Happy to wait and see what happens (if at all) Not trying to be clever here mate, but I think any regular reader/poster on here is now able to determine that you are happy to wait and see what the outcome is for any given circumstance. Posting the same sentiment repeatedly seems unnecessary. Just trying to save you a bit of time. People giving opinions on hypothetical scenarios really boils my piss. Once it's happened, pontificate away, but why discuss beforehand? If nothing happens, all of those opinions were just a waste of time. For those who think that they should have an opinion on such hypothetical scenarios on forums, I am just expressing mine, which is apathy

I initially thought he just 'looked' like a lazy twat due to his build and style. After his start to the season I came to the conclusion that he actually IS a lazy twat.

He's a good player who needs people doing the legwork for him. I don't think that makes him a 'lazy twat', or any of the other things he's being called. He has glaring weaknesses, but attitude has never come across as a problem to me and he's always come across very level headed and mature off the pitch. You certainly don't get the development curve he had last season by being lazy either.
It's also easy to forget he was signed on a 2+1 contract, after a mediocre loan at Accrington, specifically as a B team player. Therefore, he won't be on much money at all (possibly as little as B team players breaking through this season), and he will have been pushing for his first big contract last season. After some excellent performances, he didn't get offered it until his performances have dipped again. So his bargaining position is weak, especially as Fotheringham doesn't seem to like him, and the club continue to penny pinch.
He'll go somewhere else next season, and I imagine he'll be a bit parter at Championship level or below for the rest of his career, unless he gets another manager like Carlos who builds a team around him.

Football is a brutal industry and things can change rapidly. Not long ago Russel was playing brilliantly against Burnley scoring the winner against Luton and now is an outcast. Don't know any other job where you can be banished and left alone while everyone else cracks on. I don't know the ins and outs but I'm sure most will agree it's a shame for a 22 year old lad to be in this position. Hopefully he gets himself fixed up in January and can crack on with his career

If any Town player, ex or otherwise, was to be likened to Busquets it must surely be Vallejo. Well, Vallejo is tall and Spanish, but I don’t remember him being a whinging, diving prick who constantly moaned at the referee, so maybe the comparison with Russell is fairer? Busquets? Considering how much of a shambles the clubs been since Wembley i'd half wish to give him the benefit of the doubt... In may he probably saw us as a great place to play in a good championship team, under a good coach, where he would deserve a decent wage. Would anyone blame him if he'd seen the absolute shit show unfold and maybe wasnt keen on renewing? Especially for peanuts. It could explain his form? Doubt Hoyle's making much effort to keep anyone at the club to be honest. I think Phil, if in charge, has him signed up before Wembley. We're a club that have just had to activate a years extension on one of our best prospects, the season we blood him into the first team.. Yes that might have been somewhat accelerated due to injuries but surely EC should have been coming into the team with a longterm contract? Not to mention fozzo is probably saying they should be happy with £250 a week and the honour of cleaning his boots I personally find this freezing out of players (unless theyve caused actual disharmony - which I dont really see with russell?), from our position of weakness, absolutely bonkers. Thin, poor squad, ravaged by injuries but can afford to leave players training alone?? Surely his contract situation is an incentive for him to perform? Would agree its all a risk for Russell though.. he might end upstruggling for a club in summer

Perhaps I’m guilty of stereotyping here - but could he just be the alleged Yorkshire man being careful with the pennies in allegedly expensive Marbella ! Anyway who am I to talk as I’m now off to Mull for a couple of hours in the pub in Tobermory to probably see ma first full hour of World Cup action in The 2022 tournament and then hop on the ferry to Kilchoan and one there before heading to ma ex brother in law’s holiday house for two days and nights of ‘economical’ boozing in the house and at the beach fire tonight and tomorrow’s night with the stipulation being malt whisky only so I’ve a bottle of Loch Lomond and Bunnahabhain in ma bag ! This will be drank over accordion, guitar, and singing in remote Sanna bay in Ardnamurichan (the most westerly point in mainland Britain I’m told, so perhaps appropriate for Westerly Westie ! ) I believe that there is the relitavely new Adelphi Distillery in the Kilchoan area so a visit there will be a must to compare notes and compare whisky taste buds of The water of life ! Anyway as always The iPad will be left in the family home and there’s nothing doing in ma footy world until Saturday so I will see yous all when I’m back on DATM then all being well... Cheers (Slainte) From (Very westerly Westie) !!! I think you mean Ardnamurchan (how sad am I?) Anyway enjoy the break. I once stayed there in a remote cottage and when we were nicely settled in a river suddenly appeared and cut us completely off for 24 hours. To be fair we had been warned.

I probably didn't make my point very well, as usual 😁

Let’s hope it gets sorted, he gets his head down and he can continue to progress. No one wins with this situation as it currently stands.

I liked the post because that's exactly what Busquets is, I utterly despise him, along with other such blatant cheats as Ronaldo, Neymar, Maradona. All four of those players are some of the best to play the game (big question mark over Neymar for me) but all four are 100% cheats and whingers. I don't remember Russell stooping to such levels. I'm not sure Epsom, who is an excellent football poster, is aware of the confusion he may have caused.

So Jon Russel, have we all agreed he’s a lazy twat? I personally don't think he is lazy. He just needs people like LOB around him. Think Kasumu would complement him well. He is a bitnof a luxury player, but this season has been off the boil (Not Will). I just think it is a case of him thinking he's made it after half a decent season and had become complacent.

The clearest reason for him not making the grade at Chelsea, and being so underwhelming at Accrington, is his all too obvious lack of pace, mobility and general dynamism. Carlos compensated for this by playing O’Brien alongside him in a system that didn’t expose his weaknesses, allowing him to demonstrate his undoubted strengths. Fotheringham likes his central midfield to be quick and mobile, which is why he didn’t fancy Russell right from the off. And if the manager doesn’t fancy you, there’s usually only one result…

It’s amateur at best. Like the rest of them he clearly wasn’t fit when the season started. He like us had no idea of the shit show that was about to happen. However, I do think he has an agent in his ear giving him the wrong advice.

Neymar. The most overrated player that has ever graced the game. David Beckham I always used to say that about Beckham, one of the most one-footed over-rated players going. Incredible, incredible dead ball specialist, but half the time couldn't cross the ball accurately while in play, no pace, couldn't beat full backs to the byline with skill so over-relied on trying to curl the ball around them. In essence, a rich man's Sorba (apart from the pace bit), but Sorba wasn't around to compare back then Still think Neymar beats him as THE most over-rated though!
