Isn't he just a other Darren Moore? Probably the best we could have got given our relegation but we'll see. In what sense do you mean another Darren Moore? Duff likes a high pressing 352, and Darren Moore prefers a defensive 532. Formations have similarities but they're not identical. In terms of profile? Yeah, probably. I think Duff's reputation now is similar to what Moore's was then in terms of stature within the game. Moore's reputation has probably fallen further than Duff's has in the last 12 months though. I'm undecided on this. Mostly underwhelmed if I'm honest. Excitement level 4/10. There are potential reasons for optimism, and I'm pleased that we've got someone in early, but I can't help but think we've missed out on a few more promising opportunities. For the reasons you state, same profile as Moore. As you say, it's been done early so decisions on the squad can be made in and out. Potential better suitors were probably scared off by the number of managers we've had.

I’m loving the massive and clear positive skew here - positivity at last!!! I think - above all - town fans are optimistic for a new dawn at the club, one where the bar is raised high on attitude and quality. No more Sorba Thomas, no more Burgzorgs. Players we can be proud of.

What sort of coach is he...does he shout, get angry and bollock the players sort of thing, ? I want someone who screams and shouts from the dugout.. He sites Sean Dyche as a major influence from his time at Burnley and in articles I’ve read about him he talks about discipline and commitment.

I’d defo drink that. Unless he turns out to be shit. They have barrels and barrels of Moore Light they can’t shift. What if he's shit, but the beer is lovely? Still wouldn’t drink it

More importantly, and probably worth a poll.... What does he wear on the touchline? What do we want? John Gregory tracky bottoms with socks pulled over up to knee, training top Carlo ancelloti suited and booted Klopp full club branded training gear and coat Arteta suit trousers and smart jumper over the shirt ?? Carlo for me More importantly what chant do we use for him? I vote for his surname chanted repeatedly to the Simpson's theme tune ie- Duuuff Duuuff Duuff Da Duff Duff Duff Da Duff Duff Duff Duff, Duff Duff Duff Duff,Du Du Da Duff!!I thought that was the theme tune to Eastenders

He’s got a terrific record as a player and a manager. The guy is a winner. Won 3 promotions, 2 for Burnley, 24 north of Ireland caps & then he’s had a great career at the lowe levels as a manager with multiple successes. For me this is exactly the sort of appointment to get the best out of our squad. With further backing I now strongly back us to turn things around and be right in contention for promotion.

Really positive appointment this. Somehow I think Mr Duff will sort out the problems in the dressing room and get the best out of what's left. Glad I renewed my ticket anyway and I now predict Town will finish in the top one with over a century of goals scored. However, we will still not get a penalty at home all season. Duff's view of our players might be different to ABs..he might give them a clean slate and want to make his own assessment and see if he can get a tune out of them ? Those that want to stay that is...

The similar way so many teams play now suggests coaches are rolling off the production line in there hundreds..all with the same methods and ideas...like robots. It's wearisome tbh so I'm hoping Duff is a bit different.

Happy with this. For League One it's a rock-solid appointment, on paper at least.

Uninspiring but solid, probably what we need to be honest. Biggest concern for me is that he gives this squad a clean slate and we go into the season with largely the same players minus the likes of Helik, Thomas and Rudoni.
I think there’s every chance we will struggle 1st half of the season whilst Duff realises the likes of Ward, Kasumu, Wiles, Koroma, Ruffles, Headley, Jackson are absolute guff.

It’s not about nambi pambying players but you do need to work with them to get the best out of them. AB was totally the wrong appointment, as was Moore. 3rd attempt looks and feels more like the right fit to me.

Moore will be managing in League Two for the first time next season having been involved in two relegations in 2023-4. Duff started his managerial career in League Two and took Cheltenham up as Champions. He hasn't managed as low as League Two since. I think Duff is an outstanding appointment. Suffice to say I will be very interested in Huddersfield Town next season.

Reality check required.......we the fans didn't deserve this seasons relegation but we are where we are which is now a Championship 1 club so lets address accordingly which IMO we have finally appointed a manager that suits our situation but is also highly capable of taking us a lot lot further.
Michael Duff had a quality playing career making the best of what he had and rose up from the lower leagues right up to the top and in to the premier league and not just for a short while he stayed there . He was a leader during his playing days , impressed a very fine manager in Sean Dyce to trust him with roles very seldom offered to players ( especially when your a premier league team)and then has cut his own teeth when he has set out as a manager ........there are not many with a better managerial start than our new mgr.
Two close friends , one a Cheltenham season ticket holder and the other a Barnsley season ticket holder can not speak highly enough about our new mgr , my Cheltenham pal telling me twitter (X) was full of statements of what a great appointment this is for Huddersfield and indeed for Duff and all wishing him well , my Barnsley pal very similar .
From everything I know he is extremely professional , very very likeable and sets the highest standards that good people follow and has connected quite magnificently with fans from Cheltenham and Barnsley alike ............forget the Swanea stint , whilst IMO Duff is a perfect fit for us it didn't suit either party for him to be with Swansea ..........Swansea play a very (IMO) boring style of football , no way could I enjoy watching my team make 40 passes whilst still not getting any further forward .....Duff plays a more pragmatic style getting the ball forward quicker with wingbacks and strikers being involved more than the centre backs ......this will do for me.
I am very excited by this appointment , my heart would have sank if "TEFLON blame everyone else Breitenreiter) was taking us in to the new season and I am very excited by Michael Duff being our new manager ............the reset has begun .
UP THE TOWN.
