Just listened to the Bromby interview in full. The man is a classic bullshitter. He said at one point that 'Danny understood stylistically what's expected on the pitch'. In view of what we witnessed during Schofield's short reign what on earth do such words mean? A little later he added, 'We want to represent the supporters in the right way.' Can anyone translate this into meaningful English?
And by way of apology re. Schofield's appointment he says, 'I made a decision in the summer, not Dean...' and then 'I head this up', 'I lead this', 'Dean is supporting me.' And then after a lot of gobbledygook about Wagner, 'I haven't offered him the job'. We begin to get the idea.
He goes on to talk about coaches with European experience like Wagner and Corberan being used to working in 'our structure' ie. with a Sporting Director, a Head of Analysis, a Head of Physical Performance, a Head of Recruitment. Reading between the lines he clearly does not want his empire to be undermined by anyone with a different perspective on things. He even goes on to say that the next coach has to be the 'right fit'.
I would ask you to think about the quality of football that this assemblage of experts has managed to produce over the last two or three years.
I said in an earlier post that the balance at the top of the club is wrong. Bromby is at the heart of this and as long as he is able to appoint coaches subservient to himself we will never see the sort of changes that could make Town worth watching again.

Got to admit that although the interview was refreshingly forthright, it sounded to me like he was trying to protect his own role. If a new manager is good enough and has a different direction why shouldn't that be considered? Don’t get the issue myself. Stuart Webber is one at the best at his role in the game and he worked with Wagner fine. Need to park the egos at the door. My point is that (to me) it seems the ego sits with him. He may have to accept that he can't pull every string

I’ve been watching since 1981 so 41 years and that was the best league position finish I’ve seen, have you seen better?

Our highest EVER points haul in the 2nd flight. The most goals we've scored in a season in 10 years. The first time we've recorded a positive goal difference in 10 years. The fewest amount of goals we've conceded in 30 years. Our highest finishing place on any divisional table in 42 years. ...what more do you want?!

Having listened to the full interview, it sounded to me like DW was #1 choice, however was slightly puzzled when he said he hadn't spoken to him about the job... Unless he was fibbing? He mentioned up and coming coaches who have worked with top end managers, which would point in the direction of Carrick and Barry, but I'd imagine Wagner would be preferred.
I don't think Bromby came across too bad. I think he's got the signings right this summer apart from maybe Boyle. If DW implemented a lot of the systems in place at HTAFC then let's bring him back and let him build on what he started.

This season he has given us a very in balanced squad. Just watching Scott high come on for Rotherham. They are way above us in the league. Days numbered.

Let’s not forget he managed to sell Lewis for less than his release clause. The day after Forest signed lingard on £80,000 a week.
Very poor.

Sounds like he wants somebody who has worked along side top managers/ head coaches in the past. Understands the European style structure we have implemented. Doesn’t have to have previous high level management experience. Didn’t seem like Wagner was being really considered but the guy from Chelsea looks the type he’s after.
But I’m usually wrong so it will be Carrick

That’s all Bromby’s fault.. … no he has no point at all, it’s a load of shite. It is possible to acknowledge what a great achievement it was while also accepting the football wasn't great, plenty of games where we were fortunate to come out on the right side and imo just a freak of a season Hogg spoke after the Stoke game the other week and said something along the lines of "we aren't getting the lucky breaks on the pitch like we were last year". Carlos couldn't wait to get out of here while his stock was high knowing full well he couldn't repeat last season. No pundits believed we could go up because everytime they watched us we didn't look very good yet we kept on churning out the results and the points to prove them wrong. We had an XG against of 1.58 yet only averaged 1 goal conceded per game. I would be amazed if there was anothet team in the football league with a differential like that. You can pin that almost solely on one of the best seasons you will ever see from a Town keeper. Our biggest creator from open play was a centre half. Again, that is highly unusual and points to a real lack of flair and creativity in forward positions. We had one player who made it in to double figures (Ward with 14) and then Sinani was 2nd with only 7. Again, I bet you would have to do some searching to find the last side to finish near the top of the division with such a low return from forward players. Set pieces were absolutely vital and we won't have another season as productive as the last from set pieces for another 50 years. Fantastic season given the resources but let's not try and pretend it was amazing to watch in terms of entertaining football.

Hasn't Duncan Ferguson worked under Ancelotti, Benitez and Koeman? I didn't hear anything that would rule him out. Basically wants someone who has worked under top top managers or within a top clubs framework. Sounds to me the likes of Warne and Schumacher are the ones we can rule out. Bromby suggests that we won't be changing the ethos and structure which says to me that Wagner is unlikely to get the level of control he would probably want. Key thing here is who offers new ideas and has the personality of a leader. Yesterday's performance and result was driven by the same coaching set up that had been behind the first 9 games. Difference is that Narcis is clearly more of a leader than Schofield was. You only have to listen to his pre match presser to hear that.

If you listen to it twice (I know I’m sad) it definitely sounded like Wagner is in the frame. Bromby kept bringing him back up even when they weren’t talking about him. Also seemed at pains to say that Wagner basically introduced the current structure as opposed to the consensus that he could t work under it. Meanwhile WBA will sack Bruce soon so we should get a shift on Is that because he did it in German on the second playthrough?

Nixon saying Anthony Barry in the frame for job. I hope this is as good as his Halifax centre half info. Underwhelming does not come close! As for Bromby I would not trust him with a barge pole. Talk about trying to talk himself up.

If it is Barry, I hope the Chelsea contacts aren’t clouding our judgement. One of the things that’s really creeping into the game is an over reliance on getting cosy with the elite clubs.
Sounds highly regarded though.
