Only thing I could think of being any sort of 'leveller' is it's the last of the Xmas fixtures crammed together but even that will probably affect us more than them with our thin squad so a bit straw clutching. They have shown so far they are a bit too good for the championship so not expecting anything from this one despite apparent improvements in our performance last couple of games. We'll need a lot of luck... we'll need some superb performances and it would be handy if one of theirs got sent off.

The 1st fixture of the NY over the last 20 years has seen only two victories in consecutive seasons under David Wagner away at Bolton & Wigan, also in the same period is a 9-1 aggregate in defeats at the Walkers stadium over two NYD visits. Town have bigger fish to fry between this game & Southampton away (Feb 10) another unlikely place to collect points, so if we need to rest a player with a knock or chance of suspension then IMO we should......PA, ,BR, QPR & SW are the teams we have to set our sights on firmly to achieve survival.

Clutching at straws here but when do players leave for African cup ? I know some start the training camps on 4th , would be nice if Leicester lose a few due to this 😂🤣😂🤣

Might have been on the radio, but they apparently have the highest value/paid squad ever assembled in the Championship. The fattest wallet doesn’t always win of course, but it gives you a better chance of success. You just never know sometimes, we’ll all be sat there at 3PM hoping for one of those days. Long time ago and a different level of competition, but I always remember that game at Sincil Bank where we took their unbeaten home record with a 2-1 win. Here’s hoping… 🤞

I was at both those Leicester defeats too. The next point we get at the Walkers will be the first. Since we drew 1-1 at Filbert Street in 1969-70, we’ve lost all 8 away league games. Saw the 1969 game - Town looked magnificent to a 13 year-old, really slick passing and movement in bright sunshine on an early-ish season pitch and a rare goal from Chopper. Followed it with 3 of those 8 defeats, 2-0 in 1971-72, 2-1 in 1995-96 when Bully scored a 25 yarder and 4-2 at the Walkers (I forget when and can’t be arsed looking it up) when our non-scoring strikers both scored remarkable goals. Although we haven’t won in the league at Leicester since 1954-55, and have won only twice at home since the 1950s, we are still 28 to 26 ahead of them in games won, and theirs includes the Simod Cup. For the first 10 games in the 1910s, they were Leicester Fosse - we won 5 to their 4, so we’re beating City as well, by 2 if we count the FA Cup and not the Simod. Was it New Year’s Day in 1988 when we were given a day off in the worst season ever and drew 1-1 at promoted Aston Villa? My New Year’s resolution is not to look anything up any more: if I can’t remember it, it’s not worth writing it, which would at least be in keeping with many of my posts. But I did look up our record against Leicester, ha ha.

Here’s hoping… 🤞 ….and Blackburn’s two years later. Weren’t they top with something like 10 wins and a draw at home and they’d just beaten Leeds? Lincoln had just beaten Bournemouth, I think, 9-0 in their last home game and the BBC guy said ‘spare a thought for Huddersfield who have to travel to Lincoln’. And we gave them a goal start. Never two without three, but that saying might also apply to New Year’s Day beatings at the Walkers.

Tough, tough game which I think will be one too far for us unfortunately . Defensively Leicester aren’t amazing but their attack will prove way too much for us.
Think it will be 3-0 - we’ll defend resolutely but floodgates to open in second half . My team would be as close to the Boro game as possible - even chapman who doesn’t deserve dropping.

Aston Villa was New Year's Day, Shearer scored with a header and there wasn't there a bomb scare or something? And you might as well chuck the Simod Cup defeat in there as well. Think there was a few on here who attended that game, think Dugnet was one of them.

Did we score an overhead kick or something? Seem to remember our goals been great, but their quality took over second half.

Thanks for confirming, it would gave been 1987 too not 88. I don't remember the Shrewsbury game, the heady days of Shrewsbury being in the 2nd tier, bet their fans would kill for that these days.

Give them a good game. Don’t finish with a 4+ goal loss.

Unusually positive.. probably as he's let the waterboy do the teamtalks now.
Randomly think we will bring home the bacon. But would still sack Darren.. 3 wins in 18.. hoping its 4 wins in 19 which is still shocking.

Im a stupid happy clapper but I think they will under estimate us, constantly be on the attack and therefore be potentially prone to a counter which is where we have been looking our best lately.
If Burgzorg plays, I honestly think we can get something.

Tough tough game today.away from home,Leicester look quality(though they should be) Their squad will have been and can be rotated with little detriment…ours most have played most minutes in all of the 3 games in the last 10 days. I fear we might just be a bit flat potentially and they won’t. Could see them coasting to 2-0 without really trying but hopefully we avoid any large score line. It’s a free hit though to be honest. Without any new injuries I’d say probably the same team with Nicholls coming back in. Attacking performance like last two isn’t required hopefully we can pull off a bit of a shock result.UTT

Feels more like groundhog day than NYD, a year ago today 3rd from bottom Town played top four Luton having just won two on the trot with a manager the majority wanted rid of, five winless games later he was gone......New man mid Feb again? Wouldn't bet against it.

I thought we'd be a big price today, but 14/1 - that says it all really, a gaping chasm in squad quality.

Leicester.....won 20 games out of 25 played....more than twice as many points on the board as Town....scored twice as many goals, and conceded less than half as many as Town. Their fans should be in for a treat today.....:-(
