He was outed after MFs first game. Why would he put the extra effort in if his manager used him as scapegoat & example when he was no worse than any other player at Reading? It was MF trying to act tough & assert his dominance on the squad that now has a decent championship midfielder having to train with the B team, who will leave for a better championship club with a better manager that knows how to get a tune out of him, unlike MF who has made no attempt to improve him, he's just tried to make an example out of him. Russell played a big part in our run to the playoff final last season, now MF says he can't cut it under him? It's a ridiculous statement from a complete rookie manager & I'm sure Russell will have the last laugh. He was lucky to play in Fotheringham's first game after the shite performances he'd put in under Schofield. He didn't feature in either of the two victories prior to Fotheringham's appointment but featured in most of the defeats. Yet Hogg played in 6 games at the start of season of which we lost 5, Fotheringham, although he's never even seen him train, makes him out to be the second coming of christ? Did anybody play well under Schofield? Fotheringham keeps stating that what went on before has nothing to do with him but keeps bringing it up to try & validate his nonsensical decisions. Russell has proved to be a solid championship performer, he's still young, but MF decided to hang him out to dry. We'll sell him on the cheap & he'll go on to have a good career. Carlos will get him back on track.

All well and good, but maybe Russell needs to put the time and effort in too. He was outed after MFs first game. Accept the criticism and prove them wrong on the training pitch. Some footballers have it too easy. They are happy to take their pay packets, so should be happy to put the hard work in. It also wasn't just the Reading game, we carried him for the previous 8 too.

Are people genuinely disappointed that fringe players are leaving to allow us to refresh in January. We are basically shuffling the cards and reallocating budget to refresh.
Russell, Rhodes, maybe even hogg and Holmes could go in Jan, along with a CB you would presume, But surely that offset with new players is the way to go with fozza the GOAT in charge.

We've been through this before. O'Brien covered up for a lot of Russell's shortcomings last season, not only with legs but with brain too.
It will be interesting to see what Corboran does with him not least because he's been fuck all use to us this season.

Maybe a more apt comparison is billing under Siewert. Everybody thought he was sulking. Interesting he hasn’t sulked through relegations at Bournemouth. I blame the manager, never heard a manger make more excuses, (11 first teamers out I think), or lie more sincerely about his achievements and delivered nothing. No players look better and some look worse. The football is dire, results are poor. His man management is poor, hanging players out after 1 game, not taken responsibility for anything going wrong yet. But you stick up for the manager and criticise a young kid who was very good at times last season and showed promise. He’s about to leave and we have other talented youngsters that will leave because like billing they are not liking the managers style.

I havent noticed any other players 'not liking his style'.
The players are clearly giving their all for the club and him at the moment. After the QPR win their manager even commented on it.
Id also say several players are looking better under MF than they were before he arrived. Tom Lees, Sorba Thomas, Nicholls, Danny Ward... plus hes put his faith in some young players and they've all generally done very well. And the improvement IS being reflected in results..7 points from last 5 games ( tough games too ) would leave us on about 64 points over a season.. top half most seasons.
Yeah Ill stick upon for the manager because I dont think the criticism is justified. But a player not putting the effort in... nah, cant excuse that.

He played a massive part in our run to the playoff final last season & we're going to replace him with a 34 year old that's just had a kidney transplant. Just because Fozza the fraud can't get a tune out of him, doesn't mean he's not good enough. Apparently he doesn't train hard enough for MFs liking but it wasn't an issue for Carlos, you know, the guy that got us into 3rd place in the Championship last season.

Sorry Cap'n, but how on earth are Thomas, Ward, Nicholls and Lees "looking better under MF"?? Did you never watch them last season ?? Or do you just mean since Danny Schofield left ? If so, it's a bloody low bar. In recent weeks alone Ward has been almost invisible and hasn't looked remotely like scoring, Thomas has had possibly one goodish game and even his free kicks are now very poor, and Nicholls is nowhere near the goalkeeper he was last season. He's made more errors under MF than he did the whole of last season. I genuinely can't understand your statement, other than that you've tried to defend the club with nearly every post you make. Nothing wrong with that and it's laudable (I hope that doesn't sound patronising cos it's genuinely not meant to be.) I keep reading your posts and then look at our performances and our position in the league. But to say that those particular players have improved One example - poor old Wardie gets little service but he's missed EVERY chance he's had hasn't he ?

Yes, he was a bit clunky with his frame and not too mobile but there was a good direction to his passing when paired with a forward thinking O'Brien. But let's face it he's been a shadow of that player since O'Brien left, to the point where I don't think we'll even miss him. If Hoggy comes back, how many slow midfielders can we afford to accommodate at the club? Compound that with Old Kevin McDonald in there too, I'd be surprised if he has developed blistering pace at his age. As for the fee we'll get for Russell Marbella, does anyone actually know yet? He's still under contract isn't he. Every peanut helps.

We are now about to replace Russell who like billing is going to a club with ambition, with a has been 35 year old. But you keep supporting him slaps, let’s keep him in a job as he takes us down. Let’s see if I can see the future, I predict we lose tomorrow and we will hear about players comming back, then we will hear about January transfer window and all the great work we will do then, he’ll tell us how well we are doing compared to under schofield , he might have a dig at a player and of course we should have won. We won’t have had a shot on goal mind, and they will have had 28 on target but we should have won. I’m sick of the lies, I’m sick of him blaming players or the hand he is dealt and I am sick of him kicking the can down the road. It was all about getting to the break to get his ideas into the squad. Won’t make one bit of difference so he will now focus on January, then we can focus on the summer rebuild.

You do realise that Russell has been stalling on signing a new, improved contract at the club since well before MF arrived? And how can you say we are going to let him go for peanuts? Would you rather we keep him, activate his 1 year extension and then potentially let him go for nothing........Mbenza and Bacuna springs to mind. Maybe the lad just doesn't really want to stay? Maybe he thinks he can and will get a better offer elsewhere. Maybe his Agent more or less has something 'better' lined up and has advised him not to sign a new contract at Town or maybe the Agent is the one refusing to talk with / negotiate with Town. Wasn't that the case with Mooy's Agent until he got a new one. He's currently under contract until this season, with the club having a 1 year option. He's young and clearly has talent. I am pretty sure that if he leaves in January the club will get a good deal.

Let’s wait and see shall we end of January. Certainly we have youngsters not prepared to sign new contracts. And that's all down to a Head Coach who's been here since late September.....just over 10 weeks. And these contracts were only offered after he joined? Or were they offered towards the end of last season or over the summer? I'm also very unclear as to who you could actually mean. Most of our best young players are under contract until 2024 and beyond. Diarra, Spencer & Jackson all have contracts that run until June 30th 2024. I am sure the club are discussing new contracts with their agents and there are offers on the table, but their current deals dont run out for 18 months, why would they sign new contracts now? If I was their Agent I would not be wanting them to commit to a new contract now. Wait 12 months and see what's on the table then. Remember the Agent gets 10% commission of the total value of the contract as his commission. Signing A 3 year contract at £5K a month now get's the Agent £78K commission. Waiting 12 months and signing a 3 year contract at £8K a week get the Agent £125K.....Make that a £10K a week contract and he gets £156K commission..... Is it really the youngsters who are not prepared to sign new contracts because they don't like the current Head Coach style or is it the Agents who are hoping to get more commission from a deal in 6-18 months with Town or another club? Will young players leave this January or in the summer....Most likely. Look at the size of the B team Squad and the U19's. Some youngsters will have to be moved on in January and the summer in order to allow some of the current U19 to transition into the B team and continue their development....That's kind of how football works

The league position is obviously bad.. but whilst some like to revel in saying we're practically already down, I look at improvements in current form ( its upper mid table in last 5 games ) ... players coming back from injury...a fighting spirit and togetherness throughout the squad ( Russell apart ) and I reject all the doom and gloom. The people who seem to enjoy that mentality are welcome to it. We'll finish 16th or 17th.

People blaming MF must have short memories, he was useless under DS too. Granted he played some great games last season but that was with LOB and Hogg. Started this season as the number 1 in midfield and he couldn't hack the expectations.

If I was a 16/17 year old at the club I would be chomping at the bit to get a contract.

I certainly hope your correct in your prediction C’aptn ! - But as I said earlier 21st would do for me this season... I think that the defining and critical issue will be the transfer window and the action and / or inaction that takes place in it both for Huddersfield Town - and her relegation rivals !

The performances arent as bad as some like to make out.. other than an obvious issue with actually scoring goals. I certainly hope your correct in your prediction C’aptn ! - But as I said earlier 21st would do for me this season... I think that the defining and critical issue will be the transfer window and the action and / or inaction that takes place in it both for Huddersfield Town - and her relegation rivals ! That's why I liked the post from Captainslapper not because I agreed (although I do), more that I hope Slapps is right. But I'm certainly not one of the Negative Nora Newbies that seem to have sprouted up this season on here. Or one of the older regulars who think we're going down, I'm more bemused about the older range of our fans, who saw the shitshow before Sir Mick arrived, but STILL think this is the lowest Town have been! Baffling!

Our manager’s style seems to be based on hard graft and putting a shift in, 7 days a week.
Now, us Town fans don’t tolerate fancy dans, the type of player to shirk a tackle or ponce about. We far prefer limited ability over lack of application.
So why so many of us think, just because the gaffer insists on what we all actually want to see, is a bad thing I’ll never know.
We’re in a relegation battle and need everyone to pull together and give it everything. If some players don’t want to do that, off they can pop.

Yip - it’ll definitely be hard graft / ugly football / shithousery / whatever that’ll be required if we are to secure our Championship status this season... It’s not in the players anyway really but fancy tippy tippy it certainly won’t be - only around 14 hours to kick off in a good old Yorkshire Derby that I doubt we’ll win - but hey ho, it’s Huddersfield Town here I’m talking about so ya just never know !

Fringe player? He played a massive part in our run to the playoff final last season & we're going to replace him with a 34 year old that's just had a kidney transplant. Just because Fozza the fraud can't get a tune out of him, doesn't mean he's not good enough. Apparently he doesn't train hard enough for MFs liking but it wasn't an issue for Carlos, you know, the guy that got us into 3rd place in the Championship last season. You lot have really hit a new low here....

Tbf though, he'll need to do alot more to win me over. I'm yet to leave a game thinking I can see what he's trying to do.

So much wrong with this, it's hard to know where to start. Get this fucking skaghead out of our club.

If new manager doesn’t fancy you, get your head down and prove him wrong. Hasn’t done it. Young lads in midfield deserve a chance. Not giving 100% for the blue and white shirt? Find another club.
