According to someone on Ipswich forum he has a 100 metre in 11 seconds "He was a sprinter at school, think someone said he ran the 100m in 11 seconds at 15/16, which when you see the size of him is a joke, because he is built like a brick outhouse - just rock solid." So maybe not now

Strange one this. He played first half of last season at Swindon and seems to have done well. 11 goals and 3 assists and just 2 yellow cards in the half season. Played a lot of minutes as well. It looks like he went back to Ipswich in January and then nothing. No stats for him playing at all. So you have to think there was a problem after he returned. Even if a player refuses to sign a contract extension, he is contracted until next summer, you would expect them to play him, or loan him, something to try and get a decent fee for him and the more he plays, if like his time at Swindon, the better you would think he would look. Odd one. By all accounts recalling him, not playing him and not loaning him out was due to him not signing a new contract. That does seem like cutting off your nose to spite your face. If he won't extend, as with Toffolo, get him game time and flog him, not sit him on the naughty step for half a season.

Seems a totally different option to Ward and Rhodes. Might be a rough diamond and a good plan B.

I think it’s impossible to be a self sustaining football club these days and include non league clubs on that; Prem clubs could possibly be but even then it’s a tough ask. The obscene wages across football make it impossible, every club relies on a benefactor and we are no exception. I agree with the sentiment but I think you’re wrong thinking it’s possible in the Premiership. I think it’s only possible if you could marry a competitive wage bill and cost base to the pontential to generate income from player sales. To my mind that is completely impossible in the Premier league because the cost base and wages are astronomical, the investment in academy facilities and staffing mean all the clubs up there must be propped up financially over the medium to long term. Some might have good seasons of player trading but it’s not sustainable longer term. It’s also unlikely in the lower leagues because there isn’t enough infrastructure or draw to bring genuine saleable talent through, the bigger leagues hoover it all up. The most likely league to achieve a sustainable model is the Championship in my opinion, where the income is reasonably good, the costs are much lower than the PL and the league is competitive and attractive to younger talent.

Looks like a bit of a rehash of the link from earlier this summer does that. Town do really like him though so if he becomes available I imagine they'll make a move. Alternatively they could wait til he's out of contract next summer. Long term target with moving variables that one. Hi Matt, How do you know Town are keen on him? Genuinely interested. Do you think Championship Football is a bridge too far for him right now? (having only played for 6 months in L2) I suspect the real reason Town like him is because he'll come cheap. Is it an issue for Yorkshiremen getting good value for money?

What sort of striker is he ? Pacey ? Strong? Clinical? Strong and pacy. Able to hold up the ball really well. Similar playstyle to lukaku apparently. Not good in the air though

What sort of striker is he ? Pacey ? Strong? Clinical? Quick and strong, but technically not that great yet. Raw, bags of potential but definitely behind both Ward and Rhodes at the moment..

Hopefully we get this over the line, fingers crossed. If we did sign him what does this mean for ward and rhoades? Ward is in his last year. Rhodes has another after that, neither are getting any younger. More pertinent question is what would it mean for Phillips

If we sign Simpson and sell either one of Ward and Rhodes then we are weakening our forward line, at least in the short term.

I could see Rhodes going if this comes off. I think he’s on decent money. Would be similar to the Naby Sarr situation where his contract was for a starting position. Hope I’m wrong.

If we do sign him anyone getting too excited may want to temper it as like said here he’s one to develop.ward no1,Rhodes no2 this lad probably only gets game time this year due to injuries. However club will back themselves to develop him over the next 12-18 months, ward out of contract next summer and you suspect due to his age a 12 month extension would be most likely. One for the future not the here and now.and even the future bit isn’t a guarantee.

I don’t see either Rhodes or Ward going anytime soon, this if it happens looks like a player that needs developing with a few sub appearances and insurance if any injury issues.
