Split the board in two, cover it in eye burning stripes and change the text colour for no apparent reason other than making it harder to read.
sorry but i just dont see the need behind this tinkering BDG. apreciate you are trying to improve it, but all the site needs to be is simple/functional/user friendly - and i still think its gone backwards since the transfer sub board!

not to say folk wont embrace/begrudgingly accept change, things like software updates with new features have been done in the past and improved the place - though that orange laugh smiley going was a bit of a tragedy. bringing that back, scrapping the transfer board, along with the reinstating of otium and the admin will have had a great week, with possibly even goodwill in the bank

(i might just be a bit sensitive because i picked that blue background colour when bolton had it )

struggling to read the pale blue , and such a large banner at the top ? Sorry, it's a no from me. Dark black type is best for viewing please...and maybe the font a bit bigger , Ariel 12 , in darker black...

This also explains why many posters are having problems with the light blue text.  Although if you could change the background to a dark blue this would work.  Many of my early applications used cyan text and dark blue background and did look pretty good.  

After much research and testing I now use ... black and white, which inverts when a field is selected or a button is hovered over.  Yeah it's boring but does look classy.  Although for page headers/footers I do use dark blue with white text, subconsciously I have used Town's colours. 

The font I use is Verdana although I am being swayed towards Gill Sans.

One suggestion, can you put a white border around the logo in the header?  The blue blends in and it may look better standing out.

I think the blue and white background is fine, but I agree that the overall brightness of the message boxes is too high.

This might look a bit better, it should also bring out the blue text more.

Me too, it's quite faint the print for tired 70 year old eyes.
