This! The Shield wants binning as well. All these pics of the team badges in league one next season and I have to squint to make ours out. Only if you know your club badges do you know whose is whose badge a lot of the time, many are pretty similar shied/heraldry/coat of arms, its often only the small details that distinguish them. Which is why the introduction of the terrier surely? - most of the easily identified clubs have a straight forward symbol. Arsenal's canon, Spurs' cockerel, Brighton's seagull, Wolverhampton's wolf head, Derby's ram, Norwich's canary, Forest's tree etc. It's debatable whether the version chosen is the best one it could have been but I understand the rationale for going down this route. I personally like it and have a couple of polo shirts with it, showing discreet support for my club* without the complication of the shield or the in your face sponsor's name on replica shirts. *or possibly trying to be incognito given the season we've just been through

Personally, I think it’s plain awful. The previous discreet Terrier only symbol was absolutely fine and much better and achieved the discrete look you mention just fine on polo tops, hats and other merch. They should have used that as the Terrier only logo on the shirts when they went with the falling apart stick on badge and the awful new Terrier. I simply will not buy anything with that God awful turbo dog on it and know many others who are the same. The club shot themselves in the foot by enforcing it and not doing any form of consolation. The club made reference to ‘the eyes’ being suspect on the proper Terrier, granted they looked silly on the 80s images, but the most recent iteration they got rid of was absolutely fine and should be reinstated immediately! I’m certain they would sell a hell of a lot more merchandise with the proper Terrier on it, probably enough from just me alone!

I much prefer the new Terrier logo and think the old one looks daft. Life would be boring if we all thought and acted the same as one another 🤷♂️

I much prefer the old badge compared to the new Terrier logo. When I think of Huddersfield Town, when I think of my club, I definately associate the badge more than the Terrier logo.
Perhaps that's a time thing, I've known the badge ALOT longer, possibly the terriers logo will grow on me over time - but currently, I much prefer the badge.

Been wanting Town to update the badge for about 25 years now, the current version introduced by Hoyle in 2019 is absolutely s**te!
In terms of the shield, well it just isn't necessary. I'm guessing it's main benefit is that it's easier and cheaper to put onto the shirts and clothing, so, I'd say why not just use it for that then? All other communications, such as online and media, could quite easily use a version without the shield on. Simple, and the best of both worlds for the club.
Even introducing a new logo doesn't mean you have to completely kill off the old one. You'd still own that image and the club can do a retro line in the club shop etc, although I'd still want to tidy it up and make it look decent.
From meetings with the club I know Nagle was very cautious about taking over and immediately changing things like the badge, but hopefully it's something that is on his agenda. PLEASE KEVIN, I'LL DO IT FOR FREE!

Even on the official site link above the 1970s version looks better than the current one! How embarrassing is that?

Should get a new modern . Something for the digital age, that brings our heritage with it. I like the dog, but think they ruined the original badge with it. Should just have gone for something totally new There’s no need, HalifaxTerrier remastered the and put it on here. It’s class and the club should have rung him up immediately and sent him a briefcase of money. Instead we had a 17 year old poke about with it on Microsoft paint. There’s no need for a debate or discussion on the matter, just ring Johnny up, Kevin. Now. Here for anyone interested

My understanding is that the club don't want to tamper with anything in the short-term (~3 years) because it would look like new American owners coming in all guns blazing. A fair theory. But tidying up the standard badge (i.e. Johnny's design above) would avoid any overhauls but make us look far smarter and sleeker. No brainer. Justasmithers Get Kev on the blower.

Agreed and without being disrespectful of Halifax terriers obvious talent. There will be better equipped agencies out there who can come up with something more modern and to a better standard than this. IMO of course, design is very subjective

It would be better if professionals decided which one, maybe involve people like Halifax terrier and Peter O'Toole who have the skillset and the perspective of the fans.

Not questioning his skillset and maybe the club can get him involved but there are always better designers our there and they are like footballers usually the highest paid. I would like to see fans like halifax involved but not here's my effort on the forum and it becomes the club badge

As long as it’s got Castle Hill and the white rose on, the flowery stuff, the three stars and terrier can fuck off for me. Not a big dog fan, especially not small yapping ones! The only time I was slightly onboard was when Wagner talked about “Terrier spirit”, it not being the size of the dog but the fight in it. But that soon gave way to “ooh, we’re just a shitty little dog, we can’t compete with these big pedigree Rottweilers!” The badge is currently a right mess and needs cleaning up at the very least.

HalifaxTerrier - Would you mind sharing a larger version of the one in your avatar? The aspect ratio looks spot on (to my eyes, at least).

Town fans/English people love tradition (on the whole). The isn’t really traditional though. If I remember correctly, it was a design competition won by a student (not from the area) at the Poly in the 70s! If we’re celebrating the centenary and want to be traditional, we should get the town’s and white rose.

The design that is shown above from 2021 was merely a suggestion to update the current logo, so think of it more as a brand refresh rather than a 'new' logo. For me, this is something I'd do immediately, take it back to be more in line with the 1970's original version but just update it to todays standards. The last design I did and spoke to the club about was this one: So nothing new, just tidying up the design and making it more clear.

If we're going for something new, then my ideal would be something along these lines: Though I know these aren't always to everyones taste, but to me it just works better.

A minor point and I’m probably wrong, but shouldn’t the ring on the right be blue rather than white and the bottom of the curtain looking thingy white instead of blue?

Did you try the dog at the bottom and castle hill in the middle? The dog is too prominent to my eyes, I’d try it smaller. Sure you probably already have. I’d also make the font the same size, rather than smaller at the bottom. It’s nice and clean though. I have 15 years of graphic design experience so know how annoying it is when people pick apart considered design btw!

I suspect HalifaxTerrier might have slightly darkened the blue in his latest version so apologies if this isn't accurate.
