I did not think that the re signing of old ex Town players was a good idea, at least we got one good season out of Ward.
A manager could be different as we are not relying on his speed or strength.
I would get rid of DM as it has taken him this long to give up on football and try to bore us in to staying home, but I am not sure that looking back with rose tinted glasses is the best solution. After the summer transfer window shambles I can't see us getting the players required for Wagner to work his magic. We need a coach/manager that can work with a bunch of players and the dribs and drabs that me may get in January.

Far from it IMO. I saw a bloke frantically waving his arms about on the touchline and his team seemingly not having a clue how he wanted them to play. You could barely understand him in his interviews which cant have helped. He looked out of his depth I thought.
You could be right about Hoyle but on the other hand he stuck with Carlos so maybe not. Yet still won 4 of his first 9 league games with a side who just survived relegation the year before. Whether you noticed his style of play or not (personally I thought it was evident), you could hardly argue with his initial impact in getting some points on the board. Moore has done neither, so far. Thats true to be fair. Koroma was on fire...maybe the best player in the whole division for a time until he got injured. Was thinking more in the second half of that season where we just looked awful... very confused looking players I thought. 3 wins and 9 draws from 24 games....18 points in over half a season!

I think David Wagner dropped in at the right time. He was able to bring a new style - his version of the geggenpressing, but more importantly he brought with him a bunch of Europeans that knew how to play that style. Thanks to Brexit that labour pool is not as easy to dip into as it was then. 1st season in the Premier was a fanatastic ride - the new additions were able to keep us up, but as we all know, second season additions were a disaster( because DW realised that he needed to change his style.
In todays marketplace I think DW is a bit lost - he perhaps does not have the versatility to chop and change on the hoof that all the great managers have. If he cannot get a tune out of the Norwich squad, he wont perform any better than DM if he comes here. he should remian an icon and not return.

My Dad always tells of two incidents from that season. First one was in the Autoglass, where a young Danny Murphy scored a screamer of a goal in front of 2,287. Some bloke started chanting "Warnock Out" as soon as it hit the back of the net and they exchanged a few choice words and a shove. Then a match against Brighton in March 1994, where he recalls more-or-less the whole ground singing "Neil Warnock, you're a wanker, you're a wanker". He always says that the Autoglass saved him and before that, most of the fans absolutely hated him. Obviously after going on to do what he did in 1994-95, it's seldom mentioned, but he was deeply unpopular. Reading the letters in The Examiner from around that time are golden, including this classic from October 1993: I love those "Angry from Tunbridge Wells" letters from the days before the internet. Imagine sitting down, quill in hand and penning a stern essay like that 😂😂 From a time when people knew how to write. And to spell.

Lucky my arse, noone can have that amount of luck over 2 seasons. He turned our club around, to the extent that his methods were copied by loads of Championship teams. We were garbage when he came in, perennial relegation scrappers. He quickly assessed what was needed & he gave us a team of champs not chumps. It may have been the perfect storm &, as a result, luck was involved but how any Town fan can claim Wagner got us to where he did by luck alone is just plain wrong. I can't even understand any Town fan would say that, they must be on the wind up. Well said pal UTT

Always go forward, never go back. It usually fails nine times out of ten. We of all clubs should have learned that by now.
The Wagner years were great, but they have been and gone. Leave them in the past.

Buxton? If he hadn't returned, Warnock would have started in the bottom division.

Peter Butler, one of the few who came back to us, albeit on loan, a considerably better player than he was when he left.

Came back in on loan from Derby And plenty on here got excited about it too He was never going to be any good but when you are no longer a player/ manager here you seem to improve in many eyes Wagner was wonderful for us at the time But his ship has most certainly sailed

They already lost to Rotherham and Plymouth. What makes you think they will easily win those 3 games? Only ourselves made them look anywhere near a top 6 team. Shows how bad we are.
