Absolutely gutted for Marcus and his family. A true Town legend. Hopefully he can stay strong enough for as long as possible to spend as much time with his family and loved ones.

Absolutely awful news. One of the most skilful players to don the Huddersfield Town shirt in my time as a supporter. Sad news indeed. 😞

What a cracking player he was. I don't think we appreciated just how good he was until he left. He and Chief made for a quality strike pairing.
Shit news. He'll give it a bloody good fight, we know that much.

Poor bugger. Presume they'll put it down to his career choice...
As others have said, I'm sure he'll fight it as best he can...

Awful news, best wishes to Marcus & his family, what a terrific player he was, with a bit more pace he'd have played loads for England.

What truly horrible news. I think the events of this last week and maybe the last few years have made a lot of us not take our health for granted. My favourite player as a kid, his goals and that Steve Bruce team in general were what really started me off as a Town fan. This is the Just Giving page Marcus' wife has set up to help the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation which provides funds to assist research into hopefully finding a cure for this awful awful disease. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/louise-stewart254

Tell you something it doesn't half seem to affect pro sports people does this disease. Terrible news, top player for Town. Thought exactly same thing.

In my era watching Town (first game late 70's as a youngster but proper started going home and away from mid to late eighties).
I struggle to think of a player I have enjoyed watching more than Marcus Stewart. A tremendous signing for our club.
This is terrible news.

Never have I been more excited about a Town signing than I was when we signed Stewart. And he didn’t disappoint. Stay strong Marcus! 🙏

Such a horrible disease. Wish Marcus all the best. Such a down to earth guy who I have had chance to chat to on many occasions.

Fucking awful news. Incredible player, like everyone else I was gutted when he left and there was one season for Ipswich he should have had an England cap which would have been amazing to see. To see him in his prime was special.
Does put things in perspective with all the sniping this week, for me anyway, if there was an option for us to be relegated and him make a miraculous recovery then it's a no brainer. Far more important things to worry about than what level of football we're playing/watching and I think a lot of us can be guilty of getting too carried away sometimes.

News like this, for me, trivialises the whys and wherefores of where our club stands and what's happening.
I'm absolutely gutted. Rob Burrow and his demise really hit home to me, and this ramps it up even more so. A legend of my time watching Town, a talent, a hero, and a good bloke.
When I lived in Dewsbury and he did too (in the houses built on the old hospital) he once drove past when I was heading out to my car in my town shirt. He slowed down, stopped, wound his window down, and we chatted for a minute or so.
He was a legendary drinker in Dewsbury/Batley Carr.
Bless him and hopefully he stays strong for as long as possible. It's going to be a difficult 'watch' but it will bring more attention to a truly horrible disease.

Oh what dreadful news on a miserable day. I hope and trust Town fans will take their chance to show how loved he is by all. An utter legend from that seesaw day at Wembley where he tore us a new one.

Yep, one of the very few who played well against us and then even better for us. Sad day when he left but this news is truly awful. Football is very important but it has its place in priorities, if we forget that then things like this remind us.

Awful news and a terrible disease. My all time favourite Town player. Stewart playing off the Chief for a couple of seasons brings back some nice memories and named my son after Marcus shortly after that. Best wishes Stewy and stay strong

My first memory of Marcus Stewart was in the 1995 Play Off Final. He was the best player on the pitch by a mile, and apart from his goal, I also remember he had a shot that smashed off the cross bar from 25 yards, right near the end.
It was an incredibly happy day when he later joined Town, but one of the saddest when he left, in what was quite simply a criminal act of sabotage.
A very sad day indeed. Good luck in the future, Marcus. Stay strong.

I'm a bit late to this terrible news, just seen it on BBC website. One hell of a player, and I mean one hell of a 'baller. Intelligent, accurate, precise, pure pure quality. Watching him play was a privilege. Can only wish him all the best going forward, hope he gets the best possible treatment.

The first opposition player I ever saw and instantly fell for. Can still remember the excitement of literally jumping out of the bath when it was announced on the radio that we had signed him and running down stairs to tell my family the news.
Pretty much every time I played footy with my mates between the age of 14 and 30 I'd cut inside and announce "Marcus Stewart at Wembley" as I tried to replicate the shot of his that smacked against the woodwork.
Whatever this horrendous disease does to him to me he will eternally be the amazingly talented headbanded youngster we all saw at Wembley and could only dream of one day signing.
