now that is a strange one, he won the league 1 title in his last season in the division. I would have thought he would be the ideal guy to bring them back.

In their entire 99 year history, they've only got promoted to this level ONCE without Ben Wiles in their squad. Some people just fit at certain clubs!

Don't know who will be in charge on Saturday, possibly the academy manager?.....Lets hope he's as good as ours was.

Previously they've been promoted to the second tier in 1951, 1981, 2001, 2014. With Wiles, 2018 (he didn't actually play a league game), 2020, and 2022. Much as I think Wiles does have what it takes to succeed with us but has been poor so far, I can't let him have credit for Rotherham's recent golden run of promotions. Also, five promotions to this level in just seven third tier seasons kind of puts the lie to the idea that it's tough to get out of that division. Get it right, and get up. Strange one on the sacking. I have seen his comments after games lately though, and they were very defeatist. 'We can't hope to compete, I think we did well with what we have' after managing 4 shots to the opposition's 18-25. I just wonder if that's not gone down well with the heirachy at Rotherham. Also, sack him now, get the new man in for pre-season. It looks like they never planned on keeping him for League One.

Gragh, hoisted by my own petard - cursed by reading "Division 2" as being a lower division and not the actual 2nd! So 3 of their 4 promotions to this level in the last 20 years happened with Wiles in the squad!

Got to be Warnock till the end of the season. Returning to one of his former clubs in a hopeless position, with Birmingham at home his first game. Feel like I’ve seen this before somewhere. Come on Neil, you know it makes sense! Keep us up one last time.

Steve Evans going back there. His first game is Saturday. Might see them put a bit more of a shift in now

Say what you like about Steve Evans but he always gets 100% out of his teams. It makes the game a lot more difficult for Birmingham on Saturday.

Evans turned it down earlier this season as well.
Unfashionable manager but he does get results. Hopefully he has them fired up and does us a massive favour.

Congratulations to Rotherham on reacting positively to their circumstances and clearly having a plan, in my opinion. It means Evans will have good time to prepare for summer business and for next season.
Don’t be surprised to see Rotherham do well next season. Presumably Evans will have managed Ben Wiles previously, so a possible return for him too?
In the immediate short term I see this as nothing but excellent news for Town, given Rotherham have to play Birmingham.

And a deeply, deeply unpleasant man. We've had some deeply unpleasant men here too. I don't doubt that. But Evans is provably something on another level. A genuinely nasty piece of work from Boston onwards. After being convicted of fraud he should never have been allowed back into football. Then there's the indecent exposure issue. Not a man welcome at Bradford City for that reason.

Could just be the man to help save Town if they nobble Brum this weekend......Send a decent malt for SE to NYS with a note 'case to follow', from all at HTFC.

Let’s hope that Birmingham set up to get a point, like we did, before Thomas was sent off. Somehow I think they may see this as a winnable game and will attack.

Evans going back to the Millers has really given me some optimism that they get a result against Brum. Then I remember we still have to win 2 games minimum.

We have won 9 out of 43 which is around 20% and we now really need to win 2 out of 3 which is around 66%. Big increase. However the Ipswich game could well be the most interesting as by that time they may have been auto promoted, they can get auto promoted on that day, they have failed in their auto chase and preparing for the play offs! What we need to do is win Saturday.

Just two draws could keep us up, mathematically. Incredibly unlikely that 2 draws keeps us up due to the fact we play Birmingham. Would require us drawing with Birmingham and a huge GD swing. Maybe if Brum lose 10-0 to Rotherham we could stay up with 2 draws

You'd think the club staff would be able to put him on some sort of diet! Can't be healthy being that big in any line of work let alone football management!

Can't be healthy being that big in any line of work let alone football management! They reckon when he was at Leeds, he was on the sniff with Cellino as he lost loads of weight when he was there, and then piled it all back on again afterwards.

And he's bringing ex-Town striker Paul Raynor to Rovrum with him.
Edited for bloody autocorrect.
