I might have said this before... one of the best strikers we have had in my lifetime. He was a classy, stylish player. There's something special about watching a stylish goal scorer that's adds to simply scoring goals and winning games as a result.

I lived next door to him during his time at Town and I’d always play on shitty patch of grass braying a ball against a substation wall, when there were pitches close by, in the chance he’d drive passed and see me. One day he stopped and gave me one of his shirts from the boot of his MGF and I still have it. I idolised him.
And he deserved the adoration. He had everything in his locker except for pace, but his movement made up for it. Left foot, right foot, head. Only Rhodes has come close to him in ability during my time as a Town fan.
I bumped into him having a few pints during the six nations at Huddersfield Rugby club and he was everything I remembered; warm, welcoming, kind. I was still besotted at 36.
Strange, I can’t remember a song for him.

Oh yeah, he was deadly. His scoring record for us was pretty much a goal every other game, in some really poor teams.

Gone to watch Weston super mare v Yeovil and bumped into Marcus while queuing for a beer. Had a quick chat, seems to be doing well which is good Great news... ......but I'm always scared to click on a bumped thread on an old hero (especially one with health issues).... Think this is an area where the admins could allow new threads.

We had a lot of decent strikers when I first started watching (end of Buxton era and when Big Sam played for us!), but we were in the main total utter turd. I think it took three or four seasons before I saw us win ffs 😆 Anyway, I saw Shearer, Iwan, Maskell, Boothy, but it's Stewey all day long for me. At the same time, I can appreciate why not all feel the same.

Stewart was a far more complete footballer than any of the others you mention.

Agreed, Big Dunc was an out and out striker, who was lethal in front of goal, whereas Stewart contributed more to the overall team.

Strange, I can’t remember a song for him. “There’s only one Marcus Stewart” to the tune of “Winter Wonderland”.

Great news... ......but I'm always scared to click on a bumped thread on an old hero (especially one with health issues).... Think this is an area where the admins could allow new threads. If/when there's bad news I'm sure the mods will modify the thread title. Hopefully that's a long long way in the future. keep fighting Marcus, we're all with you mate. Absolutely. If we find out before the majority that something has occurred, we will look to amend the thread title to prepare everyone for the worst. A long way off I genuinely hope, and something as an Admin I hope I don’t need to do.

Pity Marcus won't be at the Ipswich game on September 30th because he will be in Lockwood watching his lads beat L33ds Tykes, Stewey will be around in the morning to see off all the walkers (18 & 4 milers) & posted last week (on X) how grateful he was to both sets of Town supporters taking part or those donating who won't be walking.......Marcus its a bloody honour after the joy you have given to football & Town.

I don't remember there being talk of a mysterious figure in the shadows (apart from Marcus allegedly hiding in Rubery's wardrobe if Barry came home unexpectedly early). Was it some sort of "spiritual" nonsense like that old bint who told Glenn Hoddle not to select Gascoigne or Le Tissier for France 1998?
