I know we may keep going back to this…but in general it’s not the actual strikers it’s the quality and amount of chances we create. They are both capable at this level still of getting to around the 15 mark if given presentable chances.that is a decent amount for a champ striker in my opinion.there are obvious exceptions but we will never have those players(unless a Simpson turns into one before he moves on) We have looked poor I agree, and if luck had gone the other way I honestly think we could have 0 points. However I feel at least from the first couple of games we have ever so slightly.nowhere near enough.I think my overriding point is that to improve the team and climb the table it won’t be down to not getting in another striker it will be by improving how we attack as a team and defending crosses a lot lot better and also learning how to keep the bloody ball further forward than knocking around the back line. All my opinion and I know people think different but just felt the need to say something from what iv seen of people commenting on the Simpson situation. I agree, but new faces would give the place a lift. New defenders aren’t going to add to our fluidity, the current coaching team have not looked capable of turning things around either. My feeling is that something needs to change. If that’s not new faces on the pitch we’re looking at more drastic actions. We are crying out for a quality midfielder who can dictate play but there is neither the will nor funds to find one. Basically, we are lacking the acumen to make the current squad ‘work’. We either improve it or change the man in the dugout. Having given DS a chance I would much rather the former. No I do agree with that.just didn’t want fans pinning their whole arguement/excitement on Simpson. We may end up showing schofield the door but I feel like he was behind the 8 ball from the word go. Little pre season, players not playing the whole of it,missing a few pieces.the next 4 games regardless he needs results or I feel he’s toast Also I know it wasn’t you’re comment but I am by no means a happy clapper…I just don’t like fairly snap judgments and generally don’t see things as good or as bad as some make out at times.I tend to be more somewhere in the middle most of the time.

Seems we are not alone. This concerning Dawson from West Ham:
‘If David Moyes opted to let him go, it would leave West Ham short in central defence, given new signing Nayef Aguerd has been ruled out of the early weeks of the campaign following ankle surgery.’
It could always be worse 🙂

If we sign people who are injured, tell me what's the point of a medical? Would have imagined that the whole point of that was to check the player wasn't injured before committing to sign.
Is it a case of we can't afford to pay the costs involved in a medical, or is it the bargain mentality of getting a "fixer-upper" on the cheap.

How has he managed to pass a medical if he is injured? The circus continues.

He’s 20 years old on a 4 year contract, missing 2/3 months doesn’t warrant this level of outrage imo.

Its only yesterday that rumours were circulating that he was going on loan to Charlton and folk seemed fine with that. If that had happened, the earliest we would have seen him would have been January. We should now seem him a month earlier should his recovery go to plan.

From a mate of mine (Swindon season ticket holder):
"Never seen a player develop so quickly with games. Might need a couple more loans before he's ready for the Championship, though. Had games where he wouldn't touch the ball, but the games where we played to his strenghts, he was awesome - strong, powerful and a great left foot".
Also mentioned that he had to choose between a contract with Leicester Tigers and Ipswich Town, and chose football. "Give it a few years and I think he'll be worth millions".
Well, we shall see.

Perhaps the club has missed a trick by not pointedly announcing this as a 'B-Team' signing as they did with Russell last year. It might have helped ease the disappointment of supporters who were hoping he was being brought in to make an immediate impact for the first team when, in all likelihood, he's always been a signing for the medium to long term regardless of the injury. Besides, nothing stopping him from getting on with teaching Ward & Rhodes everything he knows in the meantime

Didn’t Robbie Williams pass a medical with a broken leg?

How has he managed to pass a medical if he is injured? The circus continues. You don't "pass" a medical, you "take" a medical. The findings are personal and private to you unless you agree to share them with a third party. How those findings are acted upon are up to them.

The type of forward we have needed for a long time.
Physical presence up front at last.
I’m happy to be patient on this one.

You're not gonna pass up on a player you've tracked for a long time just because he has a standard football injury. You're looking for serious/underlying/re-occuring problems.
Not too bothered he's injured, just glad it's over the line. Will take him a few months to settle in anyway.

An exciting signing, but not immediately exciting.

Just seen the interview where he made a comment right at the very end where he said. I can definitely learn from Ward and Rhodes and perhaps they can learn from me. Cannot believe people who saw the leaked video saying this is arrogant or overconfident. He just said it in a conversation and don’t believe there anything other than say to those who critised him. Do we really have to hang on every world these young players say and hang them out to dry if they say the slightest thing that upsets us.

Just like the 'once I knew they were interested they were the only club for me' Time will tell and I really hope it works out but they really do treat us like idiots with this press release guff
