Strange how losing to Middlesbrough at home when we were the best team keeps happening. That’s twice now in our recent history! I said that having a beer after the game. Players tonight were magnificent, yes they & we are disappointed in the final result. But continue the desire, passion & believe in their workrate & ability. Things are definitely on the up. The squad is threadbare! Kevin they / we need some help next Month.

Doesn't help no, but the fact we had the better of the game regardless of penalty shouts but couldn’t capitalise due to players being flat out on their arse at 70 mins is the reason. Ok In other words, you can't blame Darren Moore for this defeat so you and several others are forced to clutch your straws and blame Dean Hoyle.
Jumping to a conclusion there! I never mentioned Dean Hoyle did I? I hope these last two performances are a sign of things to come from Darren Moore! If he keeps it up then I will be more than happy. The fact still remains that our squad is wafer thin, see the bench last night. Who exactly is to blame for that I am unsure, I think it most likely falls on numerous peoples head.

"Fact" - please use the word properly. Are you genuinely saying that it wasn't a penalty ? There's an argument that we could have had a penalty certainly. Otherwise I thought the referee had a good game. Opinion. We’ve had better penalty shouts turned down is a counter argument there player goes down very easily He looked for contact/dived

Football is hard sometimes, you set up for games to defend and get a point, they you go all out in games and play fast attacking football, and being the better team, and come away with 0 points.
Wagner had the knack, go all out with attack and get a goal, then defend the lead to the end and get all 3 points.

Two games, two excellent performances. I don't think anyone doubts that we lack quality and depth for which Moore certainly isn't to blame. I do wonder what's happened recently for us to start playing like this. Did Kevin have a word after the tweet? Either way they've got me back onboard. Passion, playing for each other and a bit of bite. We look like we did under Warnock. I wonder too. We braved the elements tonight - first game since Watford at home way back in early November - although many decided to give it a miss again. Lots of empty seats around us in the Riverside lower this evening. What a turn up! We can play a bit when we choose to and should never have lost that game, officials cost us no doubt. Helik and Lees looking really solid together, Sorba getting better and better, Koroma never stops going, even Wiles starting to look like the player I thought we were getting. Had us down for a defeat tonight but not in the manner it ended up. Been one of Darren Moore’s biggest critics but that performance on top of Boxing Day much improved, hopefully these 2 performances are not flashes in the pan. As others have said, if only we had some strength in depth 😠. Only 2 days til year end and another window and I really, really hope whoever is in charge of transfers is at the races early.

Still 50/50 as to whether Boro should have been a penalty but ours def was. Your cannot stick your hand in the air and clear it. Carrick must be mad with his defender for giving away such a soft penalty. Oh!

This was the first game I have attended since Leeds away. I’d had enough to be perfectly honest after Leeds and Cardiff.
Tonight though, felt refreshing. Them players involved gave their all - unlucky to not come away with something.
The players haven’t failed us tonight Darren Moore didn’t fail us An absolutely fucking shocking summer transfer window did fail us. We just lacked that cutting edge.

We had a better shout turned down at 0-0 about 30 mins earlier Fairly sure it was the same ref tonight that gave the soft pen dive to Dan James on Boxing Day also. These refs make mistake after mistake and carry on being classed as ‘elite’ If it was, he needs demoting quickly. The James one was bad, tonight was laughable. He clearly doesn't understand football.

Watch the match again and you will see. A massive let down tonight. You seem to be just about the only one with this view. You have to wonder about someone who hasn't posted all season who then picks tonight, which has possibly been the performance of the season, to have a go at half the team. Can only conclude he/she has been banged up for 6 months and has just been released.

Annoying one that tonight we played really well and didn’t deserve to lose unfortunately lack of options on the bench cost us, was crying out from some fresh legs on but obviously Moore just doesn’t trust the young lads enough to put them on in a game like that. I believe 3 of the bench (REG, Austerfield and Hudlin) are classed as senior players ie over 21 as well as all the starting 11. There are though 9 senior players unavailable due to personal reasons (Edwards) and injury - Nicholls, Maxwell, Ruffels, Pearson, Turton, Jackson (is over 21) Burgzorg and Ward. Undoubtedly the quality of the senior squad needs to be better but even if the other 2 spaces in the max 25 senior squad had been filled - presumably they were being held for the signings we weren't able to make in the summer then the bench was always going to be filled with U21s.

Encouraging performance last night. I just wish Moore would show some faith in those on the bench - fresh legs, energy, and a desire to take their opportunity to shine.

Della out because of that challenge and the club are getting a second prognosis.
We need signings quickly not at the end of the transfer window.
Fairly certain now that Rhodes will Be recalled.

it was not confirmed....... DM doesnt really say anything about injuries as normal he does not want to give much away. LN was training today and depending on doctors maybe available tomorrow, this will be decided tomorrow. BJ should be fine to be back in the squad DK I think he will be missing unless a lot better tomorrow. MP out for at least a month maybe longer. Maxwell very doubtful I expect he will not make the game tomorrow. Surprised to see David Kasumu manage the full match and Ben Jackson not to be in the squad, thanks for your insider knowledge

Nice to see Glover, a fellow Aussie of Chapmans, walk the length of the pitch to have a reassuring word with him and an arm around the shoulder at the end of the match. Good man.

Came away from a defeat happier than the win over qpr . We looked pretty much the better team and that performance alongside the Blackburn one gives me confidence if we recruit well in January .
Difference , alongside a pisspoor referee, was the strength of the bench . They brought on several accomplished championship players in McGree , Engels and even Coburn to an extent compared to ours of REG and Hudlin.
Ref was extremely poor second half. Stonewall handball not given , a lot of soft fouls given , their number 24 diving four times (booked once but given the free kick the other three).
Thought there were many good performances . Contrary to other posters I thought Nakayama Wiles and Rudoni all looked good but stand out was Thomas . Chapman unfortunate to concede so soon after a cracking penalty save .
If we had Turton , Ruffels, Pearson , Ward , Burgzorg on that bench and strengthen up top and on the wing, I honestly think we win that game 3-1

Otherwise I thought the referee had a good game. Opinion. Watch this and tell me how their lad is horizontal with two legs into wiles from him just standing there. The ref was absolutely gash. We did not deserve to lose in any world. Looks like he played for it... the boy must practice those all week. A shocker yes, but you see them week in week out. VAR would have overturned that, but do we really want it in the Championship?

Looks decent for most of the game then does something stupid or terrible. His defending for the first goal last night was certainly the latter.

Helik and Lees completely out of position. Nakayama is Left Centre/Left Back. He had to come all the way over to cover the poor positioning from the other 2. He shouldn't be having to come to far across if others defend correctly.

To be fair to Yuta as well, this is over shadowed by their miss, but he was the one there clearing off the line when Helik and Lees had seemingly given up on it. The pace of the ball was still taking it over the line.

It wasn't the same ref - it was meant to be but there was a late switch. We ended up with someone doing his 4th Championship game - of which 2 of them have been our games. Hopefully he'll be back in League 1 next week

Looking at that bench last night totally highlights the weakness of the squad (as if we didn't know already). We're always going to have players injured, as does every club, but for us it immediately exposes the lack of depth we have. In the latter stages of games we'd hope for fresh impetus from the bench but we didn't have that. I'm pretty sure DM will be saying this to KN next week and pointing out 3 points were there for the taking last night had we the numbers. Conceding around 8 goals in the last 15 minutes so far this season highlights our lack fresh legs of a suitable standard.Throw in we had no strikers available last night and KN has some work to do if we want to stay up.

He was the left of the 3 as the ball was played and saw and picked up the man who ran through. He misread the ball and missed it completely to let the striker in. It was terrible defending.

Very bad night in terms of results,,,ours and the other strugglers...but I feel much more confident we'll be ok in a nice safe mid table place by May after that game than I did before it.
Thought a lot of our attacking play was excellent as was the desire an energy throughout. Just one of those night s where crucial things went against us...ref decisions, Hogg going off, a rather spawny winner..
But loads of positives to take from that. Thought Sorba was excellent..the best player on the pitch and he actually looks like he wants to play for this club again and is enjoying it. Closely followed by Rudini who is really starting to look a quality player at this level. Best Ive seen Wiles play too...maybe hes finally 100% fit?
Headley, Lees, Helik, Yuta...there were good performances all over the pitch and our use of the ball and movement were so much better than its been recently.
If we maintain anything like that performance we wont have anything to worry about.
