Not sure we've done any of the young lads any favours not getting that many out on loan these last couple of seasons. Diarra case in point but this is for another thread Whilst I get the point………at what time do we expect one or more to be really pushing for regular first team football here? REG is approaching 25, High is v nearly 23, Austerfield 22, Ayina nearly 21 as is Diarra. The first 4 have all had loan spells away and in Ayina’s case seemed to do ok north of the border. It’s been a problem for a few years now bridging the considerable gap between u23 football and the first team here. To say that Ayina and Diarra are nearly 21 is a bit misleading. Ayina is mid April and Diarra early July.. So really that are both still very much 20…. The other thing to remember is that they’ve both hardly played. Diarra’s played 37 Champions games and 10 in league 2. Loads of those matches as sub Ayina has played 2 Championship matches for us coming on as a sub, and 12 in the Scottish Premiership They are generally coming up against players between 5-10+ years older than them and anywhere from 200 - 450 matches in the bag. Both should really be on loan in League 1. Diarra was supposed to go on loan to L1 last season but got injured at the end of pre season. Ayina was supposed to go this season, but had an injury from the end of last season that ultimately needed an operation after the Boro League Cup match I think. Neither should be anywhere near our first team squad at the moment. Of the others you’ve mentioned REG & High probably need to move on and Austerfield probably has 12 month out on loan and then a final chance. However, i notice you’ve not mentioned 22 year olds Jaheim Headley or Ben Jackson. Or 21 year old Kian Harratt. Or 20 year old Pat Jones. Headley is really pushing for a regular start. Jackson is proving his worth in a few positions. Harratt definitely an option off the bench and if Pat Jones had hamstrings that didn’t snap i’m sure he’d be on the bench most weeks

We weren’t 90 mins from the Prem, we were 2 absolutely stone wall pens from the Prem. We might not have scored the penalties. Penalties aren't automatic goals. And there again we might have scored either one or both the penalties, better to take the positive rather than the obligatory negative 🤩😉

The opportunity would have been nice… Forest were no great shakes that day, an OG winning promotion for them. All very moot of course. I think we’d have struggled if we had won, but the general trajectory of where we find ourselves today would have been altered.

Oddly, for a team which is top of the league by a mile, packed with stars and able to score at will, Leicester really are insanely boring to watch. Was wondering why their fans were some of the worst I've ever seen in 50+ years (Sheffield United last season very similar), maybe you've hit the nail on the head. The only times the crowd are up at the JSS are when we go on a counter or have a few mins of pressure on the opposition goal. We’re an all or nothing side really. If we played tippy tappy football like many clubs do in this division, the JSS crowd would be much the same. Modern football is quite boring really, the best games are still the ones that are e2e.

I was bench pressing 200K when 20 and unbeaten in 10 bare knuckle fights.{that is cage fighting nowadays} these lads are overpaid nancies P.S. I voted for a .win in the poll

Would have to agree,Warnock worked wonders last season but I don’t remember him having too many injuries to contend with. The football in general has improved from mostly everything pre Bristol at home with a couple of,I would say, good home performances in there too. However the results are still unfortunately as inconsistent. The next four league games could be very very important. Are you mad, we were thrashed 4-0 by Leicester City, who rested players today, we were all over the place! Warnock was a revelation, compared to Darren Moore, ok we have injuries, most teams have injuries to key players. We look like a relegation team, I want DM to be successful, at Town, there was improvement v Blackburn & Boro, unfortunately under Darren Moore, we're en route to English Football League 1. Teams such as Rotherham, Wendies & QPR are battling for survival, whereas we look doomed. The prospect of playing Citeh next week is scary, we shipped 4 today, could it be 10 at the Etihad Stadium? Don't tell Helik he didn't score yesterday, he'll not be happy.

His post match comments, were predictable, truth is Leicester didn't have to work too hard, to put 4 past Town!

Pretty damning actually as well that at the beginning of January our top scorer is a centre back with 7 goals

Ref giving them everything. Dreadful One of the most biased ref performances I’ve seen in a while Allison, the ref, did us at Birmingham too..another 1-4 result..

Not sure where/when the play off robbery came into this thread. Since it did though, here is a bit of maths.
A penalty has an xg of 0.76. Taking them as independent events, the chances of us missing both would be less than 6%. The probability of scoring both would be 58%.
Some sites give the xg as 0.79 so that would change the probabilities to around 4.4% and 62%
So, taking all that into account, we're still shit and have a high chance of getting relegated.

But isn't that why Hoyle scrapped the academy and followed the Brentford model?..KN doesn't seem impressed as he's scrapping the Brentford model and going back to where we were. Round and round we go.... I think he thinks they can just produce championship quality footballers rather than buy them. Naive. Been there, tried it, didn't work, won't work. I guess his yes men must have agreed it's a good strategy even though the evidence points to the contrary.

Blimey talk about 'modern football', i'd much rather stick to...Leicester deserved to win but we actually created some decent chances, in fact probably created more chances than in our last 5 away games combined...well maybe not Sunderland which we won. But once again conceding at very bad times 40 and 47 mins this week, no way back from that second one.
