Quality before quantity as otherwise a waste of time
Need to loan out those who arnt up to scratch and bring in those who have the ability to do the job

Loans will be the key, we need impact loans like that of Smith-Rowe level. I don't think we'll be able to bring in established pros who've been there and done it.
We might be able to pluck one or two from teams at the top end such as Leicester or Southampton.
Didn't we manage to get Smith-Rowe and Willock due to the Cowley contacts at Arsenal? Might be wrong.

I'm sure I read on here that Cowley gave impression he got Smith Rowe in but it was really down to DOF at the time, Webber maybe or his successor?

Can we send Edwards back? Given how light we are at right back and he hasn’t managed any game time in the last 11 games. I can’t see him playing again especially if we get another right back or Turton is fit. I’d rather send him back and recall Spencer.

4 decent players will keep us up but you'd need another 12 in the summer and a clear out toturn us in to top 10/play off/promotion material.

I'd say we need 6 players in, 4 first team ready and 2 cover. RB, AM, LW, ST and a cover CM, CB

No, the DoF at the time. If it'd been through the 2 Rons they'd never have stopped mentioning it.

It's a massive task, in theory we need at least 4 players who would go straight into the first team & be a big improvement on what we have & then possibly a couple more to improve the bench.
In reality, the best we can hope for are loans from higher clubs, where the players may have the talent but might lack experience, or signings from abroad, who again have the talent but may not take to the physicality of the Championship.
It's going to be a big sell to get the right players here & you have just as much a chance of getting an Mbete than a Colwill, if you are relying on Premier League youngsters.

We need players better than we currently have if we're serious about progressing as a club, not just squad fillers to top up the bench.
This is not the window to bring in players with future potential or players that'll take a month to get match fit, we need them ready to hit the ground running and be ready for the rigours of Championship football from the second they step through the door.
4 good championship players minimum, more if others leave.
It's going to cost more to do it this window, but that's the fault of the club for not doing it in the summer when it was glaringly obvious we needed more quality and quantity to the squad.

You’ve had your ear to the ground historically; are you suggesting five deals for Terriers inbound?

for me it’s 4
Right Back Left footed CB Ball playing Midfield Striker
then play 433
Nicholls
RB Helik Left Footed CB Yuta(if he leaves select from subs below)
Hogg Ball playing Midfielder Rudoni
Burgzorg Striker Thomas
Subs from
Maxwell/Chapman Koroma Wiles Lees Kasumu Headley Jackson Ward Pearson Turton Ruffles High (recall from loan, sell in the summer, use in squad till then) Rowe (recall from loan. He’s done well. DM to have a look at him as there is a player there)
I know there’s a few injuries, but i think Pearson is back soon, Turton was supposed to be available in February, Hopefully Ward and Ruffles are not out too long. If Burgzorg is out for a period of time, then we’d need another starting striker, or start Koroma and a replacement on the bench
Sell Diarra & REG. Loan out Austerfield, Ayina, Hudlin and Iorpenda, possibly Stone if there’s a National League or L2 team interested

Gone for 5/6 but that is probably unrealistic so say 4 but every single one of them needs to be ready to go; none of this “we need to get them up to speed” malarkey so expect them ready in a month, nobody turning up carrying an injury, nobody coming for one last payday a la Knockeart or Puncheon, etc. And no more excuses about fax machines please!

I would say 4 in January that are better than what we have and are ready to play from the off regardless if they are loans or permanent's and then we need 6 or 7 at the end of the season

As long is one is a proven striker who can score goals (expensive I know) then I’d splash any cash we have there and see what is left!

I could not say, at the very least 3 competent championship players if we had a good manager. If we keep DM I would up that to 5.
It also depends on what the other teams around us do. If the other clubs match what we do we may not be any better off even if we do strengthen.

In order of priority:
Creative midfielder: Someone who can pick a pass that splits defences, and can dictate the pace of the game, speeding it up or slowing it down as appropriate. A Mooy or Eiting type. This is top priority because we simply don't have one.
Striker: Our options are either injury prone, B-Teamer that's ok for a cameo, or a winger out of position. One reason I disagree with needing a LW is because if we can get the striker situation sorted we can move JK &/or Burgzorg out to their favoured position. Or Pat Jones if we can ever get him fit.
Defensive midfielder: Expecting 35 yr old Hogg to play 3 games a week is daft. Expecting REG to perform consistently at 2nd tier standard is a recipe for disappointment.
Right Wing: Sorba is great, but there's no cover or competition = you can't rotate him out so tiredness and injury becomes more likely.
Another Striker: We look so poor up front, we probably need another option if only in case the first one doesn't hit the ground running.
Right Back: (although Turton may come back as good as before, and Jackson is improving)
Left footed CB (but Yuta and Ruffels are acceptable options)

Need 4, would like 7.
1. Out and out striker over 6 foot. 2. Left sided centre back. Yuta is probably off to the Asian Cup for the next month, and is probably off at the end of the season anyway. Replace him ahead of time if we can. 3. Midfielder, someone filling the role that Eiting, Mooy and Russell had. Deep lying, not necessarily athletic, but creative. 4. Right back 5. Competition on the wings 6. Another striker
+ replacements for any that leave

I can see two incoming, a midfielder and a striker. The latter needs to be a proven goalscorer at this level or equivilent.
So long as we don't have a shocker with injuries that should be enough to keep us up.

I am quite surprised that people think we only need a couple of signings. I look at the bench today and we need a minimum of 7 players just to give us a chance. We need a player for back up in every position except keeper. We dont have a single player available that is Championship level to come in. Its appalling that we have people running the club who thinks this is acceptable.

The chances are we are going to be really exposed today for what we are: a club in serious need of a rebuild. We are also going to find out to what extent Nagle is actually committed to achieving success, whatever or however it is defined. For me a place in the Championship is sufficient. I see little in the greedy league to interest me at all.

The issue that many appear to be forgetting is that you're limited to a squad of 25 (plus any U21s). Seems strange to say it but by my calculations unless we get rid of anyone (loan or permanent) we have only two spaces left.
A lot of the "kids" we've been playing are late developers. Players like Headley and Jackson may be seen by us as kids breaking into the first team but they're 22, 23 years old. They count towards the total.

Expectations for too high in this thread IMO. For one this is Town and secondly it difficult to do business in Jan. Best we can hop for IMHO:
Rhodes to be marketed as new signing
1 or 2 bench warmers from mid table championship clubs on loan.
Loved to be proved wrong but cannot see 5 or 6 first teamers coming in. Not many will be keen on a championship relagation battle
