Nah not having that bro..
Beckham played for Man Utd..Real Madrid..Milan..PSG and la galaxy..
He won the league title in 4 different countries..
115 caps for England..
His performance against Greece in that World Cup qualification game was incredible..
He dragged us to that tournament..
Probably the best career of any English footballer since Bobby charlton..

I'm sorry but to mention Beckham in the same breath as Bobby Charlton seems stretching it a bit.
Remember the general view on Beckham before the Greece game eg when "the spoilt over-rated child" was sent off etc ?
That free kick against Greece made him an instant hero and changed things around totally. His brilliant marketing and BrandBecks means he's probably taken more from football than any player ever. Somebody reckoned that he'd made more money and celebrity than Pele,Bekenbauer and Charlton put together.
A very very good player, never a great one (read Shearer's comments), but goodness me the PR/marketing behind him IS world class.

Plenty of players can have an amazing career and still be over rated. Marouane Fellaini played for MancWank Jose Callejon played for Real Didier Domi played for PSG Baggio Husidić played for LA Galaxy (maybe not an amazing career but I was struggling by the time I got to Galaxy ) I don't see how who he played for has any bearing on how rated he was?

Look at his list of famous clubs he’s played for..
We’re they all wrong to hire him??
Name me another English man that won the league in 4 different countries??
His trophy cabinet is overflowing..
Worked hard..
Made the best of his talents..
Great after football business success..
Married a spice girl..
He must be wondering where it all went wrong..
🤣🤣

Bold bit: Yes he made MORE than the best of his talents, which I definitely applaud him for, so many have wasted more talent than he had. And what's his love life and business ventures got to do with how talented he was? AND he married the least talented (and least hot IMO) Spice Girl too

Fwiw, I also don't say that Beckham was poor. He could be very good. But he was nowhere near as good as Paul Scholes, only ten times better looking and that, for me, carried him a lot further than his right foot should have.
Anyways, back to Jon Russell. As someone said earlier, he's too talented a player for us to give up on in our current position. Especially if his attitude seems ok.

He was brilliant for us at times last season.. He’s as slow as a boat but.. It never stopped Aaron mooy from being top class.. 🍻

Neymar. The most overrated player that has ever graced the game. David Beckham Huge statement! I disagree, but I know many people who say the same!

Neymar. The most overrated player that has ever graced the game. David Beckham Those criticising Beckham. Did you ever see him play? No, not on TV - did you see him play live? I saw him on many occasions play for England . His display in the famous thrashing of Germany in Munich was the finest and most hardworking performance I’ve ever seen from a professional footballer.

Sgts' Mess in Aldergrove went ape shit (except for the Jocks and the Welsh).

Beckham was just like Keegan before him, made the best of his limited natural talent by sheer hard work and utter determination. He became the best player he possibly could and deserved everything he got.
If Russell put as much effort into his game as Beckham did, we'd be falling over ourselves putting a decent contract in front of him.

If Beckham is overrated and one footed (certainly not overrated imo) then what about this lad Anthony playing for Brazil and Man Utd that I'm watching right now.
He's got one move and that's it - get it onto his left foot and attempt a left foot curler from the right hand edge of the box. That's it. Literally.

And yes, I saw every match at WC 2002 and Euro 2004, plus a fair few friendlies around his time. Decent, not standout IMO. Did Madrid, Milan, Paris sign Beckham thinking "Yes that's the final piece of the jigsaw" or "Yes that's a million more replica shirts sold"?

Yeah, I've re-read and unliked Epsom's post as it implies Russell is a whinging, diving prick which is a million miles off the truth. I liked the post because that's exactly what Busquets is, I utterly despise him, along with other such blatant cheats as Ronaldo, Neymar, Maradona. All four of those players are some of the best to play the game (big question mark over Neymar for me) but all four are 100% cheats and whingers. I don't remember Russell stooping to such levels. I'm not sure Epsom, who is an excellent football poster, is aware of the confusion he may have caused. Neymar. The most overrated player that has ever graced the game. this is probably one of the worst footballing opinions I've ever seen

Please tell me what he has done more than lets say De Bruyne, Aguero, Lewandowski, Mbappe, Sarah, Mane etc. Yet they talk like he is the best in the world.

To me its all the PR stuff that distracts from what a great player he was. It gives people a reason to dislike him and under rate him. Think any player who's the best there is at some aspect of the game in his era can count themselves a great.. and Beckham could reasonably claim to have been the best crosser of a ball.. ( and maybe even The best free kick taker ) of his generation.

Neymar is a great player, unfortunately opinions (IMO) are skewed by all the theatrical diving crying and rolling about. I watched Messi get pummeled by the Aussies today, especially early on. No theatrics, gets up, puts the ball in the net. Different gravy.

Perhaps I’m guilty of stereotyping here - but could he just be the alleged Yorkshire man being careful with the pennies in allegedly expensive Marbella ! Anyway who am I to talk as I’m now off to Mull for a couple of hours in the pub in Tobermory to probably see ma first full hour of World Cup action in The 2022 tournament and then hop on the ferry to Kilchoan and one there before heading to ma ex brother in law’s holiday house for two days and nights of ‘economical’ boozing in the house and at the beach fire tonight and tomorrow’s night with the stipulation being malt whisky only so I’ve a bottle of Loch Lomond and Bunnahabhain in ma bag ! This will be drank over accordion, guitar, and singing in remote Sanna bay in Ardnamurichan (the most westerly point in mainland Britain I’m told, so perhaps appropriate for Westerly Westie ! ) I believe that there is the relitavely new Adelphi Distillery in the Kilchoan area so a visit there will be a must to compare notes and compare whisky taste buds of The water of life ! Anyway as always The iPad will be left in the family home and there’s nothing doing in ma footy world until Saturday so I will see yous all when I’m back on DATM then all being well... Cheers (Slainte) From (Very westerly Westie) !!! I think you mean Ardnamurchan (how sad am I?) Anyway enjoy the break. I once stayed there in a remote cottage and when we were nicely settled in a river suddenly appeared and cut us completely off for 24 hours. To be fair we had been warned. Thanks onesteviekindon... Aye I had a nice time, plenty malt n’ music - it was such a good night in Tobermory on Mull we just stayed Wednesday night there as plenty were out for St. Andrews’s night and would you believe it, the barman at The Mishnish is from - HUDDERSFIELD - (well Homefirth) a pleasant young lad called Zack and a big Town fan who went to Mull on holiday and liked it and stayed ! He could’nt believe that I’d had a HTAFC top on and we had a good laugh about the delights of Huddersfield and he’s proud of the town, proud of ⚽️ The Town ⚽️ and proud of The County (Yorkshire) - And rightly so !!! 🤙 🥃

His display in the famous thrashing of Germany in Munich was the finest and most hardworking performance I’ve ever seen from a professional footballer. Again, I wasn't criticising Beckham, just thought he was vastly over rated. Yes, seen him live a few of times, but mostly for Manure when I went to a few games with Manure supporting mates down south in trade for them going to Town matches down there. And I agree, one of THE most hard working players EVER to appear for England, but doesn't negate the FACT he was slow, had no trickery to beat a full back and rarely got the ball to the byline. But like I've said before, his trick of curling the ball around a player meant he didn't always NEED to beat the full back. You can rate some of a player's attributes and still think he was over rated in many other aspects of his game. Even though I think he was over rated I still think he was THE best deliverer of a dead ball I've ever seen.

Talent, dedication and hard work. Underrated in this country if anything.
