After a very promising display against Blackburn, let's hope we can continue playing on the front foot in this game and not go back to our negative, passive style.

We have to take yesterday as a blueprint to how we can play on the front foot. Boro are hit and miss and we are capable of beating them. Get into them from the off. Hope there’s no one carrying niggles from Boxing Day and we can go out with the same starting 11.

Will Nicholls be available?

Yes they can mix it with the best teams in the division, but they also lose games you wouldnt expect them to, still a decent team mind but we have a chance.

Will Nicholls be available? Someone said yesterday the concusion time recovery thing will be over so he will be available, only passing on what i heard so dont take it as neccessarily being true.

Think we are more than capable of winning but will depend on if Jekyll or Hyde turns up. One win doesn't mask numerous poor performances. Hopefully yesterday was a turning point for Moore and the players.

We really need to play the same starting 11 and continue on from Boxing Day but unfortunately I don’t think we are going to be able to due to injuries, which is a shame as we could start hitting a bit of confidence.

Watching the highlights it looks like Boro got sucker punched at Rotherham with a Yuta style cross come shot and should have had a penalty, but that was their 11th defeat of the season and are down in 14th for a reason. Let's get in their faces from the off.

Any news on injuries? Kasamu seemed to go straight down the tunnel after being substituted. He would be a big loss. And why didn’t Hogg get a rest after we went 3-0 up??

My first ever game was Town v Middlesbrough at Leeds Road on a Tuesday evening 30th March 1965. Les Massie nodded in the only goal of the game in the 14th minute at the open end. Yet, amazingly, I’ve only seen three more games between the two teams, the last being 40 years ago! I can never dislike Boro.
It really annoys me that games v Boro always seem to be evening games, it’s a matchup I really want to see because that first game meant so much to me. I’m not well at the moment, otherwise I might have driven up for this game.
You Town fans that can always easily get down to the JSS are lucky. Yes, honestly! Get down there on Friday and cheer the team on. Another 1-0 would do me fine.

A win for Boro yesterday would have put them level on points with top six & capped a glorious week for them which included reaching EFL cup semis, Town should beware that they will not be as poor as (self confessed worst performance of season) Blackburn......A point hopefully playing football & not full scale defending.

We need to try to replicate the same performance against Boro. They are inconsistent and can be beaten. They also like to play out from the back, so a high press would seem the sensible approach to take if we are going to give ourselves a chance to get at their defence.
Boro are a decent team on their day, and replicating the Blackburn performance might not be enough if they play well. But win, lose or draw, I want to see the style we saw on Tuesday implemented again. It might not work, but I would suggest it will work more often than sitting deep and hoping we can hold out.

To be fair mate, only in the mid 80's was it a reasonably regular fixture even then it was only for 3 seasons, then a huge gap until the 2000's, where it becomes reasonbley regular. We haven't been in the same division that many times, I wouldn't have thought, since the first meeting you saw.

Kasamu Thomas Burgzorg Rudoni ...its absolutely crucial that they are fit and up for it and playing in the right positions. With Lees Helik and Hogg we have decent spine. Trouble is one injury and we're screwed.

My first game was against L@@ds Unt in March 1962 where we won 2-1 that was a night game and I struggled to stay awake the following day in school.

I know Blackburn did have a spell in Division 3 in the 1970's but did we play them during that period, I have a feeling we dodged each other.

I think Middlesbrough will be a much tougher proposition. They might be a little inconsistent but they are a good side. I have a feeling that our very thin squad together with injuries to some key players might mean we limp towards January irrespective of what we think about our manager. A point would be great and then we can forget about results (Leicester and Man City away ) and concentrate on adding some quality/back up to the squad. I think we need a minimum of 4 players but I’m not sure what our budget looks like and who will be available. PL loan deals I think are our best bet?

Just a bloody pity that Rotherham fluked a win against them on Boxing Day for two reasons...
1) It meant they unexpectedly matched Town points wise.
2) Middlesbrough will be pissed off about that and angry and likely take it out on us on Friday evening.
I’ll be travelling back home to The Whisky Isle while this game is in progress so will be greatfull to DATM for updates that night !

They went down in 66 but straight back up, though if memory serves me right there was talk of money changing hands for the last match,, but I could be wrong. Year they went down we beat them 6-0 and 3-1 In all competitions we've actually met 102 times. Back then Boro had a 2 win advantage, now it's 10, mostly from recent seasons, though we've done better the last couple of seasons. www.11v11.com/teams/middlesbrough/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Huddersfield%20Town/

Will Nicholls be available? I think that'll be up to him and him telling the medical team how he feels? It didn't seem much of a knock the other day especially compared to what centre halves get almost every match. Christopher Schindler would have only played 2 games a season if he'd wanted to. If he doesn't make himself available I'd be disappointed.

If Nicholls is still out then opportunity knocks for chapman. I didn’t realise he was 23. Hardly makes him a kid and he really should be knocking on the door of first team football by now. Good luck to him if he does play.
Ayina in to replace kasumu at right back/wing back ? Or play thomas there and bring in Koroma ?

Good team are Boro but nowhere near the squad they had last season . Similar to Blackburn , capable of doing us 4-0 but have a weak defence that can be exploited.
I’d not change much , not that we have much scope to anyway , with Nicholls (or Chapman) in for Maxwell.
Think we really push for something in this game before trying to shore up against Leicester with a 5-4-1 .
Going into the two games I said I’d be happy with 4 points and a draw isn’t the end of the world but how nice would it be to get six ?!

Defo Blackburn, remember going to Ewood on route to Blaggers once at Easter (Good Friday) in the 3rd division, they were near top & we were desperate for points.....Doh, how could I forget Coventry, most obvious.

Why not chuck a win at City in for a 1500/1 treble (Boro 3/1, LC 14/1, MC 28/1)......Bit stingy from Skybet should be at least 3000/1, safe bet is a point tomorrow at a generous 11/4.
