Hardly of major importance but quite liked the castle hill logo on Duff’s shirt. Got me thinking that as an emblem it’s more “Huddersfield” than the terrier (especially the robot one), and if we ever had to ditch the coat of arms (I don’t think we should but we’ll inevitably follow fashion) I think the castle hill emblem would be a good choice. It’s simple, recognisable and unique to Huddersfield. It’s strong, resolute and has all the connotations of a castle! If we want to move away from an “underdog” identity, this might be a good statement. It would be a new branding direction for a new era, but also with continuity from the old.
Thoughts?

Funnily enough, it was the first thing I noticed on Breitenreiter's announcement graphic. Great as a symbol of the town, probably works better in graphics than the train station. Good choice IMO.

Castle Hill, possibly the capital of the Celtic Brigantia kingdom which stretched from central Roman occupied Brittania up the North West. The Brigantine queen was Cartemandua who was allowed to keep her kingdom and autonomy because she cooperated with Rome.

Love it. I’m not from the town but my dad is born and bred in moldgreen. Every time I see castle hill I know I’m in Huddersfield and it feels homely. I’ve bought the jumper and tee shirts they produced this season and as soon as I saw Duff in the polo I bought one. My dads ashes are now scattered in and around the vicinity of castle Hill dancing the stadium and town so it holds a significant position in my life. I think what I’m trying to say is I like it 🤣

I said the same somewhere (Terrier logo thread). 👍🏼

Arsenal have gone with a cannon on next year’s shirt rather than the . I would be against doing that with a dog or castle for a season.

There’s a lot of misconceptions around crests: that they are somehow permanent and rooted in tradition and therefore sacrosanct, when in actual fact they have constantly been changing and some of the newer ones are closer to the original. This is a good video on the subject:

So long as we are ‘terriers’ we will be forever associated with ‘small’ ‘underdog’ type stuff

So long as we are ‘terriers’ we will be forever associated with ‘small’ ‘underdog’ type stuff I thinkn of them as fiesty, tenacious and full of energy with a painful bite. Which I'm all for our team following those principles.

Actually, as someone who hasn't lived in Huddersfield for numerous years, I tend to agree. It's synonymous with Huddersfield, whatever you call it. Always visible from the Town, and all the villages round about. I'd happily change our badge to the hexagonal shape in the middle of the current one, i.e. the yellow and black with the three stars and the tower in white in the centre. It's simple clear, with only three problems. 1. Some people for some unknown reason, dislike the three stars. 2. It's a bit Wolves like, but the tower negates that. 3. O.K. We'll need a new identity nickname for some, though I've always been happy with the simple "the town". Yes I know there are others, but non more famous due to that triple title win. ......PS. I'm on the phone to Nagle as you read...not.

I've only once been bitten by a dog and that was a Yorkshire Terrier. I'd got out of the car and this thing was eyeing me up so I out stared it and it backed off. Thinking I was safe I turned round started walking and suddenly felt intense pain at the bottom of my leg. Quickly turned round and the little sod was running down the road, laughing (in a dog way) its little head off! Never underestimate the smallest breed in the terrier class.

The Terriers is a shite nickname and always has been.
Wouldn't be bothered if we never heard the term again.

I know a lot of people hated it at the time, but I always wished we had stuck with the updated badge the club used in the early 2000s. It could have been tweaked slightly to make it better, rather than ditching it completely. I know people love the traditional, but at some point the club needs to move forward. And I am not suggesting we use that rubbish dog logo from the Premier League years. For the record, I hate it.

It was such a desperate but clearly rushed attempt to fit in with the bigger, modern football clubs. No harm in trying to create an icon as many clubs have, but like the badge re-design a year later, it was so poorly done. Need to ditch Fantastic Media.

I think our club is one of the best around and if anything, it’s the shield around it that needs removing!

Yep love the roundal and love the Victoria Tower icon. Hate the current badge which is a PH designed monstrosity. Just shows it’s all subjective as I can’t begin to understand why anyone likes the current one.
