Remember being at Ewood park for that 4-3 league cup defeat that Simon Ireland did so well in that Dalglish bought him off us.
They were a top PL side and we were somewhere in division 3 or whatever it was called then, but we really matched them over two legs. One going in off big Ewans arse when he charged down their keeper I remember.
Pretty sure it was that game our end had a chant of 'Whos up Shearers wife' all through a minutes silence before kick off. Not that clever, especially when he then got a hat trick I think and really enjoyed rubbing our noses in it ( cant blame him )
And I still think its unfair that the home side in the second leg gets an extra half hour on their own pitch if it goes to extra time. Should just go straight to pens. It was that which did for us in the end.

One of the key things they were saying on the podcast (think it was AHTTC?...) was that with Moore you don't just get him you get this very decent backroom staff....they seemed to highly rate the GK coach......based on last night looks to be working well

Bit of a nutcase but cracking keeper if I recall correctly !

Wonder how these lads all feel?? I mean, if Moore goes likely they all go, but is the current dross all down to Moore or also his staff?….

Just imagine for a moment going from a brilliant tactician and manager at the beginning of this season to someone who it would seem cannot get his message across at all. Now that person can have the best staff around him but if the message is still unclear then the players will always under perform.

He has a team of about 5 doesn’t he? Thought it seemed bigger than usual, and to say we look uncoached it doesn’t say a lot for the work they’re doing. Although whether that’s poor management or poor coaching is hard to say.

Yeah I’m not sure. Agree seemed like a big team but would assume the failure is collective. Just wonder how much they are involved in the final tactics.
Call me old fashioned, I just like a manager with an assistant manager…

Call me old fashioned, I just like a manager with an assistant manager… It's not really a big team though. It's only 1 more than Warnock had. NW had Ronnie and then Carl Serrant & Ian Bennett. So 3 of them plus Warnock. Moore has 4 + himself. So it's only really 1 more coach. That additional coach is essentially Simon Ireland as the set piece coach. NW didn't have a specific set piece coach.

I guess it's very much a team effort with DM being the overall authority. Won't be cheap to get rid of. I don't remember any of their CVs being particularly impressive.

Nicholls has started to improve again the last few games, not sure how much of that can be put down to Basso though.
We're scoring a fair few from set pieces still, but not sure how much of that is down to the set pieces coach (is that the ex town player?)
All the other coaching areas deserve a lot of scrutiny. They're not incompetent or unlikeable enough to make us a total shambles, but we still don't have any recognisable patterns of play on the ball.

My point on the above being, we've increased the coaching team by 20% yet any sense of identity or patterns of play to our coaching are few and far between.
Some games we show evidence of specific drills being worked on - I remember wall passes into Hudlin one game which were pretty effective actually, mainly for Headley - but these are small tactical moves rather than a strategy and a way of playing coursing through the team.
We've increased the size (and potentially cost) of the team to go backwards.

All gone too.. Full clearout.. 🍻🍻 Would suggest, we have found and secured his replacement already along with their backroom staff. That could be the reason why DM was in charge a week or so longer (well months longer) to make sure we had everything sorted for his replacement so we weren't left in limbo. I'd imagine new manager and team will be in charge before Sheff Wed game.
