Graeme Souness has always impressed me as a player and as a pundit, and I agree with him that Jude Bellingham is the “real deal”. JB will be the best player in the world very soon the way he’s progressing in his career. Exactly.. He’s got everything.. Reminds me of zidane in his prime.. Can shift left or right.. 2footed.. Scores with his head.. And cool and calm on the ball.. If he doesn’t win the ballon d’or in the next 5 years I’ll eat my pants.. 🍻🍻

Good ole Harry Mugwire ,he never lets you down.. Did I miss something with Maguire, why does everyone either hate him or take the piss out of him? And don't say it's because he's shite because he clearly isn't. Is it just entitled Man United fans thinking it's because he's not good enough for them? If it is there's plenty more they could pick on as well. Irrespective of his Man U performances, I can't recall him having many poor performances in an England shirt.

"Famous" Army Stores, or an actual Army Surplus place?! Don't really know why, but used to spend a LOT of time in Famous Army Stores as a kid - buying, erm, knives, and erm, camo gear etc! ("army jumpers" were HUGE in the 70's/80's for kids who spent their time "playing in the woods"!!). Remember telling my kids I used to buy hunting knives for cutting branches etc, & dig holes to create dens underground, and spend the evenings lighting fires, they looked at me like I was some kind of mental case. EVERYONE did that!!! Didn't realise Famous Army Stores became Blacks/Millets, which seem a very different type of place. No, the actual army stores, old man was a squaddie. Work experience through school, worked with what my dad called "blanket stackers" (Logistics Corps) sorting/distributing weapons, uniforms and the like. Learnt to strip an SLR and put back together, "tested" (meaning had an afternoon of fun) signal webbing that beeps if you get "shot", learnt how to pack and unpack a Bergen properly, all sorts of other stuff. If we were playing war in the woods and on building sites we just used to borrow our dad's kit. Didn't have access to their guns though unfortunately Edit: Ref kids not believing what WE did as kids, the one and only time I've felt like a superhero was when I made a fire using flint and a bit of metal, set the kindling alight and built it up. My stepson was impressed AND surprised Ha - I had a mate whose dad was based at Catterick and we 'borrowed' all sorts of stuff! (and he did let us 'play' with his air-rifle, as long as we only shot at targets in the garden and bought him a tin of pellets every now and then.....were we ALLOWED to buy that stuff?! I know we did but I don't know where from!?)

Good ole Harry Mugwire ,he never lets you down.. I thought he had a pretty solid game when he came on. The own goal was one of those that he has to try and block the cross...defenders nightmare when your facing your own goal. Just summed up the time hes having now. I lose sympathy though when he could have joined west ham this summer and been playing every week, but turned it down to sit on uniteds bench.

Would probably be arrested now but our targets with air rifles were all the spuggies roosting on the telephone/electric wires We had one guy in the village mosher that had an air gun and he was older than most of us but gave us ‘shots’ of it and his motorbike and the likes... And while we didn’t try to hit the spuggies we did practice our aims at what we called ‘air gun targets’ - These were the white insulators on the horizontal wooden bearers on The GPO telegraph poles (as we knew them in The 70’s) ! Being in the rural Whisky Isle (population 3228 - coastline 135 miles) there were millions of them to ‘practice’ on... I’ve stuck a few pics up including one at The outside The old ‘Postage Stamp’ stand at Dumbarton FC by which time I went to games there I was far too old for air gun targets - It’s amazing how some stories about Town bring back some brilliant childhood memories - well they certainly do to this old misty eyed reminiscer anyway ! 😊 Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted Attachment Deleted

People conveniently forget his thunderbastard of a penalty in the Euro final shootout. Stepped up to take the 2nd pen - Leader. That was before three players who don't get anything like the vitriol, all missed.

Not taking one and letting a limited ability central defender (Southgate) take one instead is f***ing horrendous. The self titled "Guvnor" gets my vitriol when it comes to England penalties.

We looked so shaky at the back in the 2nd half.. coincidence? He should have gone to West Ham like you say. Probably because he had a stint with us, but Colwill should have got the 2nd half instead of Maguire.

The complete tool let 2 subs take pens in the Euro final who'd barely been on the pitch for minutes and hadn't taken them before for their clubs! I'm no Southgate fan at all.

Idiotic none game going Man U fans slating him on social media because he was captain and they were crap (for them), cost £80m and he doesn't 'look' or sound like a footballer. Seemed to snowball into sheep just joining in and then the narrative was set. Same happened with Phil Jones but that died off because he faded away due to injuries. Some of the stuff he gets blamed for is ridiculous. Saw people having a pop at him for Ukraine's goal cos "he ends up marking Guehi". No he doesn't, he follows his man (the striker) to the front post and a midfielder runner comes in off the back of Rice and Henderson to score. Thats on them, not Maguire. Is he a world beater? No, of course not - he's not quick enough/agile enough. Has he probably ended up at a club on paper above his level? Yeah probably, but thats not his fault. Is he a decent enough Premier League defender when playing regularly? Yes of course he is. Excellent in the air and decent with the ball at his feet. As for Scotland fans mocking him, you've got some lad at Watford and another who I've never heard of playing for Al-Ettifaq starting at CB lads. Maguire coasts into your starting XI He was excellent at Leicester for a couple of years and folk forget Man City were after him too at that point. That said, despite a good England career I dont think he should be getting called up whilst he's a complete bit part player at Man U, and imo he should have gone to West Ham and rebooted his career.

Agree with all that. He certainly shouldn't be getting called up just out of loyalty...there has to be some element of 'form' about a players call up and inclusion. And we really shouldn't be using England games as a way of giving players 'game time' like we clearly are for Maguire and Philips. To be honest Dunk came in and played far better than Maguire has done for a long time. Hes playing week in week out for a top PL side now so should be well ahead of Maguire in the pecking order whilst hes just sat on Uniteds bench. Think a centre back pairing of Dunk and Stones ( who's one of the best CBs in the game right now ) would be really good.

Just as well us Yorkshire folk don't give a shit and are usually quite self-deprecating. I can imagine some folks (southerners mostly ) would get pretty irate at that somewhat offensive stereotyping Edit: Just to say I love Harry Enfield but he didn't half love taking the piss out of Yorkshire.

Maguire didn't put a foot wrong all tournament, he was absolutely superb in every single game. I read somewhere that he decided the order before the tournament based on their penalty success rate in training. Southgate is a timid, mealy mouthed fraud who is tactically useless. Until now I thought this was somewhat redeemed by him protecting his players, but I think the way he's dealing with Maguire and Foden in particular at the minute is really poor.

Souey said it as he saw it last night. No patriotism from him, great pundit, sadly missing from Sky matches nowadays. Yes. A great pundit and was a great player so he knows what he’s talking about. Unlike others who have replaced him. Too young to have seen/appreciated him as a player but I don’t think he’s as good a pundit as you/others think. He still can’t seem to grasp that midfielders are different these days and he still expects them to score goals and defend like an all round midfielder in a midfield two, but the game has changed. It probably explains why he (along with a lot of other older managers) don’t manage anymore and why that generation has been replaced by coaches who have so much more tactical knowledge than them - something these guys (Souness, Merson, Sherwood etc) can’t accept.

He was one right hard Bas#ard Bilo ! He was sent off in his first game for Rangers as player / manager for nearly decapitating George McCluskey of Hibernian at Easter Road in August 1986, a year later he got a straight red at Parkhead v Celtic for taking the boot OFF Billy Stark with a vicious tackle - Just two of many sendings off for him in Scotland and bear in mind players get away with plenty common assault on the field of play up here... I didn’t follow his career much with Liverpool as while the whole of ma high school year supported them I concentrated on my beloved Huddersfield Town - But I do remember him doing ok with Liverpool in Europe and also appreciating him with The Scotland International team... I wouldn’t know very much about his TV credentials as he’s not on Council telly much and that’s all I have plus the IPad for Huddy Town games if I’m not in the boozer which is where I am most Saturday’s that HTAFC are on like tomorrow !

Fair point. Warnock still going strong, as is Hodgson. I’d say guys like Pulis, McCarthy, Pardew, Allardyce, Bruce who used to all be PL managers and are now (finally) finding it tougher and tougher to get a (big) job now. I suppose as a neutral and on paper, you could add Hughes to that list.
