Hope all the Championship (or wherever) scouts see what you see and he stays with us next season. 🤪 Not saying he isn't a great player for us, but he has been beaten to the ball numerous times which have cost goals. Defence is a group of players, not one. We need competence right across so they cover each other and talk to make sure they work as a group. Helik is the only one of the regular centre backs with any pace. He has made mistakes, some which have cost us goals, but the whole back line needs to be better as a unit.

Latest odds are out on Skybet for automatic promotion are, Birmingham 11/10 (Top six 1/2), Town 9/4 (5/6), Wrexham 11/4 (Evs), Rotherham 7/2 (6/4), Reading/Lincoln 9/2 (7/4), Charlton/Blackpool 5/1, Stockport 6/1, (2/1).......Still four teams to add from play offs, I think Stockport could surprise 1 or 2 @20/1 for title shot (EW/top3, @5/1)

It's easy to persuade L1 players to play in L2 and below for more money, which is what they've done over the past two years. Less easy to persuade championship/higher level players to drop divisions for money, as things like national teams come into play.

As a Town SC holder for years and living close to both Forest & Notts County grounds I have watched County several times when Town were a long way away. Macauley Langstaff should be our first new signing. He had been prolific for three or four seasons, is 27 and works very hard for the team and most importantly knows where the goal is. Other Championship sides are supposed to be interested. He could cost 1.5 mill. but well worth it. What is clear is that cull is needed of the present squad and replaced by proven good players including strikers, creative midfielder, one of two good wingers and full back. The passing by the team has been shocking this year. If the club do not get this right then the downward projection could well continue.

That opening post aged really, really badly, didn't it? Yes, and I think we should keep this thread going in spirit of the thread title and to highlight how good GnB’s prediction was… 😂 Looking ahead to next season, do we think we’ll be awarded a penalty?

I predict we will have a pen in at least one of our first 5 games.

For those of a certain age, its reminiscent of "Mystic Meg" in the 1990s who once spawned a guess about us beating Bristol Rovers in a playoff final & got the space to make a load of predictions over the next two seasons (none of which iirc came to pass)

Now that duff is in the building,I’m going to presume we will shape up in a 3-5-2(not a 5 at the back as some call it and let’s face it how we have played it this season)The following is what I personally would be looking at squad wise. Keepers Nicholls-I would imagine he goes but if he doesn’t he starts) Maxwell-if Nicholls stays more than adequate backup at that level,if not I think we have other positions to focus on so he’s in Chapman-depending on the above maybe a loan to January or backup to Maxwell Back 3 Brodie Spencer- I feel judging him on what I saw just this season his best qualities are defending,he’s quick, fairly strong and good in the tackle.for me he’s a full back, but definitely unless he shows more not a wing back, that all said I think he could do a good job a rcb Balker- more than adequate centre back for the level but I’d maybe look to stick him left side of it,pace and good on the ball Centrally I’d look to bring in someone who’s more rugged and an out and out centre half, someone who can Marshall the defence and be a leader Tom lees-should his injury not be as bad as rumoured he could stand in across the back 3 Ollie turton-backup at rcb, again qualities lie in his defending and he’s proven at the level Ruffels-very much second backup at lcb where he played and did ok under Warnock If Spencer not fancied at rcb look to bring in another Wing backs 2 new proper athletic and attacking wing backs to come in,would really help make the shape work Ollie turton-backup if needed but going forward not his strength and we may have to play differently if in the side at wing back Ruffels- again backup but think could do adequate job there, maybe chip in with goals like did at Oxford I have heard a couple of times Matty p has a move lined up so I’m going to say he won’t be here Central midfield Iorpenda- promising prospect who could maybe breakthrough, but maybe expect to start season from bench, decent on the ball, can pass(unheard of) and is a presence with his size Ben wiles-struggled all season with lack of fitness due to pre season and carrying niggles, hopefully can get fully fit,if so a very good option for league 1 Past that maybe Kasumu and high stay and play very much supporting roles.could potentially be looking at 60 games with pizza trophy crap.Kasumu may also surprise us but also wouldn’t be surprised if moved on Hogg- would give another year, from the bench though, good guy to have around for culture shift even if has been part of so called bad one Look to bring in someone who can pass and dictate play Look to bring in a defensive mid who’s athletic and can win the ball back, pace be nice. Another would be brilliant but beggars can’t be choosers Strikers Rhys Healey- if can get him fit he should score goals Radulovic- yet to prove himself, will be up for it,if he is could be very useful partner to Healey Simpson- would defo use his pace and strength for something different from the bench On top would look to bring someone else in,preferably with pace to maybe be a different option to partner Healey
Wingers maybe fairly redundant so koroma and jones might be ones to just keep from the bench if change of shape required. All maybe slightly ambitious,or maybe I’m talking crap,or both but that’s just how I see it.I wonder what duff/the club will go for.
