I bloody love Smile Awhile. Sounds awesome to me, but mostly because it's ours. How many other songs do we have that are unique to us? Aye, it's pleasant enough and it sounds at its best when supporters sing it, rather than chant/shout it.

Agreed. Definitely a song rather than a chant.

This is the version boys and girls. Thanks Chris. No offence, but I'd rather sing along to'Freed from desire'. That's the version of 'smile a while' I've left instructions for as my cardboard six footer enters the firey pit . Now I've got visions of our lass jumping up and down to 'freed from desire' at Huddersfield crem..

Best thing about smile a while is that it is unique. Chants that are unique are the best ones. So many of the same songs are sung at different grounds. 2 that spring to mind; Der der der der Michael Hefele. He's electric. Whereas we also have one or 2 of our own with smile a while and Anarchy in the UK. Except, Anarchy in the UK was copied from FC United fans. I never knew that!

I think Town have quite a medley of songs, compared to the skip dwellers, whose only song is 'We are L**** and they struggle to remember even that!

Smile a while in full flow with thousands singing it sounds great 🙌🏼
Leeds repertoire of songs is the most annoying in the country hands down!
Chelsea a close second with their one and only song 😂

Sorry, it is pants... only good bit is at the end when everyone sings 'Were Yorkshire!' Fuck my old boots, that bit tacked on the end (when all the impatient buggers speed up) is the worst bit. The rest of it should be a bit slower, but it's unique to Town and should be celebrated for that fact, not derided by those with no sense of history.

Although I never knew the relevance to Town I used to love hearing Molly Malone belting out of whatever away end I was in. And when the main terrace sang it at Leeds Road, fucking goosepimples galore. As far as I'm aware there isn't any Town connection other than the fact that the fans sang it. It's no more connected to Town than songs like 'Hey Jude' and 'Anarchy in the UK'.
