Whatever the platitudes we have failed to win a tournament again we came up short once again We need a playmaker in the Modric or Pirlo mould someone to control the tempo but we just rely on robots We've got Foden, Grealish and Maddison but a manager who thinks they are all wingers

Thought that was a decent game to be fair.
No shame at all, need to keep Southgate and it will all come good.
Hope Marocco beat the French though - got told to "fuck off back to my country" by some callow French youth when England equalised, despite having lived legally in France for over 30 years...☹️

France will probably take that game as the toughest they’ll face at the tournament, and think their name is on the trophy.
It would have made for a half decent final.
Ref seemed a bit suspect throughout, but not suggesting he had anything to do with the defeat.
It was a missed opportunity, tops off a shite day for England supporting Town fans.
I think we’ve a tournament winning side very soon though. England very unlucky tonight.

A World Cup winners' medal for Messi might shut Ronaldo and his fanboys up for good though Hope not, can't do with the shortarsed twat. He's got away with murder for years just cos he's Messi. He's less of a knob than CR7, so it's good enough for me. Still hoping for a Croatia Morocco final though!

Genuinely utterly discombobulated with that.. I’d mentally accepted the penalty conversion from kane.. Can’t believe he missed it so badly.. Would have bet my life savings on him scoring.. It’s totally foooked up my equilibrium.. He’s going to begetting stick for years.. 🤷🤷

Henderson shouldn't have been in the squad never mind in the team, Southgate tactically inept again takes off Saka our best player hope he resigns . Henderson was excellent in the previous match. Your comments are twaddle. Though I accept Saka was good. Defeated tonight by a referee who was, at best, incompetent.

The game mostly passed him by. Took his goal well but he had the fewest touches of any England player in the first half. He's a centre mid. I totally agree with that poster in that he shouldn't have even gone let alone start in the quarter final. And we weren't defeated by a referee. He may have been awful but he gave us 2 penalties. If you can't win after that, that's on you.

Defeated because we didn't convert penalty agree ref was crap but that's not why we lost, Henderson as never been excellent for England just shouts a lot and gives the ball away don't rate him

It's ridiculous people keep saying we are building, fact is we should have won at least 1 tournament. And I am certain that almost any other manager would have the same record as Southgate(if not better) considering the fortunate runs we have had. Who have we actually beat ? An average Gwrmany side in a home game at Wembley, other than that ? Every ring we face a half decent team we lose... Croatia, Italy, France ect... 2 of those I believe we should have won with a bit more tactical nouse and a manager with the bottle to make big calls. Nobody will every convince me that Southgate is a good manager. Nice guy, sure..likeable? Yes... But I don't believe we will ever win a major tournament with him in charge !

It really is ever so simple for England in the World Cup. Cruise through the "qualifiers" then as soon as we meet a decent team - we're out.
That really is the case isn't it ?

I’ve watched England a long time. I don’t remember many games they have played better than that.
France are a great team and we were better than them.

Just thought we were again too cautious, foden hardly got a touch first half and saka does my head in by never going on the outside to cross but always cut back inside.we had nothing creative in midfield either.
Rice too deep, Bellingham never got into the game for me.
We could see how weak the French defence was but failed to pressure them enough.at 1-1 we should have gone on to win easily, them Maguire loses Giroud, 1-2..FFS.
The pen miss killed us, again if we'd got to 2-2 I thought we'd win it.
Subs too late for me, Southgate seemed frightened to change anything, and tactically naïve again.
It's a game we could have won with a bit of nouce, sickened we gave it away.

As an outsider I think I am impartial, I have no preconceived ideas of anyone, so I believe my judgement is impartial. As long as Southgate is there, you lads won’t win a thing. You need a manager who’s a winner, someone who has won trophies in the past, who knows what it takes. If you can’t find that within England, then look abroad. That might sound like sacrilege, but it’s about winning and nothing else. Southgate is dull dull dull and wouldn’t know how to win a big tournament.
I was sorry to see you lads go out of the tournament, wanted to see you take the French down and win the whole thing. Don’t want to see Argentina win now. Bad sports they are. I’ll be cheering home Croatia from here.

Why is there always someone to blame. Play like that again in 10 matches against France and we win at least half.
Fine margins away from going in to a WC semi as the current Euro champions. But we're not, so it must be Henderson/Southgate/whoever's fault.

But we're not, so it must be Henderson/Southgate/whoever's fault. Do you mean having to rely on scoring two penalties without scoring from open play? If you think you are going to win half of those games, well good luck to you. Why has there always got to be someone to blame? It’s called a wash up. It happens in almost everything, from business to sports. It’s been mentioned before, it’s fine margins at this level, you’ve got to extract everything out of the stone. Your squad is as good as the French squad. So what is the difference, to me it’s obvious. Southgate has never won a thing. Look at who he is lining up against! Deschamps is a serial winner, as a player, as a captain and as a manager. Southgate has nothing, literally nothing on his CV. I’m disappointed you lads didn’t win it, but I’m not surprised, said it before and I’ll say it again, Southgate is squandering this generation and will continue to do so. Until he’s gone, I expect England to win nothing.

Not a fan of the way Southgate plays these games at all. Sure the ref was crap, but still managed to give us two penalties. Two more than Town have been known to get in a whole season. You simply can't make excuses, they flunked it yet again, and yet again in the usual way via a penalty. Plenty of chances, not enough taken, which is bleeding obvious. Somehow the bottle goes in big games, may well be not intentionally, but there's clearly something nagging away at the back of their minds.

He gave us one penalty from three… He gave us the 2nd on review. He gave us it. The other one I don't even know if it was in the box. He gave us one in real time, had to be convinced about the other when he had a very good view of it. He was poor. As for the third penalty, I reckon he looked at h/t and realised he fecked up, hence the zero delay in awarding the Saka penalty.
