Yeah.. its only a brief bit of film, but christ, if thats the effort and commitment hes putting in then get rid. Looks like he's thinking the same. That was the performance of a man with a move lined up, who doesn't want to fuck it up by picking up an injury. Must have had a move lined up since the summer then!! I dont think hes ever going to be a top player,,, I just dont think hes physically got what it takes in terms of mobility and speed ( he has a very awkward running style IMO ) but with the right attitude he could have a very good career. Its difficult to say when you dont know the lad and we're not there to see what goes on behind the scenes, but the evidence suggests his attitude isn't what it needs to be. Hes of no use to us like that anyway and is already behind better younger prospects IMO. Unless theyre using him as an example of what not to be like, then I wouldn't want him potentially influencing any younger lads there who might still look up to him.

If the attitude shown in those clips has been shown throughout the game then the lad can fuck off for me. Total lack of interest, that first goal the ball is in his control if he can be arsed but just lets it bounce off him and then lets the Wendy just fucking stroll past him Yeah.. its only a brief bit of film, but christ, if thats the effort and commitment hes putting in then get rid. On the basis of that short clip he's not on his own, if we're talking about players not exactly breaking their balls for the cause. Half arsed doesn't even begin to described how little effort was being shown there as Sheff Wed strolled through them.

Goodness me - I started off trying to identify Russell by looking for the player who didn't look very involved or very interested - by the time the third goal went in it genuinely could have been half of the Town players I could see.

Luton worked him out in the play off semi, press him and he's not quick enough to get out of trouble. Give him a little time and space and he's a player. I feel a bit sorry for him but he's been pressed out of the team by every opposition this season. In a different side with others around him he'd be a lot more effective. In our situation, and with our squad, he's a passenger. Billing set the bluprint in how to play against BJR when Bournemouth came here and beat us in March. When you have the ball stand 5 yards behind him and when we have the ball you stand on his toes. Whenever anyone did this BJR was frighteningly ineffective.

I can’t believe a first team player wouldn’t bust a gut in a b team fixture in front of nobody whilst the a team sun it up and there’s a World Cup on.
Throw him to the dogs!

That seems to be his attitude. Why bother? Ive been shit this season.. Im out of favour for not putting enough effort in,... so why bother putting any effort in? Its only a B team game..No ones watching anyway ( apart from everyone on DATM and the manager and his coaches who'll watch a recording of it .. and all these young lads Im playing with who might look up to me a bit ) So yeah, if thats the case we dont need players like that. Get rid.

Fotheringham today, "“I wish Jon all the best in his career and I hope that he finds a really good solution for himself in January.”

“I’ve also got to analyse what happened at the start of this season when there was only [two wins] from 11 or 12 games and now I’m winning games with these young players, and they’re coming on and impacting games. I just feel that I need to keep pushing them.
Anyone would think Fotheringham has made a big difference:
Before he took over - 2 wins from 9 games Since he took over - 3 wins from 11 games
He doesn't half talk some self-aggrandising shite.

Get rid. Maybe he was promised certain things last season when he was playing well and the club didn't honour their commitment. Maybe there are other youngsters that are also disillusioned and not signing new contracts at the club. Is it all bad attitudes or has the cost cutting gone too far and any talent wants away, again! Fotheringham is doing just well enough to keep his job but not well enough to keep us up. Unless things improve he has to go, certainly had the least impact of any of the new managers in the championship.

Some of the players were are signing/taking of trial suggest we are flat broke and likely going down.

If you had that points per game ratio all season you'd end up with 50 points, which would keep you up almost every season in the last 5 games ( 4 against sides near top ) hes got 7 points...keep that form up for rest of season and we finish mid table.

21st will do just fine for me this season - Though hopefully secured before the last day of the season as I’ve a 21stone beer belly and I’d be bloody heart 💙 attack material if it was a last day scenario...
I still remember being ‘relegated’ twice on the final day about a decade ago where Town and Barnsley ultimately survived - but bloody hell how nerve wracking was that at the time !

Good luck Jon. Thanks for your efforts last season. I'm sure Carlos will put the time & effort into getting you back to your best 👍 All well and good, but maybe Russell needs to put the time and effort in too. He was outed after MFs first game. Why would he put the extra effort in if his manager used him as scapegoat & example when he was no worse than any other player at Reading? It was MF trying to act tough & assert his dominance on the squad that now has a decent championship midfielder having to train with the B team, who will leave for a better championship club with a better manager that knows how to get a tune out of him, unlike MF who has made no attempt to improve him, he's just tried to make an example out of him. Russell played a big part in our run to the playoff final last season, now MF says he can't cut it under him? It's a ridiculous statement from a complete rookie manager & I'm sure Russell will have the last laugh.

"I just feel with Etienne, Diarra and these players, I can’t hold them back any longer, and they’ve forced their way into this team."
In other words, Russell is on more than £50 a week and can fetch a value so I was gently pressed from above to drop him for a sale and blood these youngsters on £25 a week

He was lucky to play in Fotheringham's first game after the shite performances he'd put in under Schofield. He didn't feature in either of the two victories prior to Fotheringham's appointment but featured in most of the defeats.
