I suspect we'll see Kasumu more as a RB from now on. Wiles doesn't look remotely fit or possibly his injury last season was worse than we thought when we signed him? Yeh I think he’s probably struggling with the injury wiles.Whatever anyone thinks of him so far though he’s a much much better option than what we currently have from the bench.Much less of a drop off.Personally I still think there’s a good player in there maybe because I played in midfield myself I notice things he’s trying to do,they just don’t appear to be coming off right now. On Kasumu if we do recall spencer and Turton isn’t a million miles away plus Jackson I aren’t sure he does carry on there. That article said matos can be a 6 also, maybe some games we see him there with Kasumu and rudoni in front and other games Hogg comes in and he moves forward and one of the others drops out. Love how already thinking about it considering it’s not official 😀 Probably not the right place for this but I don't think we can get too hopeful regards Turton. It'll be going on some 19-20 months since he regularly played. Two really nasty injuries in short succession. He'll need time to settle himself back in, if he comes back the same player is another matter.

What's his best position? He looks positionally flexible, which is no bad thing, but where will he be looking to nail down a spot in the first XI? Based on our starting XI we can let him choose

I do tend to agree to be honest.I think he was maxing out his ability anyway when he was a regular in the side.To come back like you say after so long out going to be tough ask.

Not a clue whether he’s any good or not but I like the fact that he’s versatile which with our threadbare squad is vital.

This sounds very promising, the fact he's regularly been on the Chelsea bench this season would suggest he's real quality. It should..there again Mbete was regularly on Man Citys bench!!

Feels like a very good start to the window and good to see the Chelsea connection is back in operation.

Replacement for Wiles?

If you Google him it says he’s a winger however if you read that athletic article sounds like he’s basically a central midfielder now.Can play as an 8 more box to box or a 6 so my guess we play him there. You can’t imagine Chelsea sending him and not having a say to some extent. Midfield trio of Hogg, Matos and Rudoni? Shame that we sold Camara, could have had a midfield that was quite taxing for the opposition…

Give him time I personally think with regards to Wiles, i think the big injury he had has taken a lot out of him. The problem is, will Wiles ever get back to his previous form?

I don't think it helps when our lack of business puts so much pressure on players to perform straight away either. If we has depth players like Wiles can be eased in. Same happened with Rudoni last year, expected to step into LOB shoes and its taken him a season to get to championship level...

Wiles is not crap, he has just been in a position where it's not working out for him; with this new las and hopefully more coming in midfield, it can take some pressure off and allow him to get fully fit / back to where we think he should / could be

Haven't seen the lad play but by what I've read he seems to be someone who we need. It's a start, let's get a few more through the door sharpish. Palmer, Brown, Colwill, we tend to do well from Chelsea.

I appreciate it doesn't guarantee anything but 5 mins on Google and Twitter seem to suggest he is university rated so I'm going to remain positive! Seems he's been converted to a CM too so even better if he can help sort out the midfield and play RW. It's a good start to the January window I think.

Wiles was brilliant at West Brom, don’t know why it’s not working out so far but i’ve not given up on him.

Wiles was brilliant at West Brom, don’t know why it’s not working out so far but i’ve not given up on him. He's got all the attributes we need. He has bags of ability. He had a big injury last year, and has come here at a time of turmoil. He's been played in various systems, various roles and in an unsettled side. And he picked up another injury. We need to learn not to write players off in a handful of games. Some players take a season to adapt - look at Rudoni. Look at Hogg! He was awful in the first half of his first season. Added nothing... ten years later...

He doesnt run comfortably at the moment. There was a bit in the first half at borough where he didn't make a run down the left that looked to be simple, and one he'd normally make. Wasn't sure if he was blowing or just not 100%. He may be being asked to play through something, given how paper thin our squad depth is.

If you look back at the clips from his announcement video(and I have because I’m that sad) he looks at least a half yard quicker and sharper.I’d be amazed on seeing him for us if he isn’t still carrying something or for whatever reason he just can’t get back fully fit. Like iv said he looks to do bits that others don’t in our midfield, such as little one twos in and around the box and balls round the corner and then play off it.it just doesn’t seem to be coming off.

He was a solid 6/10 player week in week out, and I think everyone is hoping he comes back as a 6/10 player consistently because we don't have another fullback who gives us that.
