With the players he had the play offs should have been the absolute minimum requirement
Being nominated for manager of the year while Corberan wasn't makes you wonder what the criteria was.

2 threads? Same opening with same errors. Ban!!!!!! To avoid the galactic confusion created by prepare in starting two threads with the same identical post I have deleted the thread with the fewest responses. Before anyone moans about me abusing my powers, you cannot merge threads that have identical posts. There had to be a winner and a loser, and this is the winner. Can you fix the typo in the thread title too?! It's irritating me way more than it should for some reason! It's one S FFS!

I'm sure I remember you and a few others denigrating Wagner's achievements, saying he was yesterday's man and you'd no way want him managing town again. I may have been mistaken though so apologies if so. IIRC you blame Carlos for jumping ship. Looking like he made the right decision currently, I didn't blame him personally, all things considered. Hopefully we'll get to see one of them in the PL next season.

I said he was yesterday's man about six months ago, coincidentally around the time I was watching Norwich on Sky and their fans were singing "We Want Wagner Out". Since then, the turnaround has been fantastic and he's done really well. Certainly proved me wrong. Never have I said that the greatest Town manager in my lifetime is "shit". I also never blamed Corberan for jumping ship, I was one of a select few that was happy to see the back of the c**t. Always said he'd done a good job in his second season, but made no secret of the fact that I couldn't bear the man. Completely different to saying, he's "shit". I do take exception to people who try and say he's one of our greatest ever managers, as that is just false, but that doesn't equate to me saying he's shit. Hopefully Wagner gets Norwich up.

Seems odd. They do have a good squad, but from outside looks harsh
Forget him coming here, comment from hull fan - he’d not last 6 games here before fans calling for his head, messing around at back…
“ Unpopular opinion alert... Though I don't agree with the sacking as he's done a decent job, he is a one trick pony and it's sometimes infuriating. Myself and others know we had a good enough squad to really challenge and yet we always fell short. We can't always do this SLOW build up from the back. We haven't been direct at all and some games you need to be, Liam didn't give us a direct option. We'd often be in a really good attacking position and end up back at Allsop somehow... He didn't adapt on the fly as needed. He chose a game plan and stuck to it even when it really wasn't working. So, yeah I'd have kept him and hoped for better but there are certainly better managers out there so fingers crossed we get a good one. No good having 70% possession and only having 2 shots.”

If you had to rank the managers we have had this century, where would Corberan be in your opinion? Below all the ones that have had success for a start. So that's at least three of them, as Peter Jackson, Simon Grayson and David Wagner have all achieved promotion in the 21st century. I think his exploits in his second season are similar to the exploits of Lou Macari in his second season, both worked against the odds and got a side to the play-offs when they probably had no right to do it on paper. But as Macari is Scottish and not Spanish, that suggestion will be laughed at. In our history, there have been 10 managers who have either won trophies or promotion. Corberan certainly ranks below all of them as in my opinion, those at the top should be the ones that have won something. I'd even argue he is below the two managers that led us to FA Cup finals and runners-up in the First Division.

Seemed to be play off (promotion) or bust? Mind you not sure why he got a new contract then . The local Hull reporter asked the owner, at the beginning of the season, what were the expectations? He said top ten. However, spent more money in January so maybe playoffs became the minimum.

Maybe the owner thought this was their best chance.

If the ‘Rebecca Walsh’ game is anything to go by, maybe the owner doesn’t want to watch cautious shithouse football when he’s spent £10s of millions in a couple of years.

Hull were a disgrace in that 1st half against us. I know that you set up differently when playing away but they crossed the line in that game.
