Critchlow as cover for Boyle if in a 3? Lees might get the nod of Boyle in a back 4? That's 3 new squad members, if so. Aarons, Rowe, Grant, Phillip's, Jones?, Camera? Feels to me like we really need a bit more in midfield but were working on it. Not that bad elsewhere I feel. Thought I read somewhere we were looking at more attacking players, I may be wrong? We were solid at the back last season but I think we need to be better at creating chances. I think we’ll look to buy a couple of midfielders (an attacking one and one to replace LOB if he goes) and maybe another striker.

I agree we have let a few more go from the midfield area and as you say we do seem to be hearing a lot about clubs looking at LOB. We have two players who lead the line for us. One who has had the best season of his whole career and probably played the most first team games he ever has in a season. The other did OK when called upon, neither are getting any younger and I don't expect either of them to improve or meet the standards met this last season. So I would expect a younger striker to be signed to take up much of the load going forward.

I liked the look of the big bearded guy that came on for Hungary last night, made two and had a hand in the 4th goal as well.No idea who plays for or how old he is though,so maybe too old or too expensive...Just saying like!

Martin Adam, seems to have had a breakthrough this season, still in Hungarian football, some team called Paksi. 27 years old.

It might be hard to really judge him when the quality of Hungary's opposition last night looked below Championship standard

Lets get him on the next plane over and pray he doesnt end up having to do time in Rwanda before pre-season.

Apparently we brought in Mipo because of Jordan Rhodes getting injured, but Campbell has gone so unless the club feel that Kieran Phillips is a viable option to step up I suspect a first team striker is on the shopping list.

It is not just Rhodes that keeps getting injured, Ward has had the best season of his whole career for games played and goals scored, I doubt very much we will see him match this again.

I wasn't making any comment on any player's long term fitness issues. Merely that we knew JR would be out for a long time and so we knew we'd need back-up for DW. Nonetheless, both strikers are now over 30, and JR turns 33 next season. Phillips doesn't fill me with a great deal of confidence just now either. Whether on loan or permanent (even a "project player" who only plays sporadically at first), we do need a striker this window.

Ward did great work last season but i'm hoping we improve on our strike rate and bring in a eager and new striker who will be first choice

Then,on the other hand he might well improve. Anything is possible! I would suggest that once a player gets over 30 you are going to see a drop off in speed and general fitness, but for some you do see some improvement in experience and its application. I am only saying that it would only be sensible to reduce your risk and look to get some younger players in to provide some support.

Hull City have made a bid of £3m for MK Dons midfielder Scott Twine, with the prospect of further add-ons if a deal is agreed. Twine scored 20 goals and delivered 13 assists this/last season

We are all watching to see how this window develops.
In reality do we expect Town to push the boat out and sign a couple of marquee players?
If OBrien is going surely it needs to be quick to fund possible alternatives.
Unless of course the funds from his sale are destined elsewhere?
It would be great if our esteemed chairman could give us some hope about funding for new players.
Seems to be cards close to the chest at the moment. Ok don’t want to give away targets to the competition but it would be nice to have some expectation.

McAtee would be the jewel in the clown. Let's hope we don't leave all our business to the last days or hours before the transfer window shuts - we don't want to be walking that tightrope.

Do we want signings that are demonstrably going to improve the squad, or do we just want trapeze the doubters?
