Ipswich fans glad to see the back of him. Say he has a bad attitude... Excellent stuff. I shouldn't worry too much about that. Folk on here said similar about Billing & Grant and we ended up selling them for £15m apiece.

So after waiting for him to sign we are told he is injured only at Town could this happen facing a relegation fight so we sign a injured player who can't play till unleast Christmas, has Hoyle totally lost the plot now and let us sleepwalk into league one, have seen it all before in 50 years as a supporter never had anyone in charge with any long term ambition I really don’t understand why everyone is jumping all over the fact he’s injured. It’s quite clear he’s not here for the immediate, everything that’s been said about him is that with his physical attributes if he develops in the future he could be an outstanding player at this level.we have two strikers currently probably at the top end of our pay scale and who both have started the season looking pretty sharp despite living off relative scraps. It will be ward and Rhodes this season with Simpson maybe getting minutes from the bench once he’s fit and as we develop him.next year might be a different story for the lad with ward possibly leaving at end of the year been out of contract. It’s a signing a fair few efl pundits expected a lot of champ clubs to make.folk need to relax a touch. You’re right, but we’re only not bottom of the league because Coventry have a ploughed field for a pitch. We look woeful this season and are in a relegation fight. If Simpson is the only attacker we’re bringing in I think it’s fair enough that folk are exasperated that he won’t be offering us any immediate improvement on the pitch.

Do you honestly think we could afford anybody that is fully fit and raring to go? Also Simpson has only played consistently at League two look at Boyle he isn't going to be an instant answer will need time. We are the most budget of budget. Club is rotten to the core again all because of Hoyle, its just sad to be honest, really sad after last season's progress. YEEEEEESSSSSSSSS downatthemac.proboards.com/post/3044714/thread

Such a shame that he’s injured. What we need is someone to put a bit of excitement on the pitch and into the fans. Something, anything, that can spark some life back into the club and snap us out of this malaise. Sadly, him signing then disappearing from view won’t achieve that. Nor will signing an injured Helik. We need players on the pitch on Sunday who can make a difference. Buying for the future is fine but can’t be our only transfer strategy. Spot on.

Thought Rhodes had his worst game for us last night, his control was poor and I think he won just 2 headers...we rely on him to hold the ball up which normally he's quite good at. Ward also added nothing when he came on, looked off the pace and chose wrong options. Not just picking these 2 because I also thought Yokohama was off too, and Lees..but that's for another page..

Well spotted. The club isn't rotten to the core but I would concur with inept and a callous regard for its support base.

No clean sheets in 7. 2. No goals in 50% league games thus far. 3. A lopsided squad with 8 senior centre backs assuming helik and mbete arrive (9 if you include turton). 4. Two ageing strikers both of whom have regular injuries. 5. A midfield without mobility unless kasumu fit which is not often historically. 6. Inexperienced coach with a poor hand dealt. 7. Bottom 2 currently and deservedly so - not unlucky based on folks who have been to games - i havent so not me! The above are what is angering folks i would suggest - doesnt warrant some of the rubbish spouted but nevertheless a tough watch right now particularly after last season.

I know we may keep going back to this…but in general it’s not the actual strikers it’s the quality and amount of chances we create. They are both capable at this level still of getting to around the 15 mark if given presentable chances.that is a decent amount for a champ striker in my opinion.there are obvious exceptions but we will never have those players(unless a Simpson turns into one before he moves on) We have looked poor I agree, and if luck had gone the other way I honestly think we could have 0 points. However I feel at least from the first couple of games we have ever so slightly.nowhere near enough.I think my overriding point is that to improve the team and climb the table it won’t be down to not getting in another striker it will be by improving how we attack as a team and defending crosses a lot lot better and also learning how to keep the bloody ball further forward than knocking around the back line. All my opinion and I know people think different but just felt the need to say something from what iv seen of people commenting on the Simpson situation.

I tend to agree with all points and I get why people are maybe spouting off I suppose but I just don’t really understand why anyone thought Simpson was going to be one for the future with the two strikers we currently have. Your point about kasumu hits home with me significantly though.I would have probably sacrificed the mbete signing to bring in a midfielder.

Have Ward and Rhodes had regular injuries since signing? I know Rhodes was injured pretty much straight away when he signed but I don't think he's really been out since? Ward has barely missed a game has he? He made 47 appearances last season.

Ipswich fans glad to see the back of him. Say he has a bad attitude... Excellent stuff. Funny that because when he was on loan at Swindon last season the Ipswich fans were raving about him, now he doesn't want to sign a new contract with them he's developed a bad attitude?

No clearly it’s another signing for the future. Didn’t somebody once say “you need to be in the present and not the future in sport”. Replaces Rolando in the squad. He was useful. I’m guessing you’re still pissed from last night No pal just thought I would throw in a massive hint of sarcasm.

Disappointed ( apart from his injury news )
Not asked about his views on either Ricky Gervais or Frank Spencer in his interview.

I agree, but new faces would give the place a lift. New defenders aren’t going to add to our fluidity, the current coaching team have not looked capable of turning things around either. My feeling is that something needs to change. If that’s not new faces on the pitch we’re looking at more drastic actions. We are crying out for a quality midfielder who can dictate play but there is neither the will nor funds to find one. Basically, we are lacking the acumen to make the current squad ‘work’. We either improve it or change the man in the dugout. Having given DS a chance I would much rather the former.

Go steady there mate, you are talking far too much sense for a lot of the happy clappers to understand. Nice to see somebody recognise the one position we desperately need we are showing zero intent of improving.

There aren’t many teams that are short of goals that would go for someone that’s injured till Christmas. Groundbreaking stuff. I thought people were taking the piss with the "injured, out till December" lines earlier on. Turns out he really IS injured. You seriously could not make this shit up.

Signed kasumo- history of injuries. Helik- apparently injured. Mahoney - barely played for 18 months. Lost three very good first team players. This is a very weak squad.

Yep. Out until after the World Cup You'd think we might have tried to sign him in January instead for less money as he's out of contract in June. Instead we'll pay a higher fee and pay him for 4 months for doing nothing. So we have got money to burn then But then if someone else was prepared to buy him now then we'd have missed out. Had we missed out for that reason the usual suspects would be calling Dean Hoyle cheap. Yet we sign him early and he still gets stick.

I think this guy is intrinsically pretty tough and wants to play.

Looks like we’ll be reopening the ‘Pritchard Suite’ on the physio ward down at Canalside.
Sign any more crocked players and the government will be declaring our training ground to be one of the 40 new hospitals they are apparently building.
