Hoyle set the budget and sold any player he could recoup any brass back, he left this squad with no footballers but the bang average that we're witnessing today. Hoyle did not set the budget. Baldwin did it along with the FC, Sasha. Hoyle had had enough by this point and just let big lad crack on with it. Whatever. We have been setting the budget lower and lower and the new owner did not change the direction.

Gonna be pretty much the same team again against Southampton maybe Harratt or Burgzorg up top, but park the bus style , 6 defenders playing, not looking forward to it

That is possibly the weirdest match I've ever seen. Borderline zero attacking intent from one of the teams particularly in the first half. Can't really knock the effort shown by the players (the quality is not really there of course). Wonder how they feel being sent out to play like that. The Manager seems to be basically admitting they are not good enough. Personally I'd rather they had a go, the last manager seemed to be able to get them to do that This is what I'm struggling with, that in the face adversity, it's all very timid without any guts or fight to try and show some spirit. Do you think Warnock would have sent them out like that? Genuine question because I don't think he would, I also certainly don't think we'd have seen some of the catastrophic results we've had under Moore either, we may well have lost those games but I'm pretty confident that we wouldn't have been 4 nowt down at half time at Leeds.

Taking in to account the injury crisis and the damage limitation of the last two games every Town fan should be absolutely fucking fuming with the club hierarchy old and new, though I'm prepared to cut the new hierarchy some slack due to the crap they've been dumped with but the club have only themselves to blame. This is the culmination of lack of investment in the first team squad by neglecting the academy (its producing very little), signing has beens and lower league shite. The club needs to wake up to the fact it needs to operate with a squad of 25 senior professionals. Hoyle baulked at squad strengthening after Wembley and as a direct result we find ourselves here. Exactly. Imagine for a minute you're Kevin Nagle though. Who do you need to give you these home truths and guide you through the first season or so avoiding disaster. I'm sorry but IMO the buck stops with Cartwright mainly and Edwards. The decision making so far has been utterly appalling and it's going to cost the owner a LOT financially and reputationally, already has in fact. KN is clueless and that's not a criticism, the people he's employed imo aren't up to scratch, nowhere near in fact. Feels like we need a change already and not just the coaching team. It needs someone capable of assessing everything, accurately. The present team have shown they're unable to do that or even get close to doing it. Any football person looks at that team, squad, performance and setup and calls it immediately. It's miles off and it's an embarrassment to the club and it's fans. Conceding 80 percent possession to a mediocre team in the same league and it's not a one off, far from it. It's not long since we were frustrated doing that v man city in the PL. We're now doing it Vs mid table Hull fecking City.

I recall a game on iFollow during lockdown, where we took the field with not 1 striker in the team ( of any quality) The sight of Thomas breaking on the right only to see absolutely no one upfront capable of getting on the end of a cross is appalling. It’s the fact that this has been a problem for years that I just don’t get. I watch a lot of football. I don’t know of any other club at our level in the same sorry state as us.

Total incompetence. If KN is being advised by incompetent people who are not capable of performing accurate squad assessments then I agree, they should be gone. A group of us on DATM could have produced a squad assessment report. We have all known for years what’s required. Not for crazy money. Just decent standard players .

Luton stats Vs Man Utd today are far superior in every way. Towns stats Vs a mediocre mid table Hull City are shameful and unprecedented.

Mark Cartwright, Sept 2023 We also wanted someone whose playing style fits the squad we have now, and the one we will develop together in the future. Darren doesn’t just play an attacking brand of football; he has a track record of making teams even more attack-minded the longer he works with them. I think this is one of the main reasons we are all so pissed off (apart from the dreadful football) Most Town fans know bullshit when they hear it. It may work in some places but not here. Stop bullshitting us and expect us to turn up week in week out. Isn't going to happen

Anyone know if Moore did his disappearance act again down the tunnel at the final whistle without acknowledging the town fans like at Elland road. No he applauded the supporters and also sorted a lift home for two fans who missed their coach back. Carry on slagging him off if it makes you feel better but grow some balls and be a bigger person I was asking if he walked down the tunnel without acknowledging the town fans simply because someone said he did. As for the rest you clearly need to grow up!

Poor game today again. Not at the races really.
Thought the Ref was a bit crap, appeared to blow, then play the advantage, or allow quick free kicks to be taken nowhere near the offence.
Not the reason we lost, but there’s some real dross officiating in the FL at present.
Going to get very toxic very quickly if things don’t start to change. I still doubt v much that he’ll be sacked, so we have to hope that there’s a turn in our fortunes. Maybe getting some players back from injury will give him a better deck to start with, but at present it’s pretty uninspiring being a Town supporter.
Our last meaningful goal was scored nearly 440 mins ago. That’s such a telling stat…

Our last meaningful goal was scored nearly 440 mins ago. That’s such a telling stat… Not checked, but if you're knocking off the consolation goals (& TBF that's not unreasonable) I think you also need to knock off the minutes when we couldn't have realistically scored anything but a consolation goal. The Leeds game would be quite short on that basis.

Goals are going to be scarce all season until we address the issue that’s being going on for a few years, lack of attacking threat. I’ve no issue with defensive minded tactics but for this to be effective you have to be ruthless when we break, or attack, we are currently toothless. Even if/when Ward comes back it won’t really change anything. We miss Rudoni’s creativity but that’s just unfortunate and part of the game. We can’t afford 2 players for each position that are equally as good. We are sound at the back, in my opinion, we just have to make sure we address the lack of forward players at the club asap. If we do this we will be fine.

Agree. At the moment you look at the players on the bench warming up at half time and realise we just don’t have anyone who we can bring on to change the game. Most of half time is spent with them prancing about warming up anyway......every home game I see the same thing. A minute or 2 with the ball (if they're lucky), whereas the opposition spend most of half time doing stuff with the ball, getting used to doing things with it (heading, control, passing, pass and move, etc) rather than 30 seconds for our lot and then chuck them on and have them play like they've never seen a ball before in their life

Until we get a midfielder who can really put their foot on the ball, it'll be the same I'm afraid. We haven't replaced Aaron Mooy. We saw fleeting spells from both Carel Eiting (no coincidence that when he got injured in 2021 we went horrendously off the boil) and Jon Russell, but otherwise we haven't had that. And Jack Rudoni isn't that player, as good as he is. We don't want him dictating from deeper. We want him in the opposition's half, linking and creating. Until we have players who are more comfortable on the ball in more advanced areas, we're going to record low possession. It's the only way to play when we do lack that competence, in defence of those who are playing.
Getting forwards back will help - the ball just won't return as easily to put our one competent area under pressure. Hudlin's a trier, but he isn't good enough for anything other than cameos off the bench on a regular basis yet. Ward, maligned as he is, is a better player than many are prepared to admit, and paired with someone else we'd see far more from him. Equally, the last couple of games we've realised how much we've missed Burgzorg. The lad might not know what to do with the ball half the time, but he gets it up the pitch. We don't have a ball-carrier other than him, unless we count Wiles, who is as close to Lewis O'Brien as we're likely to get any time soon.
That being said, we have to be bolder even with what we've got. Keeping it tight and defending for our lives won't win games. Two shots in 90 minutes is appalling. Players coming back will help but only if we're using them properly. We know next time Southampton will dominate possession, so we have to be bold when we do have the ball - have players on the shoulder, have a target man to hold the ball up, commit when we go forward. Southampton's back line has been suspect, so we need to get at them and make life uncomfortable when we have the ball. Sunderland (better side, yes, but still a team in this division) walloped Southampton by being decisive in possession. We need to use that blueprint.

If QPR ever get their act together we are in deep shit, with this manager and squad.Tnat is all I am saying! They will. They’ve got some decent players who just weren’t playing for Ainsworth as proven at our place a few weeks ago. Wednesday already looking like they need a miracle, unsure on Rotherham. But wouldn’t it be good to stop up not just because we were the 4th worst team in the division (what an accolade) again? Huddersfield Town, perennial Championship strugglers. Not much of a ring to it.

Dont know what Hoyles got to do with it, he brought Warnock in and he's told me personally he dosnt rate moore, its nowt to do with him. This squad is partly down to Hoyles atrocious management of the club in both his tenures, vastly underinvesting in it and selecting awfull managers a long the way who made us more unattractive than we already are, then after all that he managed to sell us to the poorest billionaire in the US. He brought Warnock in because he was desperate at the time, having failed miserably to manage the club properly since he took over from his last sale. Whether you like it or not, Hoyle is partly to blame. But only one relegation in his tenure...from the premier league.
