Well Diarra won't be involved 🙄 So Camara, Grant & Jackson are staying with the first team? Correct

That maybe suggests Diarra has a loan lined up

I like Burnley, as a football club, a lot. I always see them as a similar club to us in almost every respect, the obvious main difference is they're from Lancs but, despite that, they're generally a really honest, down to earth, bunch. Maybe it's because I'm from Keighley but if I had to support anyone else other than Town, I would choose Burnley.

Quite a few Burnley fans in Keighley area Very true, a few of my mates growing up were Burnley fans. In fact, just after we'd nearly gone straight down from Div 1 -4 in consecutive seasons, my Dad had had enough of Town & he took us to watch Burnley instead - this only lasted 2 home Burnley games before he realised that, despite Burnley having a very good side at the time & us being awful, some folk can't choose a club, you're born with one. He said summat along the lines of we might be shit but it's our shit.

Difficult to know what to expect from Burnley. Although they've done some business, it remains to be seen whether those they've brought in can replace those who have left. They've faced a real loss of talent, particularly at the back. Mee, Tarkowski, Collins, Pope, Bardsley, Pieters between then make a very experienced and very difficult back 5 plus keeper in this division. Add to that quite a few others who have departed - such as our old friend Dale Stephens - the core of their side has gone from last season, plus Weghorst, etc. Not to say they've not done impressive business - Harwood-Bellis has a good reputation, and Twine is an eye-catcher - but how they perform will be interesting.
They may end up storming the division like the last time they were relegated. Or they may end up in the lower reaches of the division with those players failing to fire. Either way, I think it's as awkward a first fixture as we could have as they are an unknown. On paper I'd make us the favourites, but whether than transfers over we'll see.

It is a good time to be playing them.
Hopefully Cornet and McNeil won’t play due to being linked with other clubs and it looks like a few of their new signings haven’t played in any friendlies.
We could be playing a team that hasn’t had much time to get to know each other.
We have a settled side so I think we may be able to grind out a win.

None of us Burnley fans know what to expect either. But one thing we are expecting - with a new goalkeeper and two (or three?) new centre halves, all aged 22 or under, and likely to play Man-City-style passing it around the back - you should have chances for goals!

Warms the cockles of your heart to see that the majority of thankfully a small sample, are going for us to lose.

Did ward get injured against Bolton? He took a knock and chose to carry on. Eventually subbed. General consensus being he was OK.

Nicholls
Ruffels Boyle Lees Turton
Hogg Russell Rudoni
Thomas Ward Anjorin
I don't think Nakayama has played any pre-season games as yet so they'll probably use the cup game against Preston to get minutes under his belt.
Looking forward to it 👍

Warms the cockles of your heart to see that the majority of thankfully a small sample, are going for us to lose. I've gone for a loss, & probably will the vast majority of games, simply because I was expecting a relegation dogfight last season & every time I picked a loss, they proved me wrong.... so I'll continue with that. Not that I'm superstitious.... touch wood.

Afternoon, Clarets fan here. As some of you have mentioned we've absolutely no idea what to expect from Burnley on Friday, and its the 1st time we've said that for over 10 years. The post-Dyche era starts and who knows how it will go? We've had a huge turnover losing most of the talent (with further departures expected this week by the sound of it). The loss of Pope/Tarks/Mee & Collins is huge. Everton want McNeil and Cornet hasn't played a minute of pre-season so we suspect he'll be off for the price of a can of coke and a bag of pork scratchings knowing our negotiating skills. Incomings have been youthful & lower league, its a gamble but at least there seems to be a strategy behind it. I reckon we're still at least 4-5 players short, and really lacking in Championship experience. Kompany- has talked well since coming in, but the change is style & formation is going to take time. Apparently we'll be playing 4-2-2-2. The one positive is that most of the squad who were getting beat every week last season have left, so they might not be in a negative mindset of a lot of relegated teams. You've got to assume its a good time to play us ( although that might apply all season). Fans are optimistic and positive, but realistic I think, which as you know, is unusual. Anyhow, good luck for the season, we're two very similar clubs and there seems to be a genuine respect between the fans of both.

Is it 4-4-2 for people who want to sound a bit trendy? Genuine question.

A good question. 4-2-2-2. I've honestly no idea. I've not seen any pre-season games this year. But apparently 'those in the know" say that's our formation and he played it at Anderlecht. Sounds suspiciously like 4-4-2 to me! Maybe it means we'll play without any wingers because we've sold them all, so it's probably 4 central midfielders! We'll all find out on Friday...

It could be an opportunity for us if we attack more quickly than last season. Changing to a new formation can be difficult to adjust to, especially defensively.

Those two attacking midfielders will be doing a hell of a lot of running if they need to drop wide and cover our full backs.
Will be interesting to see how it pans out. Hogg and Russell will be crucial to counter their 4 forwards and send the ball wide on the counter.

Jack Rudoni v Scott Twine.
I'll be interesting to see them both in action tomorrow. Both highly regarded league 1 talent last season & both play similar positions.

Well obviously Twine will be MUCH better, having cost more? I'll be interesting to see which makes the step up. Twine is a couple of years older than Rudoni but seems to be ahead of where Twine was, development wise, at age 21. Would Twine have been as prolific in that AFC Wimbledon side last season? An intriguing head to head.
