First time seeing him properly today. Not sure if that's his general standard or if he just had a good day but he was everywhere.
Certainly one to keep an eye on this season

He was quality! Was so impressed with how confident he was on the ball, he made one brilliant run from defence to the edge of their box and if he had scored that it would have been goal of the season already.
Would definitely get him on loan to Harrogate though, was quite impressed with them.

Both him and Iorpenda didn't look out of place in the team, they look like top prospects. The BSM trophy should help progress some of our younger players and keep some of our fringe players fresh.

If he is good enough, he is old enough.. nothing to say someone young and unexpected can't break through. Not all young players need to be loaned out.

Had we still been a Championship club we would be expecting developing players to be loaned to L1 or L2. With a deep enough squad these players can be brought in and then rested as/when form dips, to avoid destroying their confidence having to play them in a threadbare squad (Schofield, High)

I liked him, bit erratic, bit bombastic but football is supposed to be entertaining and that he was.

Just watched the highlights from Harrogate, didn't show too much of him but what there was looked promising. In particular in the 2nd half there was what looked like a great dinked touch down the right wing to (I think) Sorensen after a foiled attack- the clip cut away immediately after so I assume nothing came of it.
Early days of course, but the lad has potential for sure.

Schofield made a great reflex save on his debut and it turned out to be the only bit of goalkeeping he was any good at. I thought he'd be the real deal as he'd been capped at England youth level. Then I saw him trying to defend crosses, play out from the back, in one v ones, and his general positional sense. Really wanted it to work out for him as he's one of an increasingly small number of Huddersfield lads to play for us, but jesus wept he was really not cut out for the Championship. High looked quality and also put in a lively performance in a pre-season friendly (a word of warning there!) a few years ago against I think Rochdale. There were comments on here saying he was like Hogg but he could pass, would be the long term successor, yadda yadda. Oddly enough I think League 1 is his level, but not with us as he needs a to go somewhere that he doesn't have the honourary middle name 'Fucking' among the fans. Neat and tidy but unable to affect games in any serious way, and so weak.

I just looked up how old he is, expecting him to be 18, and he'll be 21 in October, so not really a kid. So easily old enough to earn and keep his place in the team if hes as good as he looked in that game.

Think this lad is showing some great potential. Thought he looked good the other week too. Could be good to get him in L2 on loan for some proper game time.

I'm sure some won't agree with this but Eccleston was so good yesterday I'd keep him in the squad this season as a back up RWB. The controversial bit is that while I've been very impressed by Iorpenda this pre-season, I think we need to loan him out to get very valuable game time - I actually think he'd do very well at Bradford. His path is blocked at Town this season in a 3 man midfield, as we have Hoggy, Kasumu, Wiles, Kane & Evans all, IMO, in front of him.

Duff’s system yesterday appears a high energy high press system, that’ll cause injuries and will need resting players in busy periods. I think subs will be made between 60’-70’ so there’ll be plenty of game time to ease him in and let him build up his confidence. I bet he’s starting league games by December.

MD may well have a different opinion to me about him & have him much higher in the queue, which would be fine. I'm concerned that with only 7 subs available on the bench, he may not even make the bench at first. We'll need 1 GK, 2 defenders, 2 strikers, so, presumably 2 midfielders. If MD has him where I do in the midfield queue, he'll be left out. Whatever happens, he has caused a pleasant headache for Duff.

His test will definitely come in Austria v teams that are much tougher than yesterday. So far Wiles hasn’t done much but be injured or way off the pace which I think puts his place in the game day squad up for grabs. 7 subs isn’t much so I think flexibility might be the key to getting on the bench. I don’t really see Wiles providing flexibility, Iorpenda I’m not sure about yet, could he slot into a DM or wingback role if need be? As you said, a good headache to have.

Plenty of options for his own song I would think?
I do like the very northern surname though…

I haven’t written Wiles off, but after last year and although the preseason is only just started, he showed some inconsistency in one of the performances, he has to prove himself more than anyone IMO. With a couple of youngsters showing some real promising signs, he’ll need to perform to keep his spot is all I’m saying.
