Apologies if already posted, but really enjoyed watching this historic piece someone has put together.
It’s mainly a montage of old images of the team and Leeds Road down the years, loads of historic images that people might not have seen before/were new to me at least.

I enjoyed watching this the other night. They've used the 35mm photograph I took at the "End of an Era" game v. Blackpool in 1994 (37m 08). It was just before the final whistle and pitch invasion. I fluked snapping the lad stood up with his arms outstretched. Does anybody recognize him? Attachment Deleted

A bit sneaky of Citeh to copy our 5 trophies picture of 1926 (9m 25s) recently. Its a pity Town did not request the EFL for a home game on the final day this season.....Coming a day after our 100 anniversary 1st title, sure they have something planned for May 3rd.

Bollocks to fighting Daleks, if I had a Tardis I'd pop back 100 years to experience this first hand.

Home of my dreams...I miss the place
I still have the a4 sized programme from that final match and it's in as good a condition today as the day I bought it
The young guns of today will never realise how big the ground was....the east terrace could hold more than the jjs capacity...and it was one of the largest pitch side terraces in the uk
I can only think of the terrace at the valley(Charlton) and maybe the Kippax at maine Road that were bigger
It was very strange watching games from the back of the terrace and seeing our new home being built across the road....
Gone but will never be forgotten

Nearly 30 years at the John/McAlpine/Smith stadium, but my previous 30+ years at the old Leeds Road still holds many more happy memories.

God I miss that place, never forget my first glimse of the floodlit pitch as a wide eyed 5 year old, it was a tuesday night in 1980 in the old division 4, my dad took me we were in the main stand and I was awestruck, the noise, the smell of bovril. Can't remember who we were playing but we won 2-0 and stevie Kindon scored. I was hooked for life. Dad took me sporadiclly over the next few years but I was 12 before I was allowed to go with friends and stand up on the east terrace or cowshed and I barely missed a home game after that. Always felt like losing a part of my childhood when the Leeds road was demolished. I was working at a wool dyers up the road at the side of what was Ricky's bar at the time so I saw the stadium being slowly erased from our lives. Yes it was old, it was decrepid, you had to take a slash against a wall, but it was always home and I feel sad for the generations of fans that never got to see any games from there or stand on the terraces. The highest of highs were always worth the lowest of lows

I see that for many years, no badge was worn on the shirts. Does anybody know if this was the custom of the day, or were the club too tight to pay for a badge?

I see that for many years, no badge was worn on the shirts. Does anybody know if this was the custom of the day, or were the club too tight to pay for a badge? Someone will be along shortly I'm sure. But what that video does do, is show how times were much simpler back then. Within the first 40 years of the club's existence there had been 2 world wars on a scale that nobody (or not many...) on here will have experienced. Leisure options, values etc. were so different, so I'm guessing badges on shirts weren't of much interest to folk. I've not watched the whole thing through, but did the first 10mins and then skipped towards the end. I'll take the time to watch the whole way through though, as it looks like a very poignant record of our club. I'm not a big reader of HTFC history, so it's the first time I'd heard about the players getting changed in the Peacock in the early days. Maybe Justasmithers can share this one with Kevin Nagle, as I'm sure he'd happily grab a drink & spend 40 mins enjoying this one...

I think quite a few clubs didnt always sport the club badge on their shirts during certain decades, some had them and some didnt but i dont know if it was the clubs decision or not, club shirt sales were probably none existent on a large scale until the early 70's anyway, i think the firm Admiral were the pioneers in large scale replica kit production and from then on the club badge adorned most teams shirts.

I remember someone telling me once that they heard the roar of the crowd from 3 miles away, it was a game i was at that night has a 13 yr it was the F A Cup 3rd replay against Stoke and i am sure the crowd was around 42,000, now they cant even hear the crowd on Leeds Road. All new stadiums are totally souless.

Shirts with badges on were hit and miss, some clubs did, some clubs didn't although certainly by the 1980's all clubs shirts carried badges, no matter how rudimentary. Maybe the FL or FA brought in some rule that badges must be on shirts, who knows??
