As usual, everyone piles on just because I dare to have an opinion.
Here's a fella who hasn't scored more than 10 goals in 8 seasons and people are making out he's going to be a huge miss.
In his first spell, Rhodes was fantastic, still the best forward I've ever seen here. However, his second spell has been largely forgettable and he won't be a miss.

So when a player wants to leave us to multiply his wages he stops being a legend ? I wonder if Andy Booth was dead against joining Wednesday? Where have I said he's not a legend? The link you posted means absolutely nothing basically

Agree completely. In the away game at Middlesbrough, when we won 2-0, he scored a typical Rhodes goal for the second, and actually laid on the first goal with his head, for Sarr to head in. A game where I saw the Jordan of old, but I'll agree, they're rare these days, and his style doesn't suit a lot of modern teams styles. I wish the lad all the best, served Town very well over the years, and I'll remember that game at Boro for a long while. I'd never actually seen us win there, but did see the 1-1 draw, 29th March I believe, that confirmed promotion in 1970. I was 17, went on an organised coach, and it was like a trip to hell, what with all the gas being burnt off, the old pennies chucked at us etc etc. Hoy scored for us, Hickton for them from the penalty spot, and I've looked none of that up. So take it easy if I'm wrong on anything. PS. I have looked the date up in the past, but it's stuck since then. ( NOT very well, because having checked, it was the 31st March. Next match was Blackburn away, where Town confirmed the title with another win, 3-1 I think, but could have been 2-1. I wasn't there, just glad we'd made it.) The Blackburn game was 2-0 to Town, Krzywicki and Frankie scored. You are correct sir, soon as I saw it I remembered, especially Frankie scoring. Memory eh! I'm an honest guy, will never say I was somewhere I wasn't, did Franks walk the other year and was well sponsored by DATM colleagues. Sometimes more than 50 years later, stuff just slips away, and I truly don't have time to look up everything. Thankfully someone always will on here, and that's what it's here for. Appreciated.

I well remember that game at Blackburn, my dad and I missed the first eight minutes due to the queues.

I wish I had done, because there's a period from 1999 to early 2003 where I haven't a clue which games I attended. Toward the end of 2002-03 is when my memory kicks in. Shame there's no way of knowing for definite now.

You'd think that means we have agreed a deal for a striker coming in. Cant see they'd let him leave until we have. Probably the other way around - we wouldn't seriously pursue another striker due to financial considerations until we find a taker for Rhodes.

That said, I have this nagging thought that I went to see Leeds United v Juventus in about 1966, ended 1-1, but I’m not 100% sure for some strange reason.

On a similar note, I write down every gig I attend, including venue, date and support act. Just in case the old memory goes in the future!

I well remember that game at Blackburn, my dad and I missed the first eight minutes due to the queues. I remember the home Blackburn game better, a 0-1 loss early season after a good start....... unless of course I'm wrong. Mind I'm 71 in September, and was 17 in the 69/70 season. 16 for a month or so. Like many old people, I remember more about that seasons promotion than the recent one, though I remember plenty of that. When we scraped a scrappy 2-2 draw at home to Hull, I began to believe we wouldn't actually blow it, like we had in previous seasons in the 60s, usually around Easter. Never thought I'd see it again, and whilst the last promotion was brilliant, the first will always be the best. Back then we seriously thought we were returning to where we should be. The folly of youth, and thank god I moved to Essex in 73, as I'd never ever considered we'd take the trip we did.

Let me get this right, we are discussing a centre forward that has scored 10 goals in 63 games.
In his previous spell he scored 87 goals in 148 games.
And people are saying I'm talking shite when I say he's not the same player?
Adding to that, Warnock clearly doesn't rate him either. So is he wrong as well?

Think Cherry scored twice (but I don’t have any notes to look back on Chris!) after we were 2-0 down. Being only 9/10 in that season, I missed the Blackburn defeat (school night) but saw all other home games and a handful of undefeated away games. Thought this was how it was always going to be - the 70s were a steep, painful learning curve.

I’d seen Town 17 times before I saw them lose…. big one as well, 0-2 v Coventry City end of 65-66, meant we missed out to them on going up.
