I think that's the wrong call.
It will create a mini backlash against the event that's caused it.
I'd be annoyed if it was the EPL that's dictated this, given they have a smaller set of fixtures to worry about...

What a fucking joke.
No idea what the justification is. Why can’t we just get on with our lives? Imagine the train and hotel costs up and down the country that will be wasted as a result.

I assume the EFL will be refunding all travel and hotel costs to fans who can't get refunds?
No, of course they won't.

Highly disappointed in my country. I thought we were stronger and more pragmatic. I was wrong. Grief and wailing now becomes the national sport, hidden by the word 'respect'. Very sad day closely followed by another one which was self inflicted.

Wrong decision. Would have been a great opportunity for football to come together to pay tribute to The Queen. Doesn’t surprise me that once again the football authorities fail to take the match going fans into account. They should be offering train and hotel refunds for people who have made plans for this weekend seeing as it’s their decision to postpone the games.

"This is aligned with the approach that the Premier League and the FA will take with their competitions this weekend." The BBC is showing all Championship games off, plus a handful of L2, but all L1 games on. I suspect it's just catching up. It's ridiculous really, the FA & PL probably didn't want any shit sticking to them, rather ironic given the damage they cause on a regular basis...

If a football match is postponed out of respect then a boxing event 14 miles away should also be postponed although I appreciate in this case I guess the boxing is going ahead for monetary reasons

If a football match is postponed out of respect then a boxing event 14 miles away should also be postponed although I appreciate in this case I guess the boxing is going ahead for monetary reasons Its not about mourning or respect, death at 96 is now frightening and tragic and misery and fear are to be welcomed and made quite normal. You are being educated in how to respond and to accept decree from above. The Queen herself would have laughed at the 'self harming, miserable bastards that run this country now making these decisions. Life is more important than death, joy and fun is more important than grief and misery. Its another event being used to make life a little less fun and free and to make us a little more scared of everything that is good about life. Instead of fully celebrating a full life of a 96 year old woman, we are led to the tragedy of her loss and we are to be made to feel more miserable than thankfull.

This is disgraceful, another knee jerk massive over reaction. We will now be subjected to mass hysteria for the next 10 days of people crying crocodile tears to show how virtuous they are. I get it that the queen has died, butwhy cant respect be shown by having 2 minutes silence at matches? Why does the match have to be called off. As usual it is the ordinary people who have been shown no respect, why should i have to lose money for my train ticket to show respect? What this shows yet again is more evidence that the football authorities and the EFL in particular are not fit for purpose and hold ordinary match going fans in contempt. Roll on the republic.

Some short memories here. Remember Diana? Are you a member of any GAA club, pipes? No Epsom, but I do enjoy GAA, especially hurling. I've been to a few games but not for quite a while now. Incredibly fast game as a spectator sport. Skilful and violent. Not for the faint hearted. My son used to play Gaelic football but nowadays a gust of wind would blow him over. I weigh exactly two of him. I've seen some great hurling matches over the years, many going down to the last puck of the sliotar.

I can imagine that had the games proceeded, there would have been a minutes silence, applause or some kind of recognition. I could see that not being honoured by some fans which the EFL and PL would see as a reflection on them. Wouldn't surprise me if they have done it just to avoid the risk of losing face.

Grassroots football also cancelled ?! It was our sons first game on Sunday, he's been buzzing all week to get going and now he's gonna be gutted. I know it's sad news and everything but she was 96 years old, what are we supposed to do, sit in a darkened room all weekend and mourn? It's just ridiculous.

GAA cancelling matches for this, no way that happens. Im glad other people feel the same as me. It's sad, I never met her, ive paid tax to their family wealth fund for over 20 years. If id paid to travel that needs refunding. The country is so backwards in It's head I left. Im in a place equally as backward from the outside looking in but at least it's more peaceful.

Wrong decision for me.
Not to sound daft but folk have put up with an awful lot over the past two years. It is routine and day-to-day business that some will need to help them through.
Events such as this upset the status quo and that can make it hard for some to cope. Accentuating that upheaval is the wrong thing to do in my eyes.
