So it’s only a friendly - but was there ever such a thing as a ‘friendly’ between The Auld Enemy of Scotland v England...
Are any Huddersfield Town fans going up to sample the delights of Glasgow - it is a good and vibrant and friendly city despite it’s past reputation -
Will high flying Scotland take a decent result from a very capable England team ?
I’m looking forward to it a good bit more than I would’ve been a few years ago...
Thoughts and predictions please from all the finest contributors on DATM please -
Visitors like Chadders, Marsh, Bilo and Pallow 1 welcome also...
But be nice and not too sore on Westie if youse give Bonnie Scotland a hammering and a lesson in football ! 😉

Glad I’m welcome. I’m sure England will give the jocks a pasting. But we are playing International football just five games into the season is beyond me.

I reckon a 1-1 draw, with your boys, Westie, looking like they're playing in a World Cup final & our lads looking like they'd rather be anywhere else, like Dubai.

Scotland only two points from Euro Qualification, their tails will be up and they always treat this fixture with relish friendly or not, whatever the result just dont read too much into it its a training game!

No more home internationals for me. I don't have any passion for playing Scotland, Wales or Northern Island and I believe we should be playing people like Brazil and Argentina more often.
Home internationals are about blood and guts not improving England as a team and not only that I don't care that much about playing the old enemy. It obviously means that much more to the folks north of the border than it doe to me.

I’m half Scottish, until it comes to football when I’m just English! Love it when we play Scotland and Wales

A pointless waste of time, send the players back to their clubs after this game. As said above - Jocks Cup Final - we don't care.

Never used to care about games against the Auld enemy - not sure most English people do, it's almost as one-sided as Town against the Chickens - until I moved to Scotland.
Now? Hope we demolish them like I would a deep-fried Mars Bar put in front of me right now, then for the SFA go bust - quickly followed by Serco...again.
Looking forward to it.
(Sorry, Westie!)

How many first teamers from Rotherham and Town are on international duty? 🤔

Southgate will find a way to even lose to Scotland Hope so ! 😉 - But I think The Ukraine 1 v England 1 is probably a bad result for us old sweaty socks Jocks ! Why ? - I just think that the murmurings of this result would reach a crescendo level if youse lose or even draw with Bonnie Scotland - And Southgate and the players simply won’t allow it to escalate to that situation... For me anyway - an England win would’ve been a better result tonight !

Southgate will find a way to even lose to Scotland Even though we bottle it in the big games England are extremely difficult to beat, only lost five times since oct 2021 incl friendlies.

If Scotland win it'll be like that cup game against Bradford some years ago where the chickens were hugging each other and crying in the stands.
It would be worth losing just to witness it.

I don’t believe there will a manager anywhere across all the leagues that wants this set of games. It will all be about the money. I guess somebody somewhere said the players are earning a fortune - let’s flog them to death and get our money’s worth. Did they ask the fans ? No, whatever they say, it isn’t about us.

ill watch the game as I think Scotland will be up for it. What I wont do is listen to the endless boring rubbish that comes out of Southgates mouth. He will probably rest Hendeson & Maquire as their performances proved on Saturday they are both "nailed on" to be in the team for the first game of the Euro next year!

Even as a friendly I'm expecting blood & thunder, 80s style tackles (I don't mean pornstar bushes) plenty of aggro (on AND off the field) and a close scoreline, 2-1 England.

I have no doubt the Scots will be well motivated but we probably will look to take it easy and cannot see much of a game tbh.

Half decent average or rubbish, im aware of your weird anti English sentiments regarding football so we know you like a dig, as for myself and despite having little interest in Rugby Union i will still be genuinely wanting the England rugby team to win the world cup, i thought it was great when they won it back in 2003, thats the difference between people i suppoose.

Friendly match or not, I hope we absolutely smash those bitter and twisted haggis munching morons. You have forgotten The Whisky swiggin’ - Tennents Lager by the gallon - Munchin’ a King sized Chippy with Fish slathered in Salt n’ Vinegar - Beer Bellied - Hairy Chested ‘Rab C’ - Dressed in Clan Tartan Kilt - Bagpipe playing Claymore Warrior - Tartan Army - Drinking and Smoking the pipe in front of The Peat Smoke Fire ! I meet most of that criteria to be honest... Absolutely hope that I’m indulging it the boozy bit tomorrow night celebrating a Scotland win, The Braveheart Heart says ‘aye, aye’ - Unfortunately the old Head says a hard fought England win by the odd goal either 2-3 or probably 1-2 !

I'll be watching. A good test as to how far the Jocks have come under Steve Clark. Should be a good game and great atmosphere. When you think of the 80s team Scotland had, it's a disgrace how far they have fallen in terms of producing young talent, whereas credit our FA (despite their obvious shortcomings) for laying the foundations for the 'pathway' / centre of excellence ete etc ...

For a spell in the 70's its fair to say Scotland wwre the no.1 British side, they qualified for the 74 and 78 world cups whereas England missed out, didnt cover themselves in glory in either of those tournaments apart from the win against Holland in 78 but even that was too late.

Who gives a toss about playing the sweaties in a game which has absolutely nothing but pride as a prize?
Well, me for one. I hope we absolutely paste the insecure, jealous cards.
No offence, Westie 😬

I agree. Despite having some superb players they were disappointing in these tournaments. Personally I loved watching the likes of Jordan, McQueen, Souness, McGrain, Masson, Ricoh, Willie Johnstone, McStay etc etc.
