The greatest World Cup final for the greatest ever World Cup seem fitting. So happy for Messi that his story is completed like that. Greatest of all time. Greatest ever World Cup on the field maybe... But just because the football has been great, let's not forgive or forget the absolute shitshow that FIFA are, or how much of a shambles it's been for the fans. I would say the greatest ever World Cup overall. I think imo the criteria for that should be the entertainment value for the people sat at home watching, as that makes up the vast majority of the audience.

Every time, the Argy keeper was off the line before the ball was struck. No he wasn't, back foot was always on the line. Linesman parallel to goal line with flag in hand, plus VAR. Can't get away with anything now!

No English or Welsh fans arrested in Qatar during the tournament, when England lost last week 500+ arrested in the UK.

All about opinions, but the disruption to the domestic season has really done my head in even though Town are pretty shite at the moment. The pathetic kick-off countdowns knock a few points off too. It's a World Cup, not f***ing Thunderbirds.

Oh sod penalties. Couldn't we have played next goal wins? Well Huddersfield Town were the first ever team to win that way v Lincoln City I think ! Personally I didn’t like the golden goal - it brought fear and sometimes teams played for penalites anyway... Certainly as a neutral I love the drama of penalties as long as it’s not Town though we have an exceptional record at them - But glad HTAFC have that important piece of history in UK football ! 👍

They might have won the World Cup, but at least the Falklands are still British.

So England were not knocked-out by the ultimate WC winners.

Fair play to Mbappe. He has to be broken inside and is posing there for the photos with the Argentinian individual winners. Classy bloke.

Still don’t like the keeper throwing the ball away at the shootout.
If we want that sort of behaviour just give the feckers some boxing gloves and let ‘em scrap it out.

What's with the Cape? F*** off FIFA and Qatar
If England was hosting, would we make the winning captain dress up like King Charles before he lifted the trophy?

That second goal for the Argies was brilliant, but it also proved the fine margins in sport. Had he hit that shot perfectly and flush to the ground it would have been saved, but the little bounce took it over Lloris.
Great goal though.
I think England need to look at this tournament and just think about being a bit more of a forward thinking side.

What a Final that was. Had everything - 2 World Class players and 2 teams not holding back . Wonderful entertainment.

That's the best World cup ever IMHO.
It shouldn't have been there but I don't see why that should change the opening statement.
Club football seems all about money & simply a bit boring to me at the moment (unless it's my club & TBH I'm not sure "my club" deserves to be called a club anymore - Thanks Dean).
Perhaps if International football is the "purest" form of the game it should take precedence over club football & be given centre stage and club football fitted in around it?
Really hope they re-consider a move to 48 teams though (a simply daft decision)

Great final, great tournament. Didn’t want the World Cup in the winter but I’ve got to hold my hands up I’ve bloody loved it, to such an extent I will be trying my hardest to attend the next euros and World Cup. It’s been great to forget the shit apathy I have with our great club town at the moment, it’s a shame the World Cup is over and my footballing thoughts are back to watching the club I love dearly get dismantled by our great owner and previous owner. Oh well at least Xmas is near.
