Tennis just isn't a good watch for me, just backwards and forwards with silly noises for hours. Only gets interesting when there's a character like McEnroe involved, or that mental Aussie guy from a few years ago. When it's being played "properly" it's catatonically dull.
I'd rather watch a five-day Test Match with commentary by Darren Moore.

I used to watch some Wimbledon in days gone by. Not watched even a game this year round. Not many are mentioning the way the All England Club are trying to ride roughshod over planning laws to suit their own aim. I refer to the fact they wan to build on a park across the road that was left as a legacy to remain a park for the benefit of local people. Seems not to worry AELTC as the brown envelopes seem to have done their work. ' Planning officers had advised the proposals would result in "physical harm" to Metropolitan Open Land, but concluded "very special circumstances" meant "substantial public benefits would clearly outweigh [the] harm".' Currently Wansworth council spiked their plans by voting against the expansion . Now in the hands of London Mayor. Money talks again…

No denying his brilliance though at 37!

One good thing about Wimbledon?
It's over and forgotten about in a fortnight.
Also, on a slight tangent, how the fuck has tennis acquired the status of being reported on the radio (sports) news during each bulletin? I can just about fathom them telling us when all the British also-rans tumble out of Wimbledon in the first couple of days, but who do 'they' think is interested in the British No6 making the second round in some Mickey Mouse tournament in Borneo during November? There's all sorts of sports that we're actually quite good at that we could hear about in preference.

Surprised he let that get to him tbh .

The biography of Fred Perry being serialised on Radio 4 atm is worth a listen. How he tried to shake up the AELTC and its elitism. Good words about Dan Maskell too.

It's like trying to introduce someone to football who doesn't like football.
I personally love a 5 setter on centre court, as is on now Sinner/Medvedev.

Elite sport most people cannot get involved in. Closed ranks to most of us plebs unless you want to twat the ball back and forth with your mate in the park. Needs to get out last century get some music blasting out add a bit of colour a bit like the 20/20 in cricket or whatever it's called these days. Full of stuck up toffee nosed twats. Not true. There are loads of tennis clubs that have very reasonable annual fees for membership (mostly well under £100 a year). Not only that their membership (unless it is a more "exclusive" club) comes from all walks of life and backgrounds. A good racquet can be bought for under £100 as well. So financially it is not prohibitive. If you haven't played it it is a fantastic sport and all I have ever experienced is friendliness at the clubs I have been a member of of. There are good leagues as well where most levels of competence can participate. It is clearly a very misunderstood sport.

Well tomorrow I’ll definitely be watching Djokovic and Alcaraz. I know what people mean re elitism in the sport. But to me, Wimbledon represents sporting tradition at its finest and it’s one thing the BBC do excellently.

Alcaraz hopefully to retain his Wimbledon title, and please that's all Spain will win tomorrow.

The BBC are starting their Euro final coverage at 6.30 on Sunday so probably hoping the final isn’t a 5 setter !
