The issue for Carlos may have been recruitment, not necessarily funding. The clubs plan is to get players on a free or get in young players and develop them, Carlos was aware of this. In January we got two players on loan. A creative midfielder and a strong forward. On paper just what we needed.
Eiting played 372, minutes, league and cup. That is about 4 full games. 150 minutes in FA cup games and the full 90 in the dead rubber against Bristol City. On the bench for the two playoff games and didn't make the squad for the final.
Anjorin played 144 minutes, less than 2 full games. He made the squad for the 3 playoff games but didn't make it onto the pitch. When we were pushing for an equaliser at Wembley Carlos brought Holmes on, who really got stuck in, which shows his confidence in Anjorin.
This looks like Carlos wasn't fussed about either of these two signings, so how much say did he have in January when they were brought in? Dean will have coughed up for their wages.
The three we have made so far this summer, Boyle is a solid left sided centre back. Reliable and is still of an age to improve. Kasumu looks like a Carlos type of player. Strong, determined and wants to improve. Mahoney, not so much. You can see it from a commercial point of view. Pick up an obviously talented player who hasn't clicked at his last club and if he does play to his potential he would be worth a good sell on price, but the lad doesn't tackle. This does not sound like a Carlos type of player.
So has Bromby put purely commercial interests before the head coaches wishes? If so you can see why Carlos would want to go and if that is the case it could be very short sighted by the club.

Quite simple really
Carlos and team are super ambitious and want to better themselves and their position every year
Clearly it wasn’t going to be possible to better themselves at Town with less resources than last season.
As for the club, as a business, if you lose one of your prime assets (and asset developers) to someone else, you have to take a hard look at yourselves

I don't think that's unreasonable when you're the one that will get sacked if results aren't going well from players who maybe you didn't want at the club yourself. Is it? Do you think that's a crazy notion?

Town seem to have the backup plan where you need to identify at least two prospects for any position that may become available. It is obviously an added bonus if they work out cheaper.

This isn't really beyond the control of the owners though is it? Surely they sat down on June 1st or whenever after the play offs and said great campaign, much better than expected, financially we are much better off than we predicted, xyz players are wanting to stay/leave, who do you want to keep/let go and of course, this is the budget who do you want to bring in?
Pipa and toffs are possibly leaving plus these 9 we are letting go. By definition we need 9/10 players for the squad again.
It's understandable we are a bit behind but when Luton sign 7 players and Tommy Doyle goes to sheff United questions are going to start to get asked. I wouldnt wish for dh to leave the club high and dry. This has become an unnecessarily opaque situation on the investment side of the business. Carlos is massive asset, players want to play for him because of how focused he is on individual performance enhancement. Town either need two coaches or a new appointment ASAP.
Personally if the heff is up for it I think he's got big enough balls to handle the dressing room, which right now will be upset. But id hate to lose the heff in 3 months if it's not going well. The club need a coaching team that can improve the players as they are going and currently they don't have that.

Fuck me.

Ive just listened to bromby on that clip and what im hearing is; trust us, we take risks, we took one with Carlos and we are taking another now, the alignment thing im going to avoid because we might be behind the 8 ball on signings, of course im not going to talk about the feeling in the dressing room, but trust us. I want this to work for Danny, but having released 9 players and brought 3 in I think we might need 6 more and to cover any other outgoings and the "this was always the plan" line sounds like Seivert or however it's spelled. Edit im pretty sure hef is the club ambassador who been doing football management and coaching courses. Im not sure who's heading up commercial but im pretty sure it won't be the heff.

The point is, we finished last season as one of the form teams in the country, not just division. And that form was over 6 months, not just 6 weeks. We were a very very good team and extremely difficult to beat.
In theory, we were only really Colwill down on our strongest 11 (taking Holmes over Sinani), and so Pearson coming back in or getting another prem cb loan would've put us on course to maintain our standard from last season (which arguably could've been considered top 2 since November). A decent attacking addition rather than Sinani, and perhaps a forward, would've had us all realistically thinking top 6 with a hopeful push for automatic. Yet now that's all been blown apart, and it's absolutely gutting that we had something close to being so good but we didn't have any ambition whatsoever.

Exactly this mate, and if you join the dots to hold the value of the obrians and the sorbas the rest of the team needs to be up for it as well. My instinct, which is pretty good, says the lads will need a shake ti recover from this and a lot of other clubs have got their targets as well as possibly some of towns.

Footballers are pretty well versed in regime change. Don't think this will shake them much. The coaching staff haven't changed much and the way things are done hasn't either. The squad isn't bad. The players we lost, other than Colwill and Sinani, didn't play many games. Colwill will be missed. He is a level above our other centre backs but the ones we have are packed with experience. Kasumu, I think, will be at least a match for Sinani, possibly better. Nothing has been 'blown apart'. I think under Danny it will be very controlled, in a less energetic way than with Carlos perhaps, but still very thoroughly. It will be interesting to see what is different under Danny. I remember his knee jerk reaction when the Cowleys were sacked, playing almost all youngsters at Millwall. I think, as some are doing, writing him off is a mistake. At least the players will no longer be micro managed from the bench.

100% for giving Schofield a chance, but he's inexperienced and will almost certainly make a lot of mistakes (and I'm sure will learn from them), but the point remains, we HAD a very good thing going and f*cked it. We had a coach who seemingly had learnt from his mistakes and was now getting it right consistently. It's not a slant on Schofield at all - it's not his fault.

To add, the real danger now is that certain players also think 'sod it, I'm off too'. A part of their decision to stay may have been because everyone was going to go give it another go at going one step further this season.

How much more inexperienced is he than Carlos? Not very much I would say and has always been singing from the same songsheet. Carlos did a great job but he was not perfect. Micro managing from the sidelines always looked over the top. I think Danny will be just as focused but calmer. He played a lot longer than Carlos, under a number of different managers, and he has been coaching at different levels for quite a few years. I think he will do fine.

Carlos said we can’t repeat last season. Simple as that. His reputation would have been damaged staying with us.
He obviously thinks we are starting the season with a team worse than we ended last season with. It’s hard to disagree.

He obviously thinks we are starting the season with a team worse than we ended last season with. It’s hard to disagree. Agree with this. His stock his high. He steps away knowing that jobs in the prem or abroad will inevitably come up. He probably hasn’t got the improvements he was perhaps promised. This is the only reason he has left so close to the season start. He seems to have integrity and don’t think he would jeopardise the club and the players in that way. He knows that in this league you have to keep moving forward and looking at the current signings and potential departures we have stood still or even regressed a little. No good finishing top ten for him. He will genuinely believe he has the skills to coach at the top level but wasn’t getting the opportunity. It’s a shame but good luck to DS

That's why most new managers take time to develop. Huge difference between learning from a coach and learning to be a manager.
