Better add Lee Carsley to the list 😉 That would be a bloody brilliant appointment. Any experience he has of management at adult level has been as caretaker 🤷

Lee carsley would be known to Weatherall Makes sense given all the changes to the academy. Would attract youth and be trusted by bigger teams to nurture their talent. Has good links with everyone. Played good football with u21s. Would be a cracking appointment Ireland were going in for him this week, so maybe that's why we moved early? Carsley be good appointment just feel if it was someone like or say Rooney it would have leaked by now.

Any experience he has of management at adult level has been as caretaker 🤷 Pretty much all players playing for England u21s all play in the PL? And does he work day to day with them. Does he have to formulate plans for games every week ? I'm not against him but folk are saying what a great appointment he'd be even though he's virtually no experience as a manager of open age teams Plus he could be England manager after Southgate fucks up the next tournament with the best squad in the competition

We need someone who can get results in the here and now and I agree that he might not have the CV to guarantee that but then apart from Warnock, who does? The other side is the long term project of the club and building a strong youth development system to take us to the next level. He's ideal for that. Can't be many better candidates for that role really.

Touch surprised by the love for Rooney. He’s a big name, but for the amount of money you’d have to pay him surely you could get a much better manager Me too- not sure what he's done to deserve so many calling for him. He's a big name, sure... but that's about it. He's also a big ego, and not exactly known for his intellect. He did quite well at Derby but Lampard did better, and look what he's done since- the square root of fuck all.

A woman or a rugby union coach, they'd still be better than Mark Hughes Given a choice of Hughes or Bruce, nobody else, which one would you prefer, out of interest ? Bruce. Don't get me wrong. I don't want Bruce. I'd just prefer him to Hughes. I'd also prefer Hughes to Fotheringham, before anyone asks.

Lee Carsley would be an interesting appointment and one I'd be happy with, not sure if it's just a random rumour.
He seems to be very highly regarded in the football world, I do accept the point that being England U21 manager and being the day to day manager of a Championship club is a different world.
Would have preferred this change to have occured post Christmas but I'd be happy with this.

Russell Martin might be available shortly. He can bore us all to death passing it around the back 4 and gifting goals to the opposition

Can someone ITK please rule out Nathan Jones. My blood pressure is struggling with the stress. Can't imagine anyone declaring being "pleasantly surprised" if Nutter Jones is appointed.
Would seem to be a big / biggish name who is respected.
If so, might suggest Parker, Lampard...
....or Felix with his "mate" Fotheringham as apprentice
Sounds like something someone would say about nice guy Dean Smith

US connection? Playing on our recent successes with a German(ish) Head Coach? (Not you, Buzz - get back in your box) Got to be Jürgen Klinsmann. I did think about that given the California connection as well. Then I came to my senses.

I did think about that given the California connection as well. Then I came to my senses. It wasn't a serious suggestion, mate. I rarely make serious posts about Town, it's just to try to add a bit of light relief to a seemingly never-ending stream of misery and woe about something that in the scheme of things, doesn't really matter all that much - much as I love Town. It's like a fecking morgue on here sometimes.

I've said on one post that Wiegman would be preferable to some of the names mentioned 🤷. Have you missed the bit where I said I'm not against him getting the job ?
