You cant let a goal in, in a game where you are under zero pressure. Its the old problem of switching off and relaxing after a job done, too early. We conceded at 4-0 and 6-1 when i'd consider the job already done, it didnt matter and had no bearing on the game whatsoever, if it was a tight tense game then different story but they wouldnt have considered it job done in that scenario. |

Remember he put 2 unstoppable goals against us at our place. Each goal went in off a different post. Unstoppable. We lost our shit after that game. Never played with the same confidence again. Just imagine the odds on us scoring 6 and Kane not getting one. Southgates obviously been playing him as a deep-lying forward on footy manager. |

Fantastic overall performance, I just hope Southgate trusts our attacking players & stays 433. Southgate got his subs spot on too, in all fairness, a lot of the squad will feel a real part of the tournament already. One big negative, VAR is a joke, I hope they don't rob someone when it really matters, We'll shoot ourselves in the foot going to 5 at the back - back our attacking flair to outscore the opposition, we look a shadow of our former self with 5 at the back. |

Not much more you can do with that performance. Could have been a tough game if you went on the rankings, but it was men v boys really.
Plenty of tougher tests to come, but they've come through the first hurdle with a lot of credit there.
(well, obviously not 'through' the hurdle - that would be a bit shite)

Shows what a joke FIFA rankings are if Iran are 20th!
And once again, shows what a joke VAR is. Why football cant see how it is ruining the game is beyond me. The only thing it consistently achieves is to help referees make themselves look ridiculous.

But no, thats a pen.. whilst wrapping your arms round a player and grappling them to the floor whilst not once even looking in the direction of where the balls coming from.... thats not a pen.... that within the rules apparently. Doesnt really matter in a game like that but you just know this competition will be decided by a farcical VAR call one way or the other. |

We are plus 4, perhaps if Iran fall apart now the scores against Wales and the USA might be more important? Tight, tense, easy and done, makes no difference, you dont concede. Its where we fall down, every time. We have not won anything for so long for fairly simple footballing reasons, not that we have not had the talent, just the mindset has been missing. If I demand too much, sorry, I will grow a beard and be nice.. |

I don't want to appear a pedantic dick or anything but it's actually The Netherlands and Holland is a province in The Netherlands not the official name of the country. Didnt know that, wonder why they've often been refered to as Holland. it's the coastal bit that will have engaged with the outside world, and most of the big cities are there. probably just slipped into usage for that reason- they call it Holland in lots of other languages besides English as well |

Difficult to judge anything on that game really. Iran were dreadful, but we got the job done and very well. If we've gained anything from that then it's settled the players down and given them confidence and hopefully shown Southgate to focus on our attacking abilities rather than worrying about defence.
As for Micah, try enjoy him for him, if anything everyone should have a bit more Micah about them, he might not be the brightest but he isn't the thickest either and is clearly just enjoying himself. Can't fault him.

I thought it has banana skin written all over it.
Made them look very average.
If GS is going to set up with that style of attacking play it could get very interesting. Certainly taken a load of pressure off themselves. We always seem to struggle in the opening stages

England are notorious for being slow out of the blocks but today we were class. Against a team of dirty fouling shysters I thought we went about our gameplan superbly.
Their penalty was an absolute joke when compared to Maguires disallowed PK. 2 goals absolutely flattered them.
We will rinse USA Friday with another attacking performance.
