They used to be the Idols of kit design at one point, but that seems to have gone out of the window and they just throw money at teams. I suppose the money which you could generate from Nike or Adidas wouldn't be bad but I like Umbro. Maybe when it's up for renewal see if Gucci or Ralph Lauren fancy moving into kit design 😉

Umbro kits are generally the best designs IMO. Just simpler. less silly graphics than the over-designed crap you see from other companies and look classier as a result

I’m liking the new West Ham Umbro kit! Hope ours has some kind of similar retro vibe to it. Don’t know how to add pictures unfortunately or I would have done

I think they had something similar on the shoulders/sleeves in the late 80’s or early 90’s Porroh.

I don't remember it at all and looking on there there's quite a few that would've been a better fit for a retro shirt than that one.

I've decided I want the fluorescent yellow and black hoops to come back for the away kit

That West Ham kit is awful

That West Ham kit is awful I agree. But it seems to be the way now that each home kit changes each season to have one year a classic/traditional/safe version and the next season have a more outlandish/risky version. Probably in part to justify and recognise the difference in shirts between each season, and also to appeal to different demographics in different years (i.e. the kids will like the 'risky' versions whereas the adults will buy in the seasons that are safe and probably wear the same one for 2 seasons regardless of it being out of date). If you look at these random examples: Barcelona Home 2021/22: Risky/Abstract Barcelona Home 2022/23: Traditional/Safe Juventus Home 2021/22: Traditional/Safe Juventus Home 2022/23: Risky/Abstract West Ham Home 2021/22: Traditional/Safe West Ham Home 2022/23: Risky/Abstract That covers Nike, Adidas and Umbro. So on that basis, expect Town's to be more 'risky' than the last one (which was Traditional and had the Cup Winners detailing). Having said that, I was told by the someone at the club that as we were keeping Umbro and Utilita, the 2022/23 design had been finalised before the start of the 2021/22 season. ...which begs the question why isn't it already on sale??? Irrespective of all the above, the manufacturers can only suggest designs, the club gets the final say.

Yip - as you say Tango it could be risky as I’d imagine that the 2023/24 kit will absolutely be modelled (and so it truly should be) on The 100th year anniversary of Huddersfield Town becoming Champions of England’s top League (Division 1) for the first time - and only sixteen years after the club’s foundation - Quite an achievement was that !

Stoke's new kits very much track with that new rule, they're all very mix and matchable. Town could probably do similar if umbro are clever enough, some variations of blue white and black

We must be due an imaginative design.
I know there’s only so much you can do with blue and white stripes but the last few have been very similar.

Maybe but probably beyond my parents humour line given lack of harmony at home and divorce proceedings (could have been worse my brother got a Wales kit!?!) Family born & bred in Huddersfield for generations. I've never understood it but still a vivid memory and I'm 54 now (I'll play that bl**dy Frozen song "Let it Go" again that I've been listening to non-stop since the Great Wembley Con!! Equally as random, I received an Umbro Stoke City shirt one Christmas when I was about 8 or 9. No idea why. Yup, my old Nan got me a Wolves kit sometime in the early 70s. To be fair though, having recently looked back at some old family Polaroids from that time, my favourite colour definitely appears to have been orange. Remember getting a leather football at the time too, and that bugger was also the orange version. Think I was a bit unlucky in so far as the first Town kit I was bought was one of the plain blue ones, not a stripe in sight!

As others have said, only so much you can do with stripes.
I am probably in a minority but I quite liked the Panasonic maybe 99 kit. Had the stripes then a thin zig zag stripe too. Remember clyde and Stewart wearing it.
But I would have that as our normal darker blue not the light blue which it was.

Didnt we have Maybe 2009 with red piping? Didnt look great. I'm mainly thinking of the Pulse and Gola ones, neither were very nice Edit : the YAA kit from 2009 had red on it, that was a horrible shirt too.
