With Warnock now officially staying on, although we've known it a while, that opens up a few potential signings.
He was always one who had his favourites that have followed him from club to club, or players that he's got the best out of.
Junior Hoilett and Sean Morrison have both been mentioned. Any others?

Expect we’ll sign a flair player or two this summer - hes nurtured these really well in the past. Think another two wingers in.
However think his focus will be on making us even harder to beat. Imagine a couple of experienced midfielders and some pace at full back .

We don't want any typical Town signings 1) Ex Town player 2) way past their best 3) ready for retirement

Think of him as Aarons replacement, then it doesn't sound too bad 🤣

Hoilett? First impression was one of disappointment. A player who is past his best, who has just left a club that will be plying their trade at a lower level.
However, the wings are probably the only outfield area where it makes sense to bulk out the squad. If he's just going to be a squad player, then a reliable old pro whose character NW knows well to act as cover in case of injury does make some sort of sense (assuming that he doesn't take up much of the budget).
It's still a bit of an underwhelming one TBH, but not as nonsensical as I first wondered.

What a waste of much-needed funds" But then just thought, "Nah, King Colin knows far better than me what he needs to progress us" Now if it was Buzz saying he wanted to sign him? ? ? ? Edit: Fucking hate the changing things to smileys without wanting to

I don't mind Hoilett, solid pro, played in the Prem and in promotion teams, will do a job and will also know exactly what Colin requires.

Edit: Fucking hate the changing things to smileys without wanting to Buzz could bring in Alf Inge Haaland's lad and I'd doubt his ability to get a tune out of him. As for Hoilett, I can see the sense in a Whitehead type of role (except on the wings). Plenty of experience, ok as backup on the pitch but main value is as an example/mentor to other players. If he's being brought in as a first choice player making 40+ starts per season then I'm concerned. However, we're sorely lacking in quantity as well as quality in that position so getting someone in offering leadership, experience and cover makes sense.

After rumours in Jan regarding George Saville. He played for Warnock at Boro and Warnock always had high praise.
Seems like someone we could pursue. 30 year old midfield player. Would be a good one to have with Hogg. Either next to eachother or rotation.

I'm beginning to think 33 isn't as old as it was 5 years ago, figuratively, of course. With the advances in training over the years, medical treatment, squad rotation etc. I believe the current crop of players in this age bracket are better than they used to be.
