Must be 20 years since he was playing and this was the reason that was brought up back then when the subject came up. Obviously cant have changed much since! Weird really as so many asian lads play football. The PL and EFL is about as diverse as anything there is in terms of different nationalities, religions and races, even more so now than it was back in Adnan's days. Yet you've got two hugely populated countries like India and Pakistan who have barely produced a player between them, despite also having such huge immigrant populations all around the world. It is odd. Cricket explains part of it too. This, most Asian kids would much rather be the next Virat Kohli than the next David Beckham.

My main memory is of him getting sent off at Doncaster Rovers in the first game at their new stadium on NYD 2007. Town obliged by losing 3-0. Abbott also got sent off. I seem to remember him being a fairly tidy midfielder, showed some promise but never really progressed and his career just meandered about down into non-league. He was fairly small but wasn’t afraid to get stuck in. Did he suffer with injuries? Never player a load of games for any club.

Soccer AM did an interview with the town players before we played Chelsea. Who they are, position, a good thing and a bad thing. Adnan's bad thing about himself was "timing of the tackle".

I think I've been on the pitch at Town more times than Adnan Ahmed.
No, I have no memories of him.

I think I've been on the pitch at Town more times than Adnan Ahmed. No, I have no memories of him. Wow. You're clever. What a needless comment. He played 41 games for us. So if you have been on any form of football pitch at any form of decent level in your lifetime either equalling or bettering that number, congratulations. I bet more people have memories and recollections of Ahmed than they do of you however.

Champers doesn't like this planned interview and must let everyone know. Better knock this heritage program on the head to appease him. Or... Maybe if he can't remember players or has no interest in them he could just keep schtum. Just an idea.

Better than some of the lads that play for us now. Always gave 100% when he wore the town shirt.

Look at our playing squad it’s shite. There’s probably 4 or 5 players with any genuine championship quality. Rest are a mix of league 1/2 standard.

He could whip a corner in better than most I’ve seen at Town.

Come on then, what impact and lasting legacy do you think Adnan Ahmed left during his 41 unmemorable appearances, before spending the rest of his days playing semi pro for some nondescript Lancashire part timers? And whereabouts do you think we should put the statue up? I reckon right in between the Anthony Lloyd and Matty Young ones would be perfect, personally.

Ha I don't remember the Brokeback comparisons, the guys (and girls) around me were all quoting Village People lyrics and that kind of thing. One of them (tall, lanky, bi fella) was going to ask Jon McAliskey if he could borrow his outfit next time he went to that "alternative" pub (Rainbow/Unicorn?) in Wakefield.

Does anyone actually have the young guns calendar? Asking for a friend... Until recently I had ALL the merch I'd bought since I came back to the UK in 93. Had a massive clearout last month but I'll have a look and see if that's one of the few things I kept. Just to help "your friend" of course
