Excellent report, very comprehensive and glad you liked the stadium, cause talkshite had it as 1 of the worst grounds??!! The pubs you visited and the tea shop are worthy venues, and I concur with your appraisal. Well written and illustrated reports like this deserve greater appreciation.

It definitely wasnt a game for the neutrals. Hard enough to watch in blue or green. Spurs v man utd was a good one for the neutral, toon v city was even better. I dont expect many neutrals are drawn to watch us at the moment.?

A really good read and some good pics to compliment it as well !
Great that they enjoyed Huddersfield - And why not - as it’s one very fine Town indeed 👍
Being Scottish and ma niece being a piper - I enjoyed the bit about the piper at Gasworks street who I’ve heard and donated to as well -
I also will miss The Gasometer as it’s certainly not something you’d see here in The Whisky Isle for sure...
I hope they can make it to Scotland at some time and do Dumbarton FC and The mighty Clachnacuddin as well -
PS - I met one at a Clachnacuddin v Fort William game in Inverness in 2021 - He is : THE FITBA NOMAD @ WORDPRESS.COM
In his interview with me over a beer and a dream or 4 plus more I told him my love for Huddersfield Town and he’s been kind enough to mentio HTAFC twice in his report !
That one was called ‘Convening at Clachnacuddin’ and anyone wanting a wee read would need to scroll back to that heading and dated October 4th 2021 but he’s a good blogger as well and I’d love him to do Huddersfield Town as well and hopefully he will some day in the future ! 😊

Hopefully, we can carry on where he leaves off 👍

Appreciate everyone's kind words but even better for me, was the fact that we were made so welcome in your town.
It's easy to welcome people when you know they have said nice things about your town/club but it means more when it is done before that happens.
Thank you Huddersfield for a great day and good luck for the rest of the campaign, from a Stoke fan groundhopper 👍

Great read. Also good idea about the old steel framework becoming some sort of museum. Unfortunately it’s 1000x more likely to become university housing in this town! Also have to disagree on the sound of bagpipes but glad someone enjoyed them!

A fair question. I'm more interested in discovering new towns, grounds, people and clubs now than following Stoke. I put in many years of that and they ruined my day far too often. Now, I can travel the country and have a great day no matter what the score is at my match.

I’m glad that you and your wife enjoyed your day in the town and at the JSS. I would never consider myself to be a groundhopper but, having not lived local to Huddersfield since going to university in 1973, I’ve got used to going to games all the time as a kind of neutral; mainly league games but several hundred non-league games too (almost all local to the Surrey area). I have a couple of old mates who are true groundhoppers and they both post regularly on the “where did you go” threads on the Non League Matters forum, they go by the names of LeedsPhil and WestBerksPalace. Our eldest grandson has loved football ever since the last World Cup and at his age (6) he really enjoys going to the likes of Leatherhead, Chipstead and Carshalton in the Isthmian Leagues.

Excellent read, they seem like a sound couple. Thanks for posting. UTT Thank you and yes, yes we are! Lovely Couple (and Hopper, I was the one that was sat by the window and came over to talk to you both as I was initially curious about your shirts!). You then came over and directed me to your twitter account. Great write up (I said I would look out for it!) and pleased to hear you enjoyed Huddersfield and found Huddersfield People welcoming. It’s how it should be. I think you said you had been to was it 136 grounds?. Unbelievable. Hopefully see you in Huddersfield again.

I'm glad you managed to find the write up and thanks for giving it a read and leaving feedback. Yeah, it was a rough guess at the amount of grounds visited and I was close. The JSS makes it 139 and counting. Cheers, Ian

What a great read and takes a neutral to makes you realise we actually have a nice town. Interesting to read the gasworks is being pulled down. Not before time it's a major eyesore.

Mrs Hopper agrees with you about the gasworks but I reckon it could be turned into something much more appealing with a paint job, neon lights and being part of a broader museum for the town

Congratulations on the "total picture" - factually accurate, well set-out and with excellent photographs. It's relatively rare nowadays for Huddersfield to get good words said about the town itself. And well done for congratulating all the Plymouth supporters who made the long journey north.

I tend to pick matches about a month at most ahead of time. Train strikes and such make planning any further ahead a recipe for disaster. I tend to pick games at grounds I haven't yet visted although occasionally, we will go back to one. Mrs H tends to be along for the ride, she is a real trooper

I did, many years ago (90's) as an away fan. We had to avoid stones being thrown from behind the away end... and we lost 3-0!
