But people are using it. Do you think the club should abandon it all and if they are asked why just say “well, some posters on datm don’t want to use it so we’ve decided to close it down”.

For not seeing something that can't be seen unless you're coming in from the opposite side to the town 🤔. There is nothing at the South Stand side of the ground, where the majority of fans will come in from. Agreed. Presume because of the coach car park and the car park behind the South Stand, it is tricky to get something there. The old driving range could be a great location for something. A driving range? 😁

The fan zone is massively improved from what it was at the start of the season (although admittedly that’s not saying much!). I went yesterday with my little lad to watch the end of City v Liverpool on the big screen and thought it was decent, no massive queue at the bar for once too Still a long way to go to match most other clubs at this level but it’s a step in the right direction at least Putting a match on and the happy hour thing is a great idea, its just a shame the product on the pitch is so poor at the moment meaning people aren't really encouraged to arrive early and make a day of it. Feels more like a chore at the moment! Also its obviously going to struggle to attract people in the winter months.

Yeah you can 100% bring your own food and drink in to the ground. I questioned this a few weeks ago on another thread but have found out you definitely can Weirdly you're not allowed to take a Costa coffee in, warm liquid inside a paper cup must be classed as a dangerous weapon. You can buy a piping hot cup of brown liquid in the ground though, its definitely not coffee but its hot and comes in a paper cup same as Costa. Not sure about the logic behind that but pretty sure there isn't any. They'd probably do well selling proper coffee in the ground from a separate mobile outlet, especially in this weather.

I know mate it’s ridiculous. A coffee in a paper cup with the word Costa on it is not allowed but the same drink in a steel flask is ok.

It amazes me that any of this is an issue, seriously? I never buy food there, I'm not interested in the music as whatever they play it won't be to my personal taste, I never attend a fan zone. The only thing that concerns me is the on field business. English/European sports culture is not the same as American sports culture, the sooner they realise this the better. Who are you speaking for there, Art? You want them to bin it off because you'll never use it? What about the folk who do/will? If it doesn't make enough money to be viable, they'll shut it down. Until then, just ignore it mate if it bothers you so much.

Performance on the pitch has a massive knock on effect on absolutely everything. And you are right, much more likely to attract more people when we can get back to being excited about watching the match beforehand.

As has been said before, not ev1 lives in Huddersfield, many travel from 10 or 11 a.m to get to the ground and get home at 7. According to Art they should restrain from eating or drinking!

Just to provide a little bit of positivity, in the form of a good fan experience: I did Terrier 7s for my youngest daughter (turning 7 this week). www.htafc.com/news/2023/september/7s/For £25 we got: A shirt for my daughter presented to her by Terry the Terrier An adult and junior ticket £10 off voucher in the club shop when spending over £20. I'm already a season card holder with my older daughter, but the people I dealt with at the club were extremely helpful in arranging this all for me. I was able to pick any game, and chose the Southampton one. They arranged for the adult and junior ticket to be next to our existing season card seats in the Kilner Bank, my wife took the adult ticket (first match for 10+ years), I was also able to get £10 tickets for my Mum and Dad as part of the deal. My daughter really enjoyed her first game, and is very keen to go again (wants to know why we can't go to Sunderland on Wednesday night!), the £10 voucher got quickly spent, and we even managed to smuggle in a half eaten Subway sandwich. A positive experience, right from the first contact with the club about this, through to Ben Jackson's equaliser. FYI Justasmithers (some positive feedback for you to pass on for a change )

It would be interesting to see the numbers of how many fans have to make decent length journeys to get to a home game. Traffic levels after the game would suggest quite a lot.

No, far from it but if you're actually coming from afar, then you factor in an meal break somewhere that serves decent quality nosh not that shite.

You're not telling me that the catering is keeping fans away over the relative dirge on the pitch?

You're not telling me that the catering is keeping fans away over the relative dirge on the pitch? You are trying to correlate the two things when they are totally separate aspects. Should all coffee shops and food shops shut down when a game is on? Should Costa shut its doors on a Saturday afternoon by the cinema? Of course not. What if I don’t want a coffee, what if I’m there at 2pm and want a pint. What if I want to spend £6 on a sarnie? Surely that’s my choice? Yes, you’ll say ‘you must be mad’, but end of the day it’s my choice. I’m sure you spend money on things I would deem a waste of money. Just because you don’t want to do that doesn’t mean no one else does. It was rammed on Saturday, granted it was City/Liverpool and it was a dry day. It will be dead or not open in winter no doubt. There’ll always be those who choose not to use it and that’s fair enough. Luckily there’s enough people who do use it which I hope keeps it going.

We should all hope it keeps going - the more money that the club is able to raise from such sources then, in theory, the more money there is available to go to the cost of the playing squad or alternatively minimise the increase in ticket prices which is likely to come.

Sometimes will eat a 'meal deal' in the car whilst travelling but other times will look to get something at or in the ground. I could get something in the town centre but would prefer my money to go towards Town. The outlets inside used to pay KSDL a rent and then keep all the takings. I don't know how the fan zone outlets work - are they independent but paying Town to operate there or is the club getting the full profit on sales?

You go to a game to watch a football match. Income streams. The club have said they need to maximise revenue by whatever means they can. Sure, it’s overpriced, totally get that when compared to other clubs and they could look at that area, but if they were to stop offering food and drink, then other fans would be up in arms. You’ve made a choice, we hear you. Some fans make a choice to purchase at the ground, so the club should listen to them and try maximise their offerings to garner sales. When I go I don’t always have time to eat dinner beforehand so I do on occasion purchase a pie and drink, and I’m fairly local! For me, in the Winter months they need some form of heated shelter around the fanzone for those fans waiting outside, but then the Ropewalk would be a great addition as a Town fan pub as in indoor venue. After this may be make the Legends bar into more of a food outlet indoors pre-match? Lots of ideas, but some will take time. It’s a fine balancing act for KN and his team, trying to boost revenues, sort the stadium, whilst also navigating the on-field demands.

Difference being when the eldest was 7 the egg chasers were involved too so you got a Town shirt snd a Giants one and tickets for both too.

I just wondered how it was "good for the kids" Nobody is saying everything is OK. But why such hyperbole? Does it help? I've got a big problem with the club paying Danny Ward 10 grand a week (or whatever it is) for the next three years (or however long). I have no problem at all with the club giving fans the CHOICE to buy "shit, over-priced food".
