Looking forward to htafcokays reply. It was my 45th wedding anniversary yesterday, was very grumpy for a while, good job Town didn't organise the rest of the day. UTT Edit - htafcokay was quicker than me. Well is there any wonder? It's like some of these people are more fans of Carlos Corberan than they are of Huddersfield Town. Managers and players come and go, and once they've gone, they've gone. He still lives in your head rent free though 😉

Rudoni has massive potential but he needs dropping to the bench. Players sometimes need a kick up the Arse to guide them in the right direction for there own good,he's been hyped up too much in my opinion. That doesn't mean to say he is a shit footballer quite the opposite but sometimes,a reality check is needed. Dropping to the bench for his performances, fair. But not sure it’s because he needs a reality check or a kick up the arse.. If anything, he looks like he’s trying too hard and overthinking things. The attitude and desire is there, just needs to add more composure to his game.

Being a fan of any team, for 60 years in my case, does not mean I am obliged to slavishly and wrongly swallow all the crass decisions and appalling treatment of managers, does it? West Brom outplayed us in the second half, and Corberan out thought Breitenreiter. If you can’t applaud that, that is sad. HTAFC, since the flirtation with the premiership have recruited puppet managers. You reap what you sow.

No-one is saying you should swallow anything the club does, but I don't see anyone bemoaning the departure of Mark Robins, who has gone on to better things after leaving and also done a very good job at Coventry, including play-offs last season and a shout with play-offs this season. Why did Carlos Corberan resign after the Fulham match in February 2022?

God, you are a petulant individual. Read my previous posts. He was smart enough to see he would get no backing. He was also professional enough to see the season out very successfully. The club should have enhanced his contract, his level of managerial responsibility and retained his services. Sadly, and the consequences still reverberate to this day, the overpaid and under qualified / committed suits held the power, and misused and abused it. Exactly the same with Sean Jarvis.

Credit to Corberan - he changed his tactics and that won them the game. Whatever your view he's a tactical genius, in the play offs we finished strongly against Luton (only one winner in that game even before Rhodes scored the decider). In the final had we got a penalty I think we'd have won as Forest (like Luton) looked out of ideas. Corberan adjusts his plan and is a very talented tactician (and he had better players yesterday, i.e. John Swift on the bench!)
One to quickly forget. If sides take 4 out of their 5 chances every game and we miss 2 or 3 easy chances ever game we're in trouble. But that won't happen
Keep the faith

Or, he had no bottle and was well-known for chucking the towel in. He'd already resigned at least once, if the club had "backed him" as you say, what's to say he wasn't going to resign yet again into the new season? Go to your boss and keep resigning every few months and see what happens. He'll eventually tell you to piss off.

I’ll never agree with your assessment. Asking hypothetical, what if questions, in any context is pointless. Tip for the day: In real life jobs, you get a better job, then resign.

Yes, I’m happy to disagree. But, Corberan is not irrelevant. His demise is a symptom of the malaise which continues to afflict the club. For me, Breitenreiter is a good choice, but he should not be judged on a dozen games at the back end of an indifferent season, with no chance of enhancing the squad or time to significantly change anything. We shall see, but I would not be at alll surprised if the suits turn on him if we are relegated.

We were one nil up at half time simply down to our intensity and work rate. It was clear straight after half time that some of it was gone and WBA were pushing on higher with more players and having a significantly easier passage to get to our ĺast third. I wanted a couple of subs at half time because I know we cant keep that intensity because two or 3 simply cant do it. It might be a brave move when 1 up and in truth an opposition who havent mounted a serious attack in 45 mins but the manager should know his players and make changes because of that, not the score or how its gone up to half time.. Once we stepped off and they could get the ball to half way and beyond without too much trouble we were in danger. The goals bar the 3rd werent great and had a decision and some fortune but 4 corners in as many minutes told what was coming. I dont know if Balker could have come on for Lees or Matos for Hogg, maybe Koroma on for Burzog etc but intensity got us to half time, perspiration not inspiration was key. You dont have to play 90 minutes when you have 5 subs. You can be winning and doing ok and make subs.. I would go as far as to say, I can't think of one manager in the top 4 divisions who would have made changes at HT on the back of that 1st half performance.!? Nor would I expect them to! With our squad they would likely have all lost the second half badly then. Spencer wasnt right, Headley was struggling and Hogg and Lees were about to drop off, which they did. Corberan changed his teams positions around at least twice in the first half, we coped well. Other than quitting with the playing out from the back which stopped late in the first half and began again once they had the lead, our 'tactics' altered the game in the second half, in their favour. The 'fine line' of 4 goals in the blink of an eye was down to us, not them.

We were beaten by a better quality squad, that are having a much better season than us, and by a manager who has a huge amount of experience at Championship level, vs the one who is still at the bottom of the ladder in this league both in terms of his personal experience and the tools at his disposal.
4-1 seems a flattering result, but losing to West Brom is about as shocking and surprising as the sun coming up every morning.
We move on.

Better side first half without it been free flowing.Probs warranted another goal but not clinical enough. They changed it tactically second half and basically looked to turn and go in behind our slow central back line instead of playing into feet and in front of the defence as first half. That 20 or so minute spell was ridiculous.First one marginally offside but should still defend it better, second one scrappy from corner, again maybe should defend better and be better switched on,that said sometimes it just drops their way, third one he’s not scoring that the next 9 times out of ten attempts, last one was coming as once went to a 4 Pearson got given the run around. We still should go 2–1 up though at 1-1 and maybe the game goes a different way. After their second we looked a bit shell shocked, rudoni has that chance also and doesn’t take it. Needs putting to bed, beat Rotherham no matter what the performance is like and then nearly two weeks without a game which looks needed as there’s a good handful who look leggy or just not as sharp.Balker hopefully coming back could make a difference with his pace and let’s see if Healey can be as clinical as his record suggests when he gets his chance. Long way to go yet.

Realised I quoted the wrong post with my earlier reply to impact. This was the one I meant to quote with this reply: What is it with Town fans? Wagner and Corberan oversaw by far our most successful seasons since the early 70s, yet they get little credit from some fans. Yet other managers, who achieved far less, are viewed far more favourably. I genuinely can't my head around it. I don't view anyone more favourably than Wagner. Then Warnock. If Carlos had been upfront, said he wanted to move on and waited for us to get compensation, I'd have had a lot more respect for him. Instead he waited until training started, resigned saying he had nothing lined up then rocked up at the dodgy owner of the team who'd beaten us in the play-off final. We got fuck all for it. The whole thing stunk. I also don't think anything I said about why he left isn't true. We spent more that summer. He either sued it as an excuse or had a seriously warped view of what we as a clue do in the transfer market. We had a 1 off year that wouldn't be repeated. We missed out on Carlton Morris to Luton having done the same with Adebayo earlier in his tenure. Losing out on a player to a team we'd just beaten in the play-offs must be damn frustrating, especially in an area (striker) we haven't properly invested in years. When the messages coming out from the club were all about having another go at promotion etc then I can kinda understand why Carlos would feel a bit miffed that we're getting beat to our transfer targets by clubs who we'd just finished ahead of. Then throw in losing your three top players and replacing two of them with raw talent from League Two and League One (Rudoni and Kasumu) and he's been given a monumental task. Granted, Helik was a top buy to help fill the void of Colwill, but other than that I don't think we invested in any Championship experienced player, did we? As a result the squad was weaker than the one we took to Wembley and yet we expected him to stay and improve our position? We might have spent a bit of money but no way did we back the manager for another stab at promotion when we were in a pretty decent position to do so.

I still can't believe Burgzorg didn't do his favourite party trick with his chance to retake the lead. Just roll the ball under your foot, round the keeper and score. For a player that seems obsessed with taking everyone on he really blew the biggest of opportunities.

People commenting on an ex manager that is relevant to our game yesterday, our division is valid.

It does show Town can put a performance together, we did it for a while at Southampton, we did it for a while against WBA...our problem is we cannot sustain it for a full game. So what's the problem ?
Opposing managers suss out what we're doing and change tactics..change formation...bring on quality subs. AB must have realised WBA would change things around, as JW must have thought at Southampton. WBA didn't make any subs until it was 1-1, and were 4-1 up before they brought on the other 3 more subs..so it was tactics.
Southampton had brought on all 5 subs while 2-3 down and with 11 minutes to go...and then scored 3 times...We made 5 subs, two at 3-2, the other 3 when we were losing 3-4...
We know our pool of players is weak, so that doesn't help but are we preparing ourselves properly, do we have a set of tactics ready for when we are in this position ? At half time against WBA it was pretty obvious we'd face something different in the 2nd half, so how did we intend to react to that ? We used just 4 subs, two at 1-2, the other 2 at when the game has gone at 1-4...Reactive subs when we're losing the game..They scored their 3rd within a minute of the first 2 subs coming on..
So in both games we're making subs only when we're losing, not while we're winning..well out of the 9 subs during these 2 games 7 of the subs came on after we'd lost our lead...reactive.
I don't know how the managers think.and maybe all managers use subs to react so I'm being unfair suggesting in these 2 games we were slow to respond..also I guess if you have players on the bench that can 'do a job' to turn the game round then it helps. It just doen't sit with me that against WBA we were 1-2 before we sub with 2 players, then 1-4 before we sub again..it was clear from minute 46 what was happening..
I'm now left with a slightly uncomfortable feeling about AB, probably unjustified, that he's just another of the same mould of managers, has a coaching manual and follows the norm...I'm now hoping we totally thrash Rotherham 5-0 to restore our goal difference then in the 2 week break he can resolve some of our issues...for the run in.

We were not 'inspired' in the first half, the work rate that was required to make WBA look so poor was high. We didnt keep the ball for longer periods, we won it back or interupted their play more often. We worked much harder than them and that comes at a cost to players of a certain age or those who have been out with injuries etc. We all knew WBA would have a period of the game, we could see directly after half time the swing in the game and the room they were getting in our half. That was the warning. Our stepping onto them waned and they got corners from one pass, one short run etc.. Time to up the pressing and closing was then and subs were needed then.

The squad is awful, anyone who is saying it’s a mid-table team is off their head. We can stay up, I’m sure of it. Huge clearout in the Summer. Love Pearson and the likes but we need to improve now. Breitenreiter will know what needs to be done. Exactly. Whichever division we need a big clearout. Too many of these lads put in the exact same performance against Coventry last year. The culture needs to change. Pearson has been great at times but his defending for the 4th was horrendous. If we stay up and we really want to progress next season then Lees, Pearson, Hogg, Ward for sure should not be starting for us. Nicholls, Headley, Helik, Balker, Spencer is a good starting point defensively. Additions needed. We look really short in midfield, that would need strengthening preferably with some players who can actually pass and move. I would keep Rudoni and Kasumu. I would also keep Thomas and sign Burgzorg. I would be looking to let Ruffles, Turton, Hudlin etc leave.

Again I wonder why, Oh yes it's because he'd been sacked by Olympiacos and didn't have a job. He'll be off as soon as he perceives something better comes up. Forest getting relegated and the fat Greek giving him another chance with them then going all the way to L2 would be my ideal scenario.

He is good yes, however it wasn’t rocket science stuff yesterday. They basically changed from trying to go into strikers feet and runners off him for basically 3/4 direct runners and turning our centre halves at every opportunity.

He performed fantastically well for us while LN was injured & I think Lee is suffering some confidence issues when you look at some of the recent games in the round. As you say, the third goal, not much he could have done with that one, but he seems shakier than he has been for some time. We also need to work out how to get Balker and Helik in the same starting lineup, as we do Burgzorg, Koroma and Thomas. Midfield needs to have some composure as well. Individually, I think we have some talented players, but occasionally they look like strangers on the pitch. Still think we’ll be OK, but sadly I think it will be a lot closer than it was last season, even if we did only secure our safety in the penultimate game. I suspect the permutations going into the final 2 games this time around, will be significantly more.
