Transfer News / Rumours - where do you want them?

Isn’t it time any transfer news was on the main board rather than several clicks/taps away? Surely it’s talk of the town so why separate? Maybe just me but I find it a massive pita especially on a mobile device.

Makes no odds to me personally where the board sits but what is for sure is that there’ll be a fairly even split of folk wanting it moved and the rest not giving a brass monkeys.

Problem with that is it usually gets taken up by slapper etc having their usual arguments on the politics board.

There's usually a huge majority of posters wanting the transfer board to be repositioned back on the main board tbf. The wish of this majority is never actioned though

I'd put the main Transfer Rumours thread pinned at the top of the main board, then individual player threads (which get very tedious) in the sub-board.

In the time since the initial unwanted change, all previous votes have had the same very one sided result, yet nothing has reverted back to how it should be. Here's hoping.

In fairness to the current Admins, the change was made before our time.

Genuinely, whatever the majority wants then we can review. It kinda makes sense in the regular season to have the board separate, but during the windows to have the transfer thread pinned on the main board.

Let’s see how this rolls on and see where we end up.

Having already moved it to become a sub-board at the top of this page, it works well.

I did think otherwise earlier, but been trying it out this morning and it works well.

I think we need a sub-board for other team threads like Southampton, L**ds, Warnock, they’re no longer anything to do with Town.

The playoff between Leeds and Southampton can go under "Today's Games". Why not?

The main board is surely anything to do with football, and not just to do with Town.

The main board is called talk of the town although I agree today's games belongs on there because if it's on a sub board it becomes hard to find and not used as much as it should be ... just like the transfers one

I'd just have it all on here and let the software do it's thing. Keeps the threads nice and fresh. The threads are just conversation, not reference material, if they slip down the page it's because they've become stale. Pin the important ones.

I only ever use DATM on my iPhone and don’t have any problems navigating to whatever thread I want to look at. I’d leave the forum as it is, except I’d archive and lock the Buxton Lounge as it’s one poster talking to himself (mostly).

I think having Transfer Rumours as a sub-forum to TOTT works well as it is. Transfer news and gossip is arguably the most interesting topic (IMO) and could potentially swamp TOTT if it was on there, so I’d leave it alone.

Personally I'd like to see

-> Talk of the Town (discussions about Huddersfield ONLY - Can include a 'todays games' thread about the division that Town are in)
-> Transfers and Rumours (I guess, as is)
-> Any Other Football (to have football related threads that aren't specifically related to Town)

Each to their own, everyone has their own preference. I don't envy the admins here, because you can't please everyone. You can't please half of the users half as well as you should like, and you please less than half of them half as well as they deserve - 10 points for anyone who gets that.

OK. Let’s run a test, and see how things go. I’ve locked this poll, and as I suggested the whole League One transfer thread has been renamed the ‘Summer 2024 Transfer Window’ thread and pinned to the top of the main board. You can still see it on the most recent threads ticker.

Once we hit the end of the window I will move it back to the sub-board for re-reading at will.

Yep, we can’t please everyone but I think it’s fair we give it a try for those that have requested it.
