IP think so - when Dooks tweeted skybet they added him at 1/10... they haven't done that with anyone else.

Yeah course but Huddersfield are only going to have so much pulling power aren’t they? You’ve basically just said you’d never be excited or happy with whoever we appointed. No I didn’t I just mean a hotly rated manager is less likely to choose Huddersfield Town out of any team in the championship. The same thing goes for players, if theres a chance between Huddersfield and any team maybe 15 places above us, they’d probably go there.

They didn't actually, he was 7/4 at one point (when I first saw him on there), not sure where he started at. He'll have gone 1/10 based off information coming from this forum I imagine. Not that surprising given Wagner went 1/10 on the basis of some Twitter rumours. The sources this time seem much more reliable.

Think managers look at potential and we're one of only a few with an owner willing and able to invest meaningful money. That alone would put us above most in the championship in terms of attracting a manager. Current league position is a concern , but any manager who isnt confident he would keep this side up from this position isnt worth having anyway.

That's exactly the mindset we need to rid ourselves of, both as a club and a fanbase. To quote Peter Sarstedt '...touched with a burning ambition to shake off their lowly-born tags'. TERRIER SPIRIT / NO LIMITS MkII !! I have never been keen on the Terriers nickname, Little mutts that bite your legs when you are walking away. just being called " The Town " was good enough back in the day. Is that Grimsby Town or Luton Town or another 'The Town'? To be fair, I hadn't appreciated that 'the Terriers' nickname was only adopted in 69/70 but that's who we are and we're fucking lethal if you're a rat. Plenty of game in a terrier. It's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog. I'm not a fan of Yorkshire Terriers mind you (disclaimer - no offence intended to owners of this breed of terrier)

That and timing, right opportunity for the candidate. Ask yourself how Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton etc etc etc have managed to get themselves up the leagues when they’re historically smaller clubs than us?

the underdog mindset feels more natural than the big-time Charlie mindset of the likes of Massive and the Scabs Underdog with the no limits attitude definitely preferable to me compared to the Massive and “should be beating the likes of…” attitude. Agreed. At times we've overdone the "little old Huddersfield" thing though. It's a tough balance to strike. Wagner's approach in the close season after promotion managed it. He said we might not be the biggest dog, but at the same time i remember him saying "we aren't just here to say hello".

Seems too high profile for Town, he is Germany's Steve Cooper. Apparently he turned down the Besiktas job recently if Wikipedia is to be believed.

The announcement of the club's introduction of the manufactured nickname made it clear it was a Yorkshire Terrier. The publicity featured a dog called Skippy (from Honley IIRC). One of the (few) justifications I've seen for the manufactured nickname is that the Yorkshire Terrier breed originated from a show dog called "Huddersfield Ben" The animal on badges etc is a Yorkshire Terrier. That other Terrier breeds are (probably) more acceptable than the Yorkshire Terrier seems irrelevant. We've become saddled with a nickname based on one of the smaller dog breeds that some would argue is a bit rat like and just a bit too "yappy" (other opinions are of course available). The "Once a Terrier always a Terrier" also confuses me. I haven't always been a Terrier - that was only announced in September 1969.

Mentioned elsewhere on here that the "personal reasons" given on wiki were that he was looking after his sick dad after his mum passed away. But don't let that stop you from p***ing on everyone's chips as per usual, eh?

Yorkshire Terriers are nasty, yet wimpish, things. If there had to be a terrier, let it be an Airedale. A neighbour of mine in Huddersfield had an Airedale called - wait for it - Worthington. After Frank, I believe. Airedales are a proper sized dog.

Big gamble imo and let’s be honest the club hasn’t got a good track record of getting it right.
We need to keep JW on as caretaker until end of season.
