Can’t say that there was any stand out performance, but equally I can’t say there was a dire one today. All quite average across the park, but it was good to see the effort they put in. Defence seemed more assured today, can only recall the one stray pass into touch, but there might have been others?
Still very much a work in progress, but 2 home games to nil, it’ll give Nichols a bit of confidence.
Get a result next Saturday and the home game v Preston will be a decent barometer to check progress since we last played them, admittedly in the cup with a few team changes.

First half we didnt look like a side capable of climbing out of the relegation zone, second half there were times when we played some decent t stuff. Keep this upward momentum going and we should be ok although not troubling the top 6. UTT

A brilliant win. The first 25 minutes we were really stinky but after that we were by far the better team and controlled it. On another day could’ve been a draw but they couldn’t finish their dinner. Thought the defence, especially Helik, deserved the clean sheet today. Onwards and upwards and hopefully the start of a good run for us.

Totally agree aside from Camara - who I thought was great again.

Thought it was a very similar game to the previous one at home to Cardiff. A solid, hardworking performance against limited opposition.
Great to see us win and keep a clean sheet. We desperately need to improve our ball retention and support play though.

It was another small step in the right direction. No need to get carried away, but some light is visible at the end of the tunnel.
We don't have the squad to challenge the top six, but we appear to be making strides upwards and that is all we can hope for at the moment.

Helik or Rhodes M.O.M for me.
Quality performances from both. Slow first half but better second. Much needed 3 points. UTT!

Thought the back 3 were excellent today. Nakayama coming back into the side never put a foot wrong. Helik didn't give them a sniff & Lees looked back to last seasons form.
Huge 3 points that 👏

I'm sure nobody is disappointed with the scoreline but this just isn't enjoyable to watch at all. I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest we won't get relegated this season. Really? Everyone we've played at home so far have been poor apart from maybe Burnley and they weren't that great. We're in that group as well at the moment but I think we've got the players to get us out of it. Anyone who says we only finished 3rd last season because the division was poor obviously hasn't watched much of this seasons dross.

Poor first half, good second, some good performances with Camara getting better as the game went on, you could see the confidence was flowing after the second goal with some decent stuff being played, some moves came off and some didnt but it makes me a lot more optimistic for next weeks match.

First half we looked like 11 players who'd never trained together before, although we improved after the goal. Seccond half was much better, but the standard of the opposition wasn't great. Hull look like they'll be in the relegation race.
Jackson looks a decent player and has a great cross with his left foot, I just wish we'd give it to him further up the pitch so he's able to use it more.
Ward is a bit of an enigma this season, he's not making mistakes and it's not as though he's not putting the effort in, but he's just not contributing anything. I'm hoping Simpson is available when the mid season break ends.
We need Hogg fit and/or available for selection as soon as possible. I like Rudoni, but he's not a central midfield player he needs to be playing as a number 10 or 2nd striker, so we need another available option in central midfield. I'd also be recalling Scott 'F' High in January to add to the options.

We definitely miss Kasumu or Hogg in midfield. Although we got a well-deserved win, I never thought we controlled the midfield. We were never able to control possession or the tempo of the game from that central area. Kamara is an excellent player, but he can't do it on his own.

Can someone explain that when Yuta was given his totting-up booking, the ref quite clearly pointed back at what had been an incident in the corner 30 seconds earlier where Yutu had gone in aggressively and fairly, forced a throw-in (or Camara came away with it, can't remember), and neither the ref nor the lino gave it as a foul ?
It was almost like he'd just got pissed off with Yuta and was after an excuse to book him, after that stupidness with the throw-in in the first half where he kept telling him to move about one foot.
Seemed very poor referreeing today, very picky about things that don't matter, and not controlling the game with any authority at all really.

Rhodes always looks twice the goal threat that Ward ever does but today, and all season, his hold-up play, passing and general workrate also looks far superior.

With Kusumu added to that XI in place of Rudoni, I don't think there's a place for Hogg, and to be honest I don't think there's really a place for Rudoni to go in ahead of Holmes, he just seems too powder-puff.

Shocking game between two poor teams. Maybe it's just me being a glass-half-full happy clapper, but I've really enjoyed today. We were a bit nervy in the first half and Hull look very much like a team under a caretaker, in fact they remind me of us under Schofield. They've had a few quick breaks that threatened to do us but they look low on confidence and a bit disjointed. If they hadn't mistakenly brought the Hull KR team they could have made things a bit more difficult. Second half we were much better, still plenty of work for Fozzy to do but we started the second half really well, and on another day could have won 4-0. Probably should have had a pen too, but we've already had our allotted single pen for the season. Ref was abysmal as usual, only upstaged by the lino in front of the Kilner who was making up the rules as he went along. Could have done with Hoggy putting an arm around Sorba and calming him down a bit, after he got fouled and the red mist descended. When Turton came on and gave him instructions from the bench, I think he also told him to chill out a bit. Not sure what problem the ref had with Yuta either, warning him for time wasting in the first half (but not doing the same to a couple of their lads who did far worse) and couldn't wait to show the card for a fairly innocuous foul. Worst from the lino was near the end, giving a corner instead of a free-kick when their lad hadn't got near the ball! Overall, not a vintage performance against a side seemingly in deeper sh*te than us, but a win is a win and that's all that matters right now. MF has instilled a bit of fight into the lads (maybe a little too much at times!) and if he'd said whatever he said at half-time at 11:30 instead we might have won by more... and also finished the game with 9 men!

A win against another of the potential relegation candidates.....and a clean sheet for our dodgy defence. Excellent result.

I'm still confused about what type of football Fotheringham wants us to play.
Against Luton we looked to play through the thirds quickly. Today, we tried to play out from the back in the first half, but his post-match comments show he was unhappy with that. In the second half he clearly instructed the players to go longer with their passing and not to play out from the back. Is this how he wants us to play?

Different type of forward to Rhodes, Ward works the opposition defence hard and is our first line of defence. I know we'd all like to see a free scoring forward, but he will have 10 or so by seasons end. A valuable member of our team, keep it up Danny!!

Second half of last season, a few opposing managers said something along the lines of it being pointless doing any research on Town because there was no way of knowing how we'd set up. If Fozzy is doing the same, great!

Kasumu & Holmes have quite rightly got the shirts at the moment. However, we need another central midfield option as Kasumu is likely to be suspended in 2 or 2 games time and Camara is likely to need a rest as well and Rudoni isn't the answer. Rudoni did create and score quite a few goals from a more advanced position, which is why we bought him, but at the moment all we've done is stuck him on the wing or in central midfield. He deserves the chance to show what he can do in his best position, but he is behind Holmes at the moment.

Better 2nd half, and deserved the win. Performance wasn’t brilliant but result the most important. Still a lot to improve on if we’re to climb up the league, a better side would have beaten us today. Hull were dreadful
